    If folk only gift pups to trusted mates and cull the rest. . . how are decent, keen young lads, going to get into the game? There are a lot of folk on here that own cracking dogs that were bought in. . . . . As long as youre not taking the piss, whats the problem with paying a couple of hundred for something you will enjoy daily for many years.

    It's funny just how many collie x pups there have been this summer. . . . I think THL has had a bog part to play in that.. . . . . . Can't wait to see how they turn out Jai.....some crackers amongst them..... Aye, me to mate. . . .. . . . and if it all, or at least some of it, works out for some folks, in ten years time, there could be some really handy dogs about. . . . the dogs are there, now they just got to be worked. The future may be bright. . . . . .

    £40 for me pup.. sal dh x but paying more for a pup to me is buying shite as idiots breeding for the sake of breeding will ask £££ people who breed to replace their own stock the price is normally free i still owe a fella a jar of coffee for the best dog ive ever had pups for yourself and to mates .. all else is culled So all pups that are very cheap or free are all crackers. . . . . and any pup thats expensive is shit.     I'm not saying that the pricing of pups is ok. But folk moan about spending 200 quid on a pup. . . . yet spend that on a fecking x-box. . . . or a couple of nights out.

    Get a good reputation in the area, both for being an honest, decent guy, and also for being good at catching rabbits. If its all keepered, get out and go beating, offer general help around the shoot, especially smaller syndicated shoots, which may struggle for man power, and generally get your face known and your foot in the door. Usually, if you do this, something will come up. Also never overlook any land. . . schools, gardens, garden centres, church yards, stables, anywhere with any bunnys, get in and ask, if you get a bit of land, however small, us that and the owners name to work on the s

    One of the things that impressed me the most was their toughness. . . . such as their feet. Greyhounds suffer feet problems regular, whereas in Hungary, where its 30 + degrees in summer and minus temps in winter. . . . these dogs ran fine. And they can turn a shit ton better than the greys I have seen. More like our coursing greys than a track animal. The land is unreal. . . . just huge, miles of arable. . . . . lots of hares. I did seriously consider bringing one back. . . . kind of wish I had. Also seriously considered starting a buisness taking coursing lads out there. . . .

    It's one if those things where folk don't look to certain parts o the world and those parts of the world are pretty closed etc. for a pure sight hound I was real impressed with what I saw of them on hares and fox an the odd deer. Never saw them lamped. Just daytime coursing etc. I guess they are like greys were when they were hunting dogs. The 'big' land out there is incredible!

    Relic - just get a pup from two parents, doing to a high standard what you want your pup to do on the land you want to run your pup. Think you've researched it to death!

    Yes. Lived there for best part of 5 yeas - they are called Magyar Agars, Magyar being Hungarian ...... In Hungarian. Lots of hares in Hungary!

    As said, I use wait to steady a keen dog and stop them running in. With young dogs I also sometimes use 'watch', 'ferret', 'leave', 'dead' and 'good dog / bitch'. And the ever present hiss.

    I don't think you can have a go at folk who get pissed off at folk poaching their permission. You work hard for it, look after it, and it provides you with sport and work for your dogs. Then some lad comes a long who goes where he likes and fucks it up for you..... At the end of the day you won't be happy even if you have poached yourself.
