  1. you can sit the german and as far as i know the french hunting licence in english. i have the german licence but did it in german.an advantage if you can. the first test is shooting, shotgun 3 out of 10 skeet. rifle is 30 out of 50 points on a roe buck at 100 standing with a fixed pole.( some areas must also shoot pistol/revolver in the training) when you pass these( truly not too difficult) a written test ( very diverse even though they have a catolog of multiple choice questions) where you must achieve at least 75%. then a oral exam where you will be sat opposite an examination board of
  2. hello there. which bundesland are you in? i know you may buy these traps anywhere but they are not allowed in large parts of germany either( fallenjagd verordnung). as they work on push and pull( german law says only on pull) the bait if used must be covered( protection of raptors). must be set in a bunker( with a warning of what is inside, i.e vorsicht todschlag falle!!) seective catch( ie. martin up to 10cm pipe or hole into bunker. fox 20cm restriction) i am sure you have a jagdschein and fallenjagd lehrgang. hope this helps.
  3. hello bud. how many nets do you want? ive around 20 nylon nets( 10 of them are brand new). and some poly linnen most of which are also new( self made). pm me how many you would like and where in north wales( my father lives in conway) and we can come to an arrangement. mike.
  4. cheers ricky. do you know the chap?
  5. hello mate, i'm after a spaniel. how is he bred? is the dog gun steady( shotgun)? you say he works rabbits, is he ferret sound? where in wales? its a big place . i should be in conway( llandudno) at the weekend to view if ok? pm me if possible.
  6. up untill now i have been insured under "inter insurance" there you have 5 million personal damage, 2.5 million damage to property and up to two dogs are included.( this is not insurance for the dog but for damage caused BY the dog or you while shooting or training) and costs around 65 euro for 3 years. as for vet insurance, i'd rather put £10 a month away and bugger the insurance company
  7. i used to keep snapper turtle and worked in a pet shop which had lots of reptiles. ( also kept pythons, boas, cornsnake, indigo adder, spiders and scorpions) the sort of things you do before you take on a decent lifestyle( hunting!). just have time for dogs and ferrets now.
  8. i already have a shelter but thought i'd say hello owen. felt sorry for you with that sad face. michael
  9. what breed and of working stock?
  10. hello mate. is the cabinet deep enough for rifle with scope? top locking box? dimensions would be great.i,ll drop you a text. if you could send a photo. if its ok for me i'll pick it up and cash then ok? no messing around ( hear alot of that on here!) cheers, michael
  11. sorry i missed your reply untill just bud. the cabinett is police approved for fac rifle (and deep enough for fitted scope)? will you go lower with the price?
  12. i've been making nets from polylinen(good to knot) have been told it wont rot as hemp will if left wet. its cheaper than hemp ( around 9 pound a reel from bridport nets.tel. 01308 420927. he will send it out on the same day, has rings and all sorts) at the end of the day alot of the lads i know will only use hemp nets and anything else is crap. i'll agree it may be a pleasure to use the nets but price and functionality have to come in to it.
  13. cheers fellas. a real shame as all are lovely ferrets, sandy black eyed, albino and pole cats. hope it stops here!
  14. hi, i'm rearing my first litter of kits. the jill had twelve from which three died in the first couple of weeks.now six weeks old and over the worst of it( i thought) another three have died they seem to become inactive for a day and then die. the jill was without worms and fleas after paring. it seems to be the smaller ones which go. any advice welcome.
  15. hi, i take it the cabinet is sold? just thought i'd ask.
  16. how much are you asking for the pups mate?
  17. i have dug to raccoon in kreis hoexter, beleive me they are tougher than a fox. they wont bolt for a start. they dont have the dog registerd as an enemy i think. as for dogs which will do well, you are better off with one which will bay and stay rather than a jagd terrier which has only one gear( forwards) you will see the marks of raccoon in front of the set.if in doubt dont put the dog down. the dog will get older. if possible open the set(manmade) if not then a few conibear traps will do the trick( magnum, check bundesjagdgesetz) hope its a help.
  18. for the rabbit warren they use the "kaninchen teckel" (rabbit) which are dwarves. who by no means are too small for work on fox.indeed they must prove they are able and willing to be put forward for breeding.
  19. having recently returned to england from an 18 year stint in germany, where i spent every available bit of spare time hunting/gamekeeping i can only say that the dachshund is one of the finest all rounders i have had the pleasure to own. on fox, badger(hence the name dachs=badger. hund =hound/dog) and raccoon (to ground) a hardy little dog with plenty of balls. an eccellent companion in the high/ground seat( early warning system for all game!!!) and when the shot has been fired you have an eccellent tracker for any follow up, limited only by his short legs!!( not for speedy pursuit ) whic
  20. hi guys real good news to read that some people are trying to avoid being caught doing something wrong/illegal ? i spent the last 18 years in germany hunting and found that the "waidgrechtigkeit"( sportsmanship and fairness, there is no translation sorry) avoided most things you would not want to post on an internet site! ( i must say they have not as yet allowed too many restrictions to be implaced) i am afriad i find it more damaging to read "security" updates and references to "the enemy" ( this term is used in germany as reference to a neighbouring shoot!) than that some goon who is not
