Expat. returning to Uk with 4 shotguns and 4 rifles
waidmann replied to kimberman's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
with ref to including on another permission. you would need to be able to give the "occupiers" name and address on your licence application as permission/need for a firearm/shotgun. a whole lot better than having to find permission on arriving in the uk. its a big ask from a mate though. glad you are getting somewhere. atb -
as above if you have no preferance as to sbs/ou then just try to find a gun you feel comfortable with. baikal are sound guns and not too expensive. the best is try before you buy on clays, if in doubt on the function there is normally someone at a clay shoot who will help out with some tips. what do you want the gun for, this may help with your choice ( semi, pump have a use too). i would not atke too much notice of the wood finish but pay more attention to working parts, barrels, safety.the wood can be sorted out with an iron and some oil as said above don't rush into it and shop ar

sorry to dissapoint but i sold up in germany before moving back. the obvious plus for you would be the aussie/uk connection( german qualifications mean nothing here). you can import firearms into the uk without too much trouble, the problem starts when you become a resident(then you must have the relevant licences). do you know anybody ith permission for deer, rabbit etc over here? they could temporarily include you. if you applied for the licences provisionally for target shooting( obvious drawbacks but at least you will be able to keep them untill you have permission) you have had a sho -
sound advice,as with any pup keep it fun. its very rewarding when a little cracker like yours starts trying to please YOU mine is now nearly 5 months and teething and so a bit contrary. but coming on well( he is scared of nowt and loves other dogs and kids, not so much the cats ). i don't know much about labs( i had a labxpointer up untill a couple of years ago) but the ones i have known were great companions, hard workers and pleasant to be around. how is yours bred if you don't mind me asking? have fun with her

i have some mp3 on my phone and the foxes seem to like that too( jackrabbit distress). i don't think its loud enough though for the ones that are a wee bit too far out. also have duck and crow calls but have yet to try them out. nice going to get a "problem fox", bet you and the guy were chuffed to bits. atb

i'm no expert mate but take the jill to the vets and have her checked, while you are there i'd pick up some spot on or something. good luck with them.
-
probably the best thing to do is call your fao and explain to him that you have since found out that you should have put EVERYTHING on the application. and if it would be possible to correct the form before it goes further. he may say you would be better off withdrawing the application. good luck.

Ferreting...How to train ferrets? What kind of game?
waidmann replied to Ratkiller's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
ferrets are best for rabbit. rats bite back too. as for raccoon and fox don't try it. ferrets are illegal in some areas of the us ( according to the internet ) -
good tips from all a good idea with as big as poss and of sturdy wire. make it so safe houdiny would get a sweat on and it should be ok for a ferret i had a rabbit cage in the house and came home to a raging ferret in the bedroom, from there she found a way behind the bath, the kitchen and everywhere else you would think a ferret would love to go! great pets, great sport whether to net,gun or dog. good luck getting them sorted.

what a trio great pics and they look like they mean buisness too. had much success to date?? keep it up.

i tried the litter tray too and gave up. they would use it once or twice but it soon became too dirty for them and they shit where they wanted again! the reply about them wanting to get right in seemed to ring true.blocking the other corners with tubes helped too. good luck.

we have now been out a few times with 5 young ferrets( only my jill had been worked) and they have all taken to it well, three hobs and two jills all running through well going deep. no big bags yet but its getting us all into the swing of things and makes good morning out. we have started them slow and are swapping over so that they all get a go. bung them down and let them get to know the game( i think thats all it is to them at first). have fun.

i'm no expert but it could be mites. a bit of spray and you are on the safe side. that said mine scratch too but don't have any baldy bits. no offence to those who have no choice in the matter atb

valid point. myxie can also be spread through mossies etc and rabbit will not just stay in one burrow.when an buck kicks off then they often move from one to another, often taking myxie with them to the next warren(let alone when rabbit die under ground and cause the others to move on). as said in my previous reply i use spot on after every outing( more or less) as i keep them in the house and prefer them flea free

the inlaws in germany breed rhodiesian ridgeback, some of them are pretty heavy others more atheletic but all were hard as nails and game as you like! allthough they can be hard headed and difficult to train. very loyal dogs and look great imo. i don't know much about long dogs but it may be a handy cross for bigger quarry( they all caught rabbit on the fields too). atb

i cannot reply if the inboxes are full lads

the only country i'm aware of that has banned wartime caliber is france. ihave used the .308 on deer and boar and got on with it well. .270 on sika in ireland and was happy with that too. good luck with your choice. atb
