  1. I was in a similar situation. I went for a Lab as I was told that for a first dog a spaniel might be too much for me to handle. Having said that my lab is very strong willed and drives me mad at times. Which ever you chose bear in mind you are going to spend two years at least working your a*se off with the dog. Where as you might only get out with the gun once a week, you'll be training that dog every day. I didn't even pick up a shotgun till my dog was nearly a year old and we're still along way off from him being good enough to go in to the field. It's getting to the point where I a

    Yep not funny at all.
  3. really nice write up Those 20 bore MK70s are lovely to shoot aren't they. I was very tempted to buy one and probably would have done if they weren't a bit expensive to feed.
  4. Oh jesus my stomach is hurting from laughing so hard
  5. Yep that what I said was gonna happen.... BBc is very good putting accross an 'unbiased view' but then telling you the correct answer at the end. It's state television...
  6. and let the milkman in to warm his hands........oops no that was my mates mum Was reading this and thinking how odd it was there was no 'mum' jokes yet, then got to the bottom and read this lol!
  7. They're going to paint them as Nazi Sympathisers. It's the BBC!
  8. Have you got a coach? Mine has offered to come with me to chose a shotgun. All the best reviews in the world wont matter if it doesn't fit properly. I was also looking at guns off reviews and in shop windows, I was a little put out when my coach told me that his miroku M70 was a perfect fit as I didn't want that brand, but the difference in how I shoot with it compared with the club Browning is massive. I haven't bought a gun yet but when I do I'll be taking my coaches offer up and buy what he suggests. If I were you I'd take your time, you can always hire guns at the club so you dont need to
  9. I'm far from an expert but I'd take it slowly. Try getting someone to fire a shotgun or starter pistol at one end of a field and you stay with the dog at the other. Every time the gun is fired treat and praise the dog. Slowly decrease the distance over a period of days/weeks what ever the dog in comfortable with.
  10. You have no idea how many times I've done that all ready Cheers for the info
  11. Better prospects and sounds like a permanent job. Much easier to move on with that on your cv. Go for it mate

  13. Wow I'm glad I just read this thread! I think this is going to explain why I missed two stationary targets
  14. Cheers Matt. In that case it makes even more sense, I suspect I am in a similar situation as the OP. I'm shooting clays only to get better at shooting game, I am not really interested in competition clay shooting. I'm thinking of getting a game gun and then using 21g cartridges for clays.
  15. Can always use 21g loads. I use Hull X 21g as I can't see any reason why to pay more money for a heavier load cartridge just for clays. I know that comps require 28g but I'm not a comp shooter.
  16. being a dad, husband and son.... all hard jobs in their own way. I just want to feel that I did the best job I could.
  17. The problem is that Labour were spending money they didn't have for years and years. We wont get a rebate because we've got to pay off their rediculous debts that are in the trillions...possibly as much as 7 trillion which is horrifying! They have to reduce spending below what the country is making to reduce not only the deficit but the debt accumulated. I agree on equality throughout the different countries of the UK but it isn't going to happen. Totally agree on reducing out spending on eu, immigration, wars etc. I still think the poorer families wont suffer as baddly though. It's the mi
  18. £3250 a year is peanuts and no where close to the true cost of education. I think it is justified but certain courses i.e. ones that lead in to jobs that aren't particularly well paid teaching, nursing etc should be ring fenced and subsidised. More people will apply and the unis will get to chose the pick if the litter, or they can do what they did for secondary school teachers and pay part of their fees once they've done the job for x amount of years. Also it wont be 9 grand a year except for degrees that are for the elite of the elite....average will be 6 grand a year. What this country
  19. i was quite clear what i thought about the working class cannon fodders role. Yes you were, it's just a shame you can't open your mind a little 'cos you're clearly not stupid, just clouded... not clouded at all, i just dont have the burden of guilt about being seen as disloyal that you have. i just say it as it CLEARLY is. I've no burden of guilt at all, MM. For what it's worth to you, I'm from an Irish Cacholic background on my Dad's side, and very much C of E on my mum's. I understand what it's like to see both sides of an argument. I grew up with that!! The point is t
  20. anyone who turns up ort to be booted out of the country....however what are the odds that our intelligence services have infiltrated such organisations and even use them to compile lists of people who'll end up on MI6 watch lists.
  21. How can they retain sporting rights when they sell it? I would imagine this could be overturned in court as they have no interest shooting on the land as owners or not. ANyone care to comment?
