  6. Good stuff Maltenby ,as for the shaking of the lamp, you just do what you do mate, the dog will soon adapt to your methods especially as it's just learning,it'll soon know that for instance that if you start shaking the lamp as the rabbit heads for the hedge and if he has success with catching them there he'll soon realise by shaking the lamp each time he runs that this may be his chance to nail his bunny as it looks for safety .Onwards and upwards for you both. All the best PP.
  7. You confuse me at times Border Lad ..you say in the other "100 rabits a night possible" topic that rabbit numbers have never been better in your area yet here you say "they strip and kill and leave the country bare"? It's one or the other is it not? I am sure the youth of today are out there catching big numbers of rabbits,why?..fit,enthusiatic etc:..far too many who condone or say it can't be done, why, because they haven't got the dog with the minerals capable of it or just prefer to sit in front of the fire on the blackest, windiest, wet nights the winter has to throw at us on their pc's .I h

  14. Leec,Tomo,Smoggy,Leeview and Myserbg seem to me atleast to be very knowledgable in the field and have done a bit the remaining majority on this topic imo are "calculator" hunters by the looks of things? Without question it's some feat no one can doubt that but like one or two have said GET OUT and see what can be done ..i aven't got anywhere near a hundred rabbits with one dog lamping,i have took 60+ and no doubt about it the bitch i ran then wouldn't and never could of caught another 40 BUT because i ain't done it doesn't mean it cannot or has not been done? Whether you catch one or a hundr
  15. I can recall a copy of the then Shooting News with Tommy Mcphee and his bitch on the cover with a nights catch of 122 rabbits he got up in Caithness..true or a hoax? All the best PP.
  16. As i haven't read it,could you please inform us what his thoughts & views actually were please? All the best PP.
  17. But does that mean it's RIGHT and the BEST time just because the Waterloo was ran in late Feb or early March? Many of the major coursing meetings ie:Scottish National,Barbican Cup etc: were ran in November & December and many of the leading dogs from those meets ran against each other in the Waterloo at the "championship" finale, obviously running the Waterloo in Nov/Dec would of meant that many of the other meets couldn't of been ran any sooner unless they were summertime coursers ,was it originally ran as a season's final much like they do in National Hunt horse racing for example?.Like
  18. Aye,your right chap, the majority of does are carrying young!! Another one who has obviously done nothing or little,jesus!!..hares start pairing up mid to late January ESPECIALLY further South where it is profoundly warmer by a degree or two..and where are the SUPER FENS where supposedly it's the ultimate test for running dogs?? It makes me wonder at times if anyone on here has actually ever done any form of hunting?? Rant over..sorry!! All the best PP.

Well done farmer1 on the victory and good luck in your next heat ..a tidy dog you have there matey, looks very fit for this stage of the season so good on you for getting the dog in such good order .All the best PP.
  22. What super looking pups these are,was/is the remaining puppy the biggest in the litter then or was some bigger & stronger than he? Long time since i've seen a pup of that age with legs as strong and thick as that of the white/red dog .A beautiful specimin of running dog me thinks .Not in the same health i once was but if circumstances were different he wouldn't still be looking for a home thats for sure. All the best PP.
