  1. Would make good rabbiting/mouching dogs...lamping....ferreting etc. My friend used to work a collie/lab was obviously heavy, but it was excellent at hunting up and had a real soft mouth...clever as.
  2. Extreme lengths. Be very careful, a similar thing happened to my dad. Can't trust nobody.
  3. ACD and kelpies do interest me. I keep a collie greyhound, but in the past have worked 2 pure collies and really enjoyed there working style. I don't know if you have worked border collie lurcher but i was wondering how acd or kelpies temperaments compare to the them.
  4. Fitness is fitness yes, but on the other hand a boxer in top physical condition won't be able to touch along distance runner on a off day..
  5. Fair comment, but lets stick to bull or collie...ATB
  6. Never worked a bull/greyhound or seen one work, but i know they're highly regarded by many on this site. I have always worked collie greyhounds or whippets. I was curious if bull/greyhounds have the edge over collie greyhounds when it comes to stamina, or maybe the bullgreyhound/colliegreyhound......what you think?
  7. Totally agree, its not just about the numbers, i rarely catch more than a couple a season, but as long as my dogs hunt well then i'm happy.
  8. Hi, i remember when i used to work in a dog grooming parlour all the bedlingtons were shaved.....not saying nobody hand strips them, but this is what they did.
  9. your more than welcome to come out for a night with me an whitey im still waiting for my offer ,after all one good turn deserves another . ill wear a skirt if it helps
  10. Never had a laguna whippet but i was always led to believe they were an excellent strain of working whippet. Enter it carefully and it should make a good worker.
  11. Nice dog tyla. I think i remember "Les White?" who used to contibute to Shooting News/Countrymans weekly having a Lakeland terrier cross whippet for ferreting/pest control..... seemed to be a good dog.
  12. Not hardcore terriers by any means, but steady bushing dogs.
  13. 50 border 50 greyhound 23/24 inch
  14. Whats...their reasons...are you having a laugh...wheres the sport in trying a catch a pregnant doe....or.. killing a doe thats gonna let its kits starve. I can understand people hunting through the breeding season if its their living or to keep permission. I have a very low opinion of people who hunt unnecessarily through the breeding season. There not true lurchermen in my eyes.
  15. Had quite a few of both. I definitely prefer bitches. Dogs seem more docile, bitches seem a bit sharper mentally. Some of the dogs i had were more bothered about trying to get laid and marking their territory than working....although not all dogs are like this. End of the day either will do the job just i prefer bitches.
  16. Don't be put off. Most of his dogs are capable of keeping most people happy, although different people have different expectations. Its right what is said though better to get off working stock. This didn't put me off though. Both mine kept me happy, not world class dogs, but good working dogs. Put the time in, enter carefully and be patient and i'm sure you won't look back. ATB
  17. Simple..change your vet. Couldn't believe how quickly and painless it was at the vets. For me you buy a dog and keep it for life....end of.
