Frustrating Evening In The Foxes!
goldfinger replied to Jarvis's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
That's fox shooting, can be very frustrating at times. -
Just bare in mind with my experience of these ir monoculars the problem i found was the constant need to keep re-focusing at different distances I strapped a T67 to mine it gave me 300 mtrs detection range which was good but the refocusing problem was a pain so it sits in a draw very rarely used, imo another thing to consider is the more items you have carry around with you the more frustrating and awkward your shooting day/night becomes, travel light as possible with less items to carry and use then iv'e found my outings have become more enjoyable, best do a lot of research as ask about peoples

Something like a T50 with an ir pill in will increase your spotting distance, having said that i don't have any personal experience of the Pulsar 850.The nitesite Wolf I can spot up to 300mtrs + weather conditions allowing, the Pulsar Apex 75 thermal spotting distance up to one mile in all weather conditions upside to thermal is nothing can hide from it anything alive well past 500 distance you will generally see it ,downside to thermal is the cost and at 200mtrs + because of definition you need to make sure it is not the farmers beloved pet lol but with some movement in yours quarry at 200 + y

Hello Bagerdaddy, If I was you I would not bother I myself have never had to rely on night vision itself to walk around at night (imo you do not need it),get to know your permission and were the rabbits tend to come out from generally they tend to be opposite were there warrens are or some sort of safe refuge, use your Pulsar to scan in front of you as far as possible before walking forward that way you can get into range of them, use field craft be very quiet and do not let them get scent of you so wind direction is very important, you would be better investing in increasing your scopes capabil

Always get the biggest deepest safe you can afford and fit in your designated location, get one that will carry more guns than you have it will pay off in the long run, deep or extra deep for scoped rifles.

If your lucking to spend as little as possible Hatsan Escorts are fine I've had one for years and shoot 24grm steel on pigeons,as with all semis expect occasionally to have a cycling fault especially with very light loads, mine likes 70mm case length, my semi seems to get better with age, cannot really fault the Escort giving the price you pay for them.

Recently I've had problems with Hornady Remington and Winchester. I've had several hangfires (less than half a second) and one squib round (stuck in the barrel) Not good. I checked 300 rounds and 28 were split cases! 10%. I check every box now and discard roughly 10% which is f****** annoying but no problems since starting to check each round. Dsc01241a.jpg Plenty split during firing, so I take it they don't give you a problem! No they don't or I'd have mentioned it. TBH I don't crawl around in the undergrowth looking for spent cartridges so I have no idea how many spl -
That's it then i'm in the out party

Heads shots on rabbits no problem, the above video is what you get and plus, awesome bit of kit well worth the money, there is is lot of user settings you can play with as well.My outlook on life now because i'm at that age lol,is (you only live this life ones). I don't know what ranges that video was taken at, but it's not what I would call clearly defined for head shooting, possibly because of the mag, as you can see the heads well enough at whatever range that was, if I compare that video to my nv, I prefer my setup for clarity, but I see a definite advantage the thermal has spotting thing

I use a Pulsar Apex xd75 and I tell you all now its the dogs nuts, its all I use now, and with it having three separate zero points that can you store I use on three separate rifles,Tolled one landowner that I've haven't seen many hares this year, first time out with thermal spotted 20 of them in adjoining woods and on his land in fields and woods/hedge rows, you can see foxes coming in from 600 mtrs plus see them hiding in hedgerows and woods, rabbits as far as your eye can see in daylight in any conditions day and night, mice and rats playing in fields, and from a safety point of view you can see

.22 rimmy mate perfect bunny basher, but don't forget rimfire is a lethal round so watch were you point it,it also can potentially travel over a mile and is very prone to ricochets.

Fineren Body Grip Trap
goldfinger replied to shropshire mole's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Why don't you ask them. -
I personally have never had problem with my HMR ammo or otherwise,I cannot comment on the HMR2 having never owned one,all I can say is out of the thousands of rifles and god knows how many rounds fired over a a period of time there is always going to be someone experiencing some sort of a problem whether it be ammo or the rifle itself.

Always hide them out of sight of general public pref bury them in hole if possible, I personally think its being respectful to the animal as well.

Western Rivers Caller Worked
goldfinger replied to Rifleman88's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I shoot with thermal an Apex xd75 and I tell now its a different world through thermal, you will see quarry that you not see at all with normal Ir light, see mice/rats in open fields birds roosting in fields track charly as far as the eye can see in all conditions,I had charly come and have a crap 20 metres in front of me in open field never new I was there, charly also comes in much more readily when there is no dull red glow that you get from conventional Ir light, the only downside thermal is bloody expensive but I bit the bullet as they say and since have never looked back, the apex transfers -
Cz .22 all the way mate very quite cheap as chips perfect bunny basher and a very enjoyable calibre to shoot.
