  1. check the land is cleared for .22 rf with feo, he will sort it out for you( just a case of having a look if not) he will change the ticket for you( hollow point ammo??). then get stuck in once all is well and its bunny for tea atb let us know how you get on mate.
  2. a fixed scope will always have the better night value( physics). the optimum would be the 8x56 for night shooting( see docter pig scope) zeiss, leica, swarowski, kahles are the top scopes(imo in that order,i have used all four) docter is very good.choose the make(and model) that suits your style of shooting and caliber( no good putting the zeiss x72 mm on a .22rf!) what do you shoot? at what range? at what time of day or night? for lamping i would not choose a big scope( objective measurment) the available light will be more than enough for a 42-50mm of good make the others are made to shoot w
  3. i have seen a cyclops lamp on e bay ( 3.500,000 cp) anybody heard of them? worth buying or not?
  4. guess the sale is off then lads? good looking bitch.
  5. not sure about the bull in him but he looks the part how big is he? what lines? what have you got him doing at the moment? what intended? cracking dog.
  6. if you want to work the dog on boar that might be a good hold he may get a kick but they will stay still as mentioned in the post above,if you dont like what they are up to then put a stop to it,it can only reinforce your position as gaffer. atb with the piggys
  7. not too mention parasites they bring with them.who owns the wood? do you pay to shoot it? european law says it would be illegal to damage someones animal. if however this person has given up on trying to retrieve it or the recapture is very unlikely it is to be seen as owner less( therefore as a permission holder/occupier you may do with it as you see fit) just as this applies, so does the fact that these sheep are causing damage to someone elses property and as such you can endever to reduce/stop this by removing the sheep. just because it is so in europe does not mean it is so here. check
  8. exactly like that bud does he have a third "pet" what do you call it here?, the piece of bone between antler and skull( not thrown, reducing in size and angle with age) he could of caused some trouble with an unforked "spear" like that, nice cull love the pics. atb
  9. hi postillgold. i always take e first aid kit( not just for the dogs ) a tampax is always in it( good tip for filling a bullet/tusk hole) a stapler( the good doctor brings his!) and we always had a vet either invited to shoot or on call( the best is to let him shoot for free, comeraderie forbids he should charge the terrier man if sorted out on the hunt.if surgery is needed then either the hunt pays or a whip round is usual in germany) in germany if you are ASKED to use the dog,the hunt insurance( the insurance of the hunt leader/s) will cover the bill/death of the dog.most are quite good,so
  10. well done mate. how many five? nice looking gun you have there. keep it up bud
  11. lidl salami for fox, mackeral head also good
  12. hi paul, they banned the use of lead in some parts of germany because the raptors were dying of lead oxide poisoning from shot game( sea eagle etc) not sure how it affects falcon's/hawks. not heard of any trouble with dogs.humans keep shot in the stomach apparently for years to no effect. atb
  13. mine loves feathers and they clear him quite well( flight feathers from geese, ducks, pigeon) he loves em,picks them up everywhere now.when he brings them to me i spit on them and he scoffs them. feet from duck and geese do the same job and keep him busy for a while.tripe should do the job though. good luck, hope the dogs turns out well for you.
  14. hello mate i'm in telford. i find as an all rounder( bushing, ratting, rabbiting, bolting fox and retrieving of small game) the parson russel to be a good bet( i have bred them in germany and have bought one here since coming back). where are you in shropshire? what birds do you work? pm if you like. cheers
  15. the crowning takes a couple of seconds ( even gordon ramsey can do it in that last night on tv) so that should not hinder us. leaving what you do not need( debreasted carcase) for the fox i have no problem with, but put some earth over them( as you said discreet) this will stop the buzzard and crows getting to them for a short time anyway and charlie will have to dig, keeping him busy for a while longer on an open field can only be in the lampers interest.once you see that they are found then you can set up for him too ( i have found that a "tip clock" saves time on this it registers the time
  16. rats= nutella( chocolate spread) good luck
  17. i make mine at 3 1/2 feet and some a bit more than 4 ft for the dodgy holes. i have used poly linen( find the nylon nets tangle too much an d get on my nerves!) some buddys won't use anything but hemp( rots and is expensive) i find poly a good comprimise, some guys selling nets on here( buy sell swap) atb
  18. nice pic, looks like a weasel next to the dog how is the big one bred?
  19. i haerd nothing for ages mate, just left them to it. he called at 20 past eight one night and was here a week later. the give them a ring tip is not a bad idea.they are helpfull. atb
  20. falconers wont feed shot birds because the birds have a VERY acidic stomach. this reacts with lead and poisons the bird. we eat lead regularly when eating pheasant, duck etc and to no harm ( i hope not anyway ) i hve given my dogs meat from shot birds( if mangeld) and had no trouble. if feeding very often then check with a vet( dogs stomachs are more aggressive than ours too) in small ammounts i don't see a problem.if every day i'd check with a vet, atb
  21. there are places for people who don't want meat just sport. clay shoots, you can get cups of tea and have the fun without damaging the sport we all cherish. its not just about pest controll, its about using resources,IF YOU CANT USE IT SOMEONE ELSE CAN!!! put the birds or rabitts on here, freecycle, pet home, give them to neighbours or whatever but don't waste them. we are to kill with good reason(animal protection act) which pest controll is.but surely not good for the image of our sport when people walking their dogs have to climb over stinking, wasted pigeon. we need support from as many as w
  22. i'm in telford. lots of pigeon about on the stubble. not had a crack at them yet. atb
  23. i spent a week in the wicklow area stalking sika and hybrid deer. never bumped into any munty though, shame. managed 5 sika and a hybrid. i think it was ballygobben and kilranalagh i was about( excuse the spelling). atb lads
  24. cracking shot mate. nice head. as for body damage i would say that the misformation is due to a damage while in velvet and not cross lateral injury( as often seen). possible wire damageat the base, see droplet formed. if as i am guessing there is not a third base (in german a "pet" meaning the place where it grows from th skull) or an elongation/deformity of this base( which would be rather rare) all the same a smashing buck, well done
  25. the ridgeback would probably make a good pig dog.light enough, fast enough and certainly game enough for the job.my ex wife breeds them in germany they have 4 bitches who are up for anything.nice dogs. some very heavy set,i would go for a lighter one myself. atb
