  1. hows he bred moggy. Exact replica of my old dog
  2. Reason I ask is I ve always run Bullgreyhound s and love the cross but I always wanted that quick take off and stamina. I have a half cross bitch about me that is game as they come but would love to have her drive with more pace. I was concerned that a collie cross over her would lose the drive so to speak. How do u find urs compared to the bull crosses with no collie
  3. how exactly are they crossed trunk are they half cross to bg to half cross cg? Stunning dogs
  4. i tried 2. First was from Hancock years ago from a half cross called stormin Norman to a greyhound called jet. He finished at 28 inches and would do rabbit and hare but was a coward on fox. I gave him till over 2 year old as I really liked him but he did nt want it. Second was from Swansea area and much like the first. Gutless . Never again
  5. Recently had a bull cross bitch sent down doing the same thing. I slipped her and she missed then decided to run 2 fields just pissing about.I walked the opposite way putting the light on by my feet only and she slowly made her way back . Through gritted teeth praise the dog up and make a fuss of em. Then I let her off again and repeat. When she did make a catch a few nights later she ran off with the rabbit. Again I walked the other way. The first rabbit she ate most of but again when she came to me I praised her again. Next night she picked up after a long run. This time as soon as she picke
  6. correct. The old dog I have now is over 10 yr old and still does 2 nights a week. He s slowing up on daytime stuff but it's to be expected. I put him to a pure bull and kept a bitch who a keeper has on a big estate. Handy bitch about 23" game as a pebble. We mated her at about 5 yr old to a big rangey well known dog. The pups were a picture but they finished big plodders like u mentioned. Straight line quick enough but no turn . Then when they hit stuff they were big enough to carry it about. And very hit and miss with stock. They brought nothing extra to the table than the little half crosses
  7. that is a fault with the first crosses I ve kept. Nigh on indestructible but lack that gear drop when needed. The 5/8 x 3/8 suited daytime for me but they never took as much stick as my half crosses.Well that's it', round a hole that half cross dog was in a different league, but a fox up the field and ya May aswell slip the terrier lol I hopefully have a very well bred 3/4 pup coning, fingers crossed, just wat I need with the hounds and if 1 bolts from the hole it's not like a set of wardrobes on legs chasing itlol I know what you mean. I ve recently done a half cross to half cross mating and
  8. i don t like the big types to be honest. Half crosses 23 or 24 the 5/8 was 24 also. nice handy types

  10. why lose your friendship because he s jacking in the dogs. I would imagine he has his personal reasons for his decision.
  11. The old dog I have and the stuff he throws don t do well stuck in a kennel from a pup and I agree I think they learn so much more inside and being out with you. I was in this frame of mind a few years back about the dogs after getting shit on with dogs I d put out and people going back on places they d been taken. After a long think I realised it was nt the dogs and digging that I was tiring of , it was the politics lies and back stabbing that went with it. I pulled myself away from different crowds and enjoy it like I did years ago again. All the best.
  12. Gary s a genuine lad clearing some stuff out. I had some trousers off him
  13. You don't actually have to be fit to be doing it there....1 break 1 scoop it's not a fast digging country. Herefordshire and Shropshire is a different story you can go like feck in 90% of that part of the countrymy mate from wales reckons were spoilt lol there s plenty bad places if u know the ground
  14. All this about good terrier men never selling pups. There s quite a few who have made a good few quid who operate in the so called circle. And before you ask , no I have nt
  15. We had done a few spots and dropped a dog in a place on the way home . Never no more than 1.7 here my mate said. Box was reading 4.8 to 5.1 . One lad headed off home saying he had to get back and the keeper sat and watched me and my mate. We broke through to the dog just after 11pm. FairPlay to the keeper he did back fill with with the under keeper for us.
  16. He s a cracker roybo. I ve run bull greyhounds for years and watched a saluki greyhound back to a half cross bull greyhound run . Very impressive to watch , he ate the ground up on long slips. He was nt as hard as a half cross when he caught what he was running. But a half cross would nt have been successful on the long slips this dog had. A cross I d definitely consider when I lose the old dog
  17. So is there a particular line of collie blood that produces. I tried a few collie crosses and they never liked teeth much. Not saying they would nt touch fox but they would nt kill em regular . I know there s lads on here with collie x s doing it and I ve seen some crackers both out with hounds and around holes. but they were one offs and never produced fox dogs when bred from to similar collie x s. So is there or was there a specific collie or line of collie that threw anything that had a hatred of Charlie ?
  18. i was nt knocking either of the dogs or trying to put you off the mating. Just telling you my experience of the first cross from a bigger sire and dam. All the best with the mating hope they turn out well for u bud
  19. was just going to write the same mate. I fetched two pups from a well bred 18 inch bull bitch to a 22 inch whippet and they turned out horrible looking things . Like leggy terriers 17 tts and could nt run for shit. She s a cracking looking bitch , I d be tempted for coursing blood or pure grey. We always put a bull sire to a greyhound dam to throw 23 to 24 inch half crosses. just out of curiosity Jake, what was the breeding behind the bull bitch ?mayfield bitch

  21. I ve lamped from a motor with different keepers on big estates and did nt like it much. Fair enough it was pest control and the keepers wanted the numbers but I had just as many good nights when I walked the same ground. The old dog will find things in the dark which you d miss in the truck .
  22. did I read right. near retired at 3 and a half ?
