sound moderator my cousin was out lamoing a few years ago and saw a cat,it turned out as it got closer that it was the size of a lab and dark in colour! but was defo a cat. a while later they caught one on camera at johnson pipes, normal cat it seemed( untill someone noticed that it was stood on a 3 ft pipe). ihave permission around shrewsbury and toward pontsbury there are lots of reports of them.lost sheep, many sitings, one farmer told me he had his tractor jumped on( paw prints on the glass the lot). back to the thread, lots of shooting stars the last few weeks. nearly stood on a racc

Mink trapping need some help!!
waidmann replied to matthewpitcher's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
try to find prints in the mud before setting anymore traps mate( or restrict the entrance of the tunnel to exclude otter) its amazing how far ranging they can be! if no mud around try a sand bed( man made),if its an otter unlucky but you will know the culprit and be able to target him specificly. happy trapping -
they will take most fodder potatoes, corn( put this in a plastic barrel with holes in the sides,so the pheasant cant get to it) conkers, acorn, sugar beat, apple and pressings of apples.mineral stones are attractive to them too. i'm not sure i would shoot on a feeding area though mate. atb

the land mass of new zealand is enormous and some spots will be unreachable no doubt. although scotland can be very remote most places are reachable. one point to bring up is that deer react better to one big disturbance( driven shoots etc) than to lots of disturbances over the season( stalking individually) although i believe individual shooting to be more selcective driven can be a good way of reducing numbers quickly. this of course requires alot of logistics and managment(not to mention man power, which can be covered by paying guests) to be done safely and efficiantly. a large part of de

i think any biologist would go wild when he heard this shit. the very idea of piddeling around with food chains, biodiversity, ecosytems is ridiculous and was given up after the australien projects. i hope. similar things have been thought up with pigs in europe to no avail( apart from a contraceptive pill). bullshit.

as above, as long as its a game carry on. short playfull training cannot start too early imo. whether retrieve, recall etc repitition is the key to automation ( an army thing, and dogs are not different!!!). just keep it fun and stop on the right note. keep the pup tired and life is easy

cheese and salami are good, better are dog type things from the pet shop, smackos, frolic anything soft and smelly. to make it cheaper you can dry game meat in the oven for a bit. a bit messy in the pocket but they are mad for it.

never heard of such like. seems pointless really.are they asking if he can shoot?( ex royal marine ) or if he is safe with the gun?see previous brackets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if he has nerves in hectic situations? whta the f@@@ do they want to know? if the guy has no ptsd or the like where is the problem? as an ex infantry man myself i was not asked for anything like this.even though the extensive training for my german hunting licence could not be considered in the process.so much for a united europe atb with his application and your basc questions bud.

great bud glad of your achievment.one tip would be not to let him drop it at your feet but to sit and not release untill you have it firmly in the hand. and i would start on fresh rabbit/feather as soon as poss. good going and let us know how it goes on. atb -
i have always had my terriers in the beating line, they work like hell, give tounge and wo there is a fox in the drive only twice have they chased a fox out of the drive and to ground, two guns went with me and the next drive went on without us both fox in the bag at the end of the day and on both occasions we only missed one drive, bargain. as long as the terrier are obiedient and not too hard mouthed then they are an asset to the shooting day added to that they can retrieve small game( if you have to carry what three terriers and a labx bring you then wear a thin jacket or keep two none sh

Delicate situation- how to handle ?
waidmann replied to welshboy454's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
try to have a word with the farmer about the problem over a cuppa.explain that you are considering fencing the wood(electric) and if he has a problem with that. if you are ok with him he may show willing to either take more care with the dogs or help with the fencing( physicly or finacially). i had a similar problem with a farmers dogs and cats,he was very undertanding, but saw no reason to change anything at all.his land and he would do as he pleased( in germany he HAD to have his land in our shoot,he also had problems with some of our guns/members and funnily none at all with me the keeper) -
good man,the dog will love them

a bit of phycology: when a pack of wolves meet another it is rarely the alpha dog/bitch which fight.they are too valuble to the pack. this problem it seems is bedded. the majority of these problems start at home(discipline) well pointed out in above posts. desensitize her,get her out with ither dogs which will not react to her.steady but firm reprimand and praise good behavior. it may just be a routine she is into but you will sort it out i'm sure.if not alone then with a trainer/terrier man who will no doubt help you out. there is no shame in asking for help, better that than a pain on t
