  1. Isn't there anybody on here who hunts a border collie that could be used to stud? One thing I found when I used to hunt pure border collies from working stock was they would all lamp and ferret more or less the same with a keen interest....seemed to keep their brain ticking over, but when it came to hunting up quarry they varied massively in their desire to do so, especially if they had to hunt when scents were few and far between which is what it is like around me. On another note does anybody like abit of working beardie in the mix.......I'm really suprised working beardie blood is
  2. Nice read....haven't looked at the thread for a few days. I do admit I personally know nothing about field trial dogs and need to do much more reading if I eventually take the plunge.
  3. Nice. How many bitches in the litter?
  4. I can never get my head around a whippet that's 23 inch....it's just not a whippet. Nice pup.
  5. Yep can be done, never tried it though, if I find the clip I'll put it up. Here you go... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q7trIwVMYZA&oref=http%3A%2F%2Fm.youtube.com%2F&has_verified=1&layout=tablet&client=mv-google
  6. How is your young bitch coming along. Hi darbo....thanks for asking...good timing as well as she caught her first solo rabbit this morning......20 months old, but still very puppy like in some ways. I've been giving her some quality time this summer trying to get her to develop her hunting. She's still a sensitive bitch which I've managed to work around but I'm really happy with her. She's very calculated in her style and works her nose very well. Roll on this season....can't wait. Wuyang
  7. Long gone old collie bitch.....amazing hunter....would bush all day
  8. How did the collies do for you pal? Really enjoyed working them, did every type of rabbiting with them, both loved it. The bitch was one of the most natural daytime hunting dogs I have worked and excelled at bushing and worked cover as good as any terrier I've owned....she would hunt for a scent no matter what. The male worked more like a lurcher and tended to wait outside the cover, had some good fun with him lamping, generally doubled up with my whippet, he was a good ferreting dog. Both very good rabbiting dogs, but very different styles. I don't tend to catch a lot given where I hunt,
  9. My long gone rabbiting team...... My current team.......minus pointy ears who passed last year.
  10. I've always had good success with your average pet Jack Russell's.....granny lap dog style....nothing too hard and serious. They always seem so natural at bushing, great voice on them and fit in the runs so well.
  11. Thanks for all the input, I don't mind paying a fair price, just doing my research.
  12. Never owned a cocker, always used jack russels to bush with, but in the future I may be tempted with one ( in a year or two). Just curious what is a fair price to pay for one. I would hope to get a one via word of mouth etc, but I just had a quick look on preloved, as you do, and working cockers were between £650 - £800...... I was gob smacked.......so what is a fair price to pay?
  13. Can do either, but shaving over time can create a much finer coat that tangles easier. Hand strip is best if you have the time.
  14. Are they for sale my mate may be after some. I tried mailing you but your box is full. If are selling them if you let me know the price and I'll get back to you. Thanks
  15. Nice and not a trace of Sooty Sam

Come September all being well if she's up to a mornings bushing and you want a rummage around your end for her to bush to your lurcher then I' have no problem coming over, but I can understand you probably want to get out with a team of bushing dogs.

    Day Out?

I did have two russels that I bushed with, but lost one to that seasonal K9 disorder So I'm left with my ten year old little bitch who has unfortunately just recently injured her back leg. Well anyway if you don't have any better offers and she gets better and you want to try for a few bolters for your lurcher then come next season I could come over with her ( I don't have any where I can take you and there's very little action where I mooch).
