    I keep toying with the idea of the 4.6 version, but am wondering if I should get the 6.5 now, I would probably only mount it on the .22 or the air rifle, so would the larger 6.5 be too much for say ratting @ 20 -30 yards? I will be interested in the reviews when they appear, to see if its any better than its smaller stablemate.

    I dont use Wins any more as my CZ semi does not like them, but unless they are somehow amazingly more accurate in your rifle, why bother, a rabbit wont notice another 2 grains of bullet weight when you slot it through his head @ 75 yards,all a bit of market hype if you ask me

    I had a .177 lightning xl around 2006/7 and it was a cracking little rifle, I dont know if it was a good one built on a good day, but it was producing 11.4 ftlbs all day long I seem to remember, and was very accurate, I would have liked to have tuned it, but let it go to a mate to shoot squirrels in his large garden, I just wish they would get rid of that bloody pin set up and use a bolt and shims like Weihrauch etc, then I would consider one again.

    Interestingly although the 99s is lighter/smaller (though they share a very similar action) the 99 does not suffer from muzzle flip like the 95 CAN do, so if you get a 95 make sure you have a nice heavy moderator on the end, both the 99s and 95 are capable of phenomenal accuracy, especially when tuned, I loved my 99s after I tuned it, and it was amazingly accurate, but I like a big heavy rifle, so let it go, the next HW springer I would like to try is the 98, but not the one with the adjustable stock, but the Luxus which is only available from Germany, but with that heavy bull barrel to all bu

    That is fine in principal Alsone, and you do have a point, however that all assumes the feo has the faintest idea about safe shooting, backstops etc, I have heard some strange things from, and about feo's over the years, so I would not expect too much in the way of shooting knowledge from some of them.

    Yes as Walshie says, I think your work mate needs to read his conditions again, "The .... rifle and sound moderator, shall be used for the shooting of deer and fox, and zeroing on land and ranges where the holder has LAWFUL authority to be" it does not automatically give him carte-blanche to shoot on a mates land, yes if his mates land is passed for .22rf and he owns a .308 providing he has authority to shoot the ground he can use his .308, but he needs authority, usually from the landowner, keeper, or other agent of the owner.

    Good plan mate .222 the calibre the gods would choose, lazer beam accurate and well capable out to 250 yards, .223 a tiny bit more grunt but a bit chavy .22-250 very very fast, capable out to 400 yards + in the right hands, .220 swift, same as .22-250 but harder to get ammo for, and all of the above can be used on small deer CWD and Muntjac in England and Wales, and Roe in Scotland, if you never intend to shoot deer, (never say never) the .17 rem is well worth a look as a fox tool, as is .204 Ruger, my choice if you have a lot of ground, and big fields?     I have tried a few of these offerings in the past when I had my Anschutz and thought they were all crap really, not an option now I have a semi auto, but even if I still had the bolt action, I would prefer to use the air rifle out to 45 yards or so, as it is so accurate, unlike the short cartridge offerings I tried.

    Keep the .22lr for rabbits, and get yourself a proper fox calibre .22 hornet, .222 etc, yes a .22lr will kill them humanely at reasonable range, but if you are encountering them at more than around 40-50 yards, use the hmr, or better still get one of the above .22 centerfire.
