i don't do much digging at the moment but love the sport( hunting, fishing).the family on my nans side are an old line of poachers in telford, they would feed the extended family with game after the war and up untill 15-20 years ago.my dad grew up with it from his dad and uncles and i guess it has got me too( my son is mad for it as well). dogs, hunting and fishing are imo hereditry. workerxworker maybe?

not sure where you are but the midlands seem to be sound.they will ask a few questions about your experiance with firearms, saftey, security and generally have a chat and a cuppa. if the guy is coming around then its more or less in the bag. he is not there to make things awkward but to make sure you are able to secure the weapons and not wearing a straight jacket and generally sure of the responsibility you are taking on. atb and good luck

Letting loose with the 22-250

a good fox caliber if you don't want the pelt well done bud. -
yes the otter is an opportunist and no mean hunter.amazing how far from the water they will go for food. as they are protected will the damage caused by them be met by the government? just a question. cheers

that may well be the case in hungary,in germany a jagd terrier MUST give tounge when working or will be classed as useless.he may shut up when he has his mouth full as this is only good manners i have worked with jagd above and to earth and have never failed to hear them.the row these boys make in contests/training on fox is not barking its screaming. the trial "verbandsschweisspruefung" is a blood trailing( man made/dripped or tabbed) 100 hours old.from the group/organisation you belong to. after this there is only natural blood trailing for the mortal dog( another mark on the paper

no mate i'm not saying they are not good dogs if they dont cost £xx.i'm saying that this is a reasonable price for these dogs with papers.i'm sure if i wanted one it would be at cost/free. selling jagd terrier without papers is not in the interest of the club( second litter in a year, eye tests failed,no trials etc etc) i have no problem taking a dog without paperwork when i know the breeder/dogs. or know someone who does. as i said you may get a good dog. the jagd terrier club pairs the terrier not only for workig ability but for size. the bitch is of a size suitable for earth work,if that

erik the bitch has scored in the first prize on all trials.( last was the verbandsschweisspruefung 100 hours old, full 100 points) the kennel is "Vom schenkwald" if that is any good to you? why would you think that the jagdterriers main job would be wild boar? is that true of the wachtelhund( quail dog, also often used on boar, blood trailing). i would like to point out at this point that i'm not offering this to make a load of money but as the questions on jagdterrier this week at least seem to get enough comments like" where can we get one" and i have someone who succesfully breeds them

test results? if you mean trial tested, they have all been tested on fox(natural and man made earth).depending on which dog he uses they are trained to top standards on blood trailing(verbands schweisspruefung),driving( top marks for hardness. this means holding pigs),retrieve, recall, obiedience during the shoot etc etc. these are top dogs from a serious breeder,if you want a jagd terrier here is an opportunity. as i said, only proper working homes.

anybody looking for a jagd terrier can pm me. i have just spoken to my mate in germany who would be willing to sell pups to england. ONLY TO GOOD WORKING HOMES for 500 euro+ transport costs. if more than four pups are sold i would go and get them myself. the dam and sire are guarateed workers who are put to use on ALL game and vermin all over germany. he is a keeper and knows the job as do his dogs. serious pm only.

Binocular Magnification
waidmann replied to Bobba_fett's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
i use 8x56 from eschenbach( little known german optics of good quality) they cost around 250 euro. good choice are steiner, leica, zeiss, optolyth. depending on budget and weight you want to carry. when stalking i usually have the smaller binos during the day 10x20. a 20x30 telescope is good if you have something to rest it on to get real close up. as a daytime glass i would opt for the 42,50 mm. as an all round glass( night time, dawn and dusk) 8x 56 mm will produce a usable light value( pupil size changes with age). as with most optics budget is the big factor behind usage. atb -
if you look at the thread a couple of weeks ago you will see that the jagd IS bred from fox terrier, manchester terrier and some other stuff( bred by the german fox terrier club breakaway). they are bred as multi task dogs. in germany most do not dig but bolt. they are not bred as big game dogs( yes they are used on grizzly, boar, elephant tracking etc) they are bred as terrier( latin earth dog). the prey drive is immense making them good tracking dogs. i have personnally seen a jagd spend two days with a raccoon to ground( losing his chin) and when we got to him he still wanted more.sound

i would in that case go for a s+b,docter, zeiss glass. depending on whether you stalk alot or more night shooting with or without a lamp( want to keep it light or mount an observatory?) the big makes offer reliable optics and very good service if something goes wrong. leica also make excellant scopes. atb

getting my mentoring condition removed
waidmann replied to arveyboy's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i spoke about this with my fao only the other day and was told " put some rounds through it safely for a few months and then write to us and ask for it to be removed" i guess its different for each district? the safer the better is say. not a good system in the uk, i had to do a nine month course with written, practical and oral exam to gain a hunting licence in germany( and it cost a bomb!!) it is a similar course for fishermen by the way!! don't worry i'm sure the government is working towards a similar ball ache for the uk atb -
Bit of pest controll
waidmann replied to doyoufeel_lucky@hotmail.co's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
nice one. you will have her doing the squeaking soon. i quite like the mrs coming with me too( she will carry the rabbits as well ) atb -
i take it you mean like a french borse? normal purse net( usually without rings but wire hoops) with two pegs. i have made a couple to try. apparently they only need half the distance to close( looks to be right to me). i have left about 6 inches from net to peg. i got the idea from a book on "net making for sport". not tried mine out yet. let me know how it goes bud.

Out with my mates on the rifles again
waidmann replied to bullmastiff's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
nice shot! keep it up mateys. -
should not have any trouble getting an fac. i would apply for fac and sgc at the same time( co terminal) it will cost you £60. do you have any experiance of firearms? someone to show you the ropes?( this may be a condition of the fao) is the land cleared for firearms? as a rifle for rabbit and fox the .22 or .177 hmr ( for fox a bigger cal would be beneficial. see other topics on here). good luck.

yep, terrier will do the trick. smoker or lift the tank.try to block escape routes as best you can( planks of wood/corrogated sheet etc). good fun for the dogs too

any damage to the cage? a dog would scratch at the door/bite the mesh if no damage then someone opened it for him i would say. a husky could probably jump a six foot fence if he wanted,i doubt he would have done it straight off,he would need a couple of tries( why would they not stop him then?).he could probably smell the ferret through the fence. are they the type to do something as nasty? either way i would like to know how you get on? i'm not indicating that anything untoward has gone on but i would have a chat with the neighbor as to what has gone on. replacing your valueble worke

good to hear its not just mine then yes i just give them dry food, with a couple of times a week fresh( duck, pigeon, rabbit etc). i have them on newspaper in the run and they have a hammock to sleep in( tried dust free cat litter and shavings in the run but was not happy with that, makes a mess, dusty etc) the only problem with newspaper is that the albino jill looks a bit grey ( terrarium people use newspaper for quarrentine tanks, supposed to have a good effect on ticks, fleas and bacteria from the ink????). they mess it up a bit but they enjoy it. i clean them twice a day and its cheap. p

what kind of budget? i would go for a variable, illuminated,as big an objective as possible. variable will reduce light transmission minimally( against say a 8x56) but will be more versatile when stalking/long distance fox etc illuminated will help when sitting on for boar at night, often you only have a sillouette to work on and you cannot see the crosshairs. objective size will let in the little light you often have to make do with( 56mm will do the best night work, you can get bigger but they are expensive) get the best you can afford is the onlt tip i can give you without a budget, and do
