  1. How many sets of twins do you know mate? But aye, sounds like a lot more hassle than it was worth!
  2. My usual partner in crime couldn't make it today, and my misses was over, so me and her just took the dog and one of the jills out for a quick mooch this morning. Decided to go and put the dog through a bit of a long gully / ditch, where the cover is still stupid for this time of year. The weather was crazy, t-shirt weather, new buds on the greenery and insects acting like it was spring. Anyway, there was pretty much nothing to ground, and little would go to ground, the rabbits prefering to give the dog the run around up and down the ditches, where the cover was too thick for him to ge
  3. Aye this warm weather is a b*****d. Come the f**k on winter
  4. Just seems that all the time here we have people with guns coming from other areas trying to get all of the permission, offering money for the most part. There is not even that much game / vermin about here. And it's f*****g annoying when it's YOUR home.
  5. Lots of posters have started appearing in my area recently, from a group of guys wanting all the shooting rights. In return they offer a night-time patrol service with marked (police style) 4x4's and security patrol dogs. Promise to keep the undesirables off the land at night . . . . . WANKERS.
  6. I've had a little read of this thread, and there has been some good stuff written, but also some pure shite. A lot of people take dogs ferreting, dogs that can chase and catch a bolting rabbit. Well, in my eyes that isn't a ferreting dog, it's just a running dog you take out with the ferrets. A good ferreting dog should do many things, including, hunting up land to put rabbits to ground and to find warrens. Mark the warrens that are occupied, and the holes by which the rabbits are nearest. Gaurd the holes while the net are being layed. Be respectful of the nets, the ferrets etc. Positi
  7. Really enjoyed that mate, cheers

    badgers

    They are fecking EVERYWHERE here.
  9. You never see good dogs for sale full stop. But you see more lamp dogs for sale than ferreting dogs, as it's more 'in vogue' (lamping), bit more of a fashion these days, with folk getting into it and out of it all the time.
  10. If you handle them well, and spend time with them they are fecking great. Intelligent, fun, quick, great little things. Can't imagine a better animal to keep, well, them and dogs.
  11. Depends on your idea of a good pet.

  13. Could you not just use decent springers / cockers though? In all honesty i have seen some handy sprockers and even handy springerdors. But none of them have been a patch on the good cockers and springers i have seen.
  14. He's right, that most folk just wear it as the 'done thing' and don't think about what it represents for a second. But good on those that wear it and do think.
  15. Same as above, was got into it by my Dad and Mum. There are photos of my mum 7 months pregnant, out with my old man and the dogs or ferrets. And then photos of me as a new born, tucked up in a sling / carrier, back out with them and the dogs. Always known it. Always will.

  17. To be fair mate, i think breeding off her would be foolish. But your call.
  18. Well done good views, the best form of protection for our hunting rights to be maintained is for us as a hunting commuity to put a end to hunting outside of the by others and since being on the THL for a very short period it does not take sherlock to realize there a awful lot illegal going on in the countryside. Cheers Cookie NO! The best form of protection is to stop the plebs doing it and getting caught.
  19. I think we would all be surprised at the full extent mate, anyone together enough to up and jump a flight to the states just to hunt several times over the course of a decade will have some decent tales to tell, its a little bit out of the ordinary and takes an individual to do it. Yes, it certainly does. But it can also give that individual an inflated sense of their own superiority and make them a condescending, repetative, misery
  20. So let me get this right. . . . you are having a go at Simo. . . . for being 'repetative'. . . . . .about Whin? Have you READ any of Whins posts over the last few years. . . . no wait, make that POST, as they are pretty much say the same thing! The guy comes out with the odd Pearl. . . . but by god is he not at least 7/8 mental! BIG BEASTIES.
  21. Cheers for the terrier pics mate, they are some of the best looking 'beddys' i have seen If i could find one like that i'd snap it up. The background in the photo of the terrier stood on the table looks very familier
  22. Love all the dogs matey You got any more pics of the terriers? And which part of Wales if you don't mind me asking, looks familier!
