My point was, you tame it, breed it in captivity and work it, and by definition, it becomes a ferret.

Use a wee bolt mate, will hold forever, through the seat belt into the side of the box.

There is a lot of sense and a lot of total and utter bollocks that has been said already. Handle them a lot, get them used to you feet, the dogs, the nets, tubes, tunnels, the grass, going in the box, getting collars on. Pick them up from the mouth of tubes gently and calmly, so they don't mind your hand reaching for them at the mouth of a hole. Feed them and water them well, maybe introduce a whistle when you feed them. Do not starve them, thats stupid, pointless and cruel, and do not throw them live bunnies, it's also pointless, cruel and just weird. Enter them, in small,

I know you like the 'look', and are willing to pay for it. But can you please tell me, WHY.HOW, in your opinion (from working them) that they work 'better'? Thankyou for the kind offer, i may take it up one day, but at the moment i have 6 'normal' ferrets, and have just bred a litter of 5, of which i have kept four, so i have my hands full this season, and my team have yet to let me down yet.

It's a lab. . . . surely it's not going to crunch them? Would it crunch a rabbit? Just get him really used to them repetition is the key and correct and kind of negative interest.

what is the magical start date of season

Learn to read the land. If you understand it, you can see when things start to shift a bit and when it 'feels' right. or 1st September haha. -
Where a lot of the pre-saluki coursing dogs, collie blooded???

The true wild poley kits I was referring to were not found in the UK, but in countries where there are no feral ferrets. I'm inclined to agree with you re letting a wild animal be, as I don't think it's right to keep a wild animal in captivity unless it can't survive in the wild for some reason. I'd be willing to bet that very few of the socalled poleys which were trapped and used for breeding are actually pure polecats, but were the result of several generations of feral ferrets breeding. Would you then consider such to be polecats? I would consider them to be genetic ferrets,

Funny how you talk about 'working ability' as if that's all your interested in. . . . However . . . .you then equate them with money, "if you don't want them go look in the free to a good home section" as if paying top dollar for them somehow automaticlly makes them better. Also you clearly desire to impress folk as you do that daft thing where you list all your 'hunting tools' in your under sig. Now my question is. . . . HOW do they work better? I mean if you have ferrets that clean every rabbit out of any sized warren, in double quick time, no fecking about, no lying up, onl

Well, you sound like a cock.

So, you tell me, where in the Koran allah says it's ok to beat your wife??? RELIGIOUSFREAKS.COM ISLAM SEES WIFE-BEATING AS THERAPY enjoy But i thought you were an expert on Islamic law and culture. . . .? Can't you answer?

Exactly, for most it has nowt to do with any real impact on their lives, people just like something to moan about and blame for 'the state of this country'. There are a lot of things that personally get on my tits or offend me a bit, but i wouldnt run about trying to 'ban' it. I was not happy when they banned hunting, because a majority thought it was wrong, even though it did no practical harm to any of them. So i don't presume to suggest we ban other things which i personally don't like, if it is not harming me. Stevesyorks - your lad got pulled JUST for wearing a hooded to

What kind of farmland were they shot on out of interest? -
Simple question - do they have worms?

wouldn,t it be a "domesticated wild polecat" And what's a ferret then mate? Cos as far as i'm aware no other animal has been added in creation of the ferret? I suppose the question is at which point are they regarded ferrets and not polecats, after one generation, two, or is it not how many generations but the degree of tameness, I,ve asked this question before and the answers are varied, a bit of a "grey area" Aye, i remember the thread. You keep it in a hutch, can handle it and take it ferreting to bolt rabbits and it's a ferret. You see it scampering a

The dictionary (i believe) defines a ferret as a "domesticated polecat used for driving out rabbits or rats from their burrows". So aye, domesticate it and work it and its a ferret, no ifs, no buts.

I thought you saw / heard of very few true wild poleys, but know of several true kits that were found? Why would you want a 'true' polecat anyway, it's a wild animal, leave it be. I wonder if folk realise that this craze for 'e.u poleys' has a led to a lot of them being trapped for breeding. . . . . .thus damaging the wild population.

Cant agree with that mate, no matter what calibre or who's aiming the gun, a badger is not an animal that lends itself to clean shooting. Personaly i dont think this cull will ever get off the ground, theres no one with the balls to make it happen. jmo. I was referring to the earlier comment about an explosion of hares, fox and deer (which ain't gonna happen) and if that happened, would they bring back hunting with dogs? Dog vs gun on the same land - gun always wins.

anyone know what vet fees for ferret problems?
Ideation replied to kevin from bristol's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Problem is that most vets know next to nothing about the care and treatment of ferrets. -
Since the ban, in most places, the numbers of fox and hare have dropped.
