  1. has she hed bad experiances with other dogs or just little contact to others? the use of an electric collar on a dog that is aggressive is not a good idea. she may associate the shock with the other dog and this will obviously make things worse. at 16 months she should still be socializeable( funny word!)is she like that with all dogs? or just bigger/stranger dogs? a command like down( submissive position) may help every time she starts. i would take her to other dogs and bring the situation on as often as poss( de sensitise). is she otherwise aggresive?
  2. is that fog or do you smoke alot in the car? how far could you see? better look/luck next time bud.
  3. a good looking dog mate. like the kennel too the best of luck with the pup. what wormer did you use? i used drontal every two weeks from eight to twelve weeks and at 13 just for good measure( he was wormed at 8 weeks with sheep wormer which i would not reccomend, very dangerous apparently). waidmann
  4. change the name to squirrel trap mate maize is well visable to pigeon and tree rats, try that mate. atb
  5. if you can see the nest then wait untill the temperature drops and then put a bag over it( being sensible as to size,if you need a bin bag then get in a pro ). if in doubt just leave it a couple of days/weeks untill they die off through cold and get rid then. any bee keeper will be able to help if you know one. atb
  6. i shot sika with the 270 in ireland a couple of years ago and was very impressed( 2 out of five were shot with this cal). as an all rounder definately a good choice imo. atb
  7. absolute cracker. got heart too running after the lure like that at that age bet you are chuffed with her.
  8. is he a miniture? a mate had one,not worked but a cracking ratter on another note "dai dogs" would you have anything to do with russels? atb
  9. been waiting 5 weeks for my fac to come from west mids police.a guy i know waited six for his so i hope it comes this week got the gun and rifle sorted and its a pain for the guy i want to buy them off too. fingers crossed that i can sort things out this week. any one else had similar experiance in the midlands?
  10. i realise that a thousand is not alot just thought that maybe someone had a good tip. i do require 5-6 and will call the farm supplies around here. thanks for the replies lads atb
  11. if setting a tunnel trap/seesaw for stoat you should leave a smaller gap at the entrance.and a 2cm gap for the weasel to escape. trap as selectivley as possible. weasel seldom last the night trapped they use too much energy. if you want to trap ferral ferret then just leave the weasel gap, pole cats are only in wales there are ferral ferrets all over the roads in shropshire, middle of the town center in telford.they are not as rare as the antis and eco warrior think. if the info says there are none in your area then i guess they must be ferral ferts?????????????????????????? skull t
  12. beutifull place mate, take some good gear as it can be wet and windy no bad weather, just bad clothing! enjoy yourself and look realisticly whether its for you. you lucky git
  13. in a shoot where i helped the keeper in germany( non paying guest/open gun) we prefered the black pheasant( tenebrosus) asthey held better in 300m above sea level. maybe just misled but they did breed and kept better than ph' mongolicus etc i know that there are no pure bred pheasant anymore but thats how they identify them over there we would not shoot any hens,if black then tough always got a giggle and around at the end of the day
  14. i like the lurcher, how is it bred? not that i would know much about lurcher anyway good looking team bud.
  15. next year that will be as tight as f~~~,green and flourishing.better than barb wire. bet the farmer is well chuffed mate. nice job.
  16. the ladder traps( i think that is what you mean) are better off big, they will be flown better as the captive birds behave normally.other than that you can catch alot of crows in these things and the more fit in the better if lacking in height the crow can "jump" back out. i would take the dimensions you have and a few pieces of 1x1,some chicken wire and off you go. don't forget the door to remove the catch and i put about a foot of wire downwards at the ladder to make it harder for them to get out. good luck.
  17. hi i am looking to buy shotgun cartridges in a 1000. where do you fellas order them from,i have found some online but would like to know some more sites or shops in the shropshire area. any tips welcome. cheers for looking.
  18. why would that be too many? if the numbers are there the damage is being done imo. no one wants to exterminate them but they should be controlled. atb and happy shooting.
  19. i have never seen pigs hunted with birds of prey before splendid pics too.
  20. i would tend towards 3-4,with the ears seeming big in relation to head and the mass of the antlers being further up. only a guess from a photo mind. good to see that you have put up a pic of the teeth( the first pre molar being the imortant one 1mm erosion =1 jear after adult teeth if that is any help). a good end of season buck bud, well done. atb and good luck with charlie
  21. i use all of my kills, either eat them myself, sell them at work or give them to the family. duck, geese, rabbit, pigeon we eat the lot. the ferrets and dog only get the offcuts. i wish there was a market for fox pelts, the next job is to find out more about tanning and do them myself i think.
  22. as above mate. keep at it and it will get better. atb
  23. if you can maintain a suitable habitat and a low predator pressure then yes. as said above the first year will mostly fall out,int the second year they will raise more( so do not shoot hens,we had a rule that if a hen was shot the gun had to pay for 5 in the next season.we did not release birds except mown out broods reared by bantam)
  24. that is very fast, the guy was trained and obviously well to become an instructor. i have never tried my rate of fire against the clock( only with bunnys) but i would be nowhere near that i'm sure. one round a second at that range even with self loading would not be easy for people not used to recoil. but i guess thats why its still a record after so many years.
  25. when i took my pup for his "check up" and jabs i was asked if i had the address of the breeder( while docked without chip) i said no and that was that. i would jab a dog myself, but i would ensure the first two jabs were done by a vet purely to ensure the cover is there.there is enough discussion whether the booster is necessary or not( as posted in working dog health).othere than that i have proof he is jabbed. the vet is a service offerer and as such should treat his customers with respect,it is not his concern whether the dog is worked or not( as long as it happens within the law!!!).
