  3. Hi all just had a call from FAO after talking to one of my land owners he told me that I could have my center fire on an open ticket up to .223,I told him to put 22.250 on my ticket (final decision) so thank you all for helping me to decide on which caliber to have.
  4. Thank you all again for your experienced advice.
  5. The reason I say 200-300 max is that I sometimes get a educated fox and last year I had to give up on one because when he was in range of my .17 hmr the shot was unsafe footpaths to close and when it was safe he was always at those ranges and would not come in,the fields concerned are around 300-400 mtrs square, But I did enjoy the challenge, sometimes time is not on my side hence the center fire going on my ticket.
  6. I've used the similar called a virminator I din't think they are not passed in this country as for humane killing you suppose to ferret the warrens then collapse the tunnels with the Verminator, they can be extremely noisy not really suitable around residential areas, you also have to be vidulant and not use them were there is a risk of fire I nearly set fire to a national park luckily I gained control of the situation, grate fun to use though.
  7. Thanks all for honest opinions, looks like being a 223 then,I here that 22.250 are barrel burners?.
  8. Hi all, my FAO came around the other day to deal with my renewal I was requesting a 243 but was refused because I did not have deer on my land that wanted controlling, mostly the center fire caliber I'm after is for fox,on this renewal I am due to go on an open ticket but the FAO said that I might not get an open ticket on my center fire I thought this was strange ? but he would have to check and get back to me when I decide which alternative caliber to go for, this FAO he said was fairly new this role and was covering for a FAO on sick leave. This brings me to decide which caliber now to g

  10. Got my medical report completed a few days ago for my FAC renewal but it took three weeks of constantly asking after I gave to my GP before they finally sorted it,cost for that service £18.00 I think that I got of likely compered to some reports.
  11. SSSI confusion? if its not a European SSSI then the licence GL35 can be use very confusing, I have a farm that has a river and lake that is a SSSI within 300 mtrs I control the ferrals that are producing loads of sh-t all over the place in the out buildings GL35 is the licence I use but unless its not a European site and I am not damaging anything I will have to apply for an individual licence (SSI European or not very confusing). Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) k. A site of special scientific interest (SSSI) is a site designated through domestic law as of special intere
  12. Yes bangers can work at times but that method just moves them on to some other unfortunate farmer and they are expensive to keep running day after day,I've have shot some good numbers on fields that have have a working gas gun on and running, they do need some lethal control to reduce the numbers, flock sizes can get into there hundreds or even thousands we've all seen them, one farmer a few years ago that I know nearly lost all his 500 acres of rape in winter to pigeons in a very short space of time he was forced into putting out a advert in a local paper desperately asking for help controllin

  18. I had a similar problem with a CZ .22 eventually checked the barrel for free floating and found it was making contact with the stock and not free floating, a bit sandpaper and patience soon put as it should be and hey - presto the groups tightened up a treat.
