A small garden can also be compressive on a dog but I got to say I like to see temperament right at the forefront of a dogs behaviour engaging with its owner, It's the not engaging part I would have an issue with, as Phil recommends play and more play To just take thinks back a step, a pup is a wholly emotional creature everything it does is based on a predator template where it's attracted to everything based on how it feels inside and subsequently what feedback it gets from that interaction, When obedience is taught too young before a pup is able to digest negative interaction th

Sounds like she is experiencing some resistance to you for whatever reason , like she tuning you out Not a big fan of doing too much obedience before a pup shows me drive, as any conflicts or confrontations during formative months will come to the fore at some stage usually maturity , maybe her season has brought it to the fore Whats the reward for the retrieve by the way??

What you have in the pup is a carry on from the pups earlier stage where it was stimulated by everything and acted immediately on stimulated Your feet are the nearest thing to a prey model in the pups mind, it feels energised when out and is acting on that energy without having focus for the real thing , The more you take the pup out the less interest it will show in you and start getting a feel for the real thing , it will grow out of it I congratulate you on still having a pup focused on you at that stage , most pups have long since turned away from owners and aren't comfortable in tha

It about making a connection, dogs make connections when stimulated , when a dog is stimulated by an object it has to act , in most cases a scent can just be digested and that normally will suffice but the more powerfull the smell the more attraction it draws from the dog, It becomes a complete sensual feeling in that case which scent alone can't ground out the feeling, the top line from head to tail become part of how the dog makes contact same as how it makes contact with us , Dogs respond to humans the same way, it can't taste us , scent alone can't give it the contact it needs so i

Saw the ad there a while ago, you'd wonder what sort of lurcher man would decide that cross is the way forward or maybe he's just chancing his arm , either way i won't be putting in an offer.

The majority of breeds today were bred to kill something , it's in their nature , however when we don't address that issue is what makes us wronguns as dog owners

I don't believe dogs are born bad as you cal it, Slow backward or whatever you want to call pups not 100% at birth don't get fed by the bitch in the crib they just don't make it , they are just not given the same attention by the bitch if they don't respond to certain stimulus , I've yet to see a bad dog that wasn't just a highly driven animal with little or no direction for defusing its charge, we as working dog owners should know that fact better than anyone, The biggest problem and you can see it in terriers more than any other breed is if they can't identify an energetic target

If a dog doesn't love to bite then he most definitely Needs to bite The problem lies in not understanding the nature of the dog, The fecking dog can't speak for if he could, the first and ultimately life saving question would be, " Show me what you want to do with my enoergy" If owners of hyper stimulated high temperament high drive dogs don't address that issue it's like sealing the lid of a pressure cooker and turning the heat on

For me the whole point of Martial Arts training is been comfortable in the uncomfortable Seen people receiving their black belts after however long it took 4/5 years, physically capable of doing all the moves and fit enough for the grading but mentally if put into stressful situation would just curl up in a ball, The body can't function without the head space been right too

Is the pup given a treat for retrieving in the home and garden ?? The reason I ask this is because outside the home environment there are a world of distractions waiting for a pup which treats and fussing alone can't fulfil, Or has the pup been introduced to live game outside in which case would activate the pups prey making drive and also cause issue with interacting which is clearly low on the pups agenda If the pup is actively in hunt mode outside his mind is elsewhere Take him out very hungry , Less interaction in the home more action in the field , making training fun, don'

Brandao had blown a bit hot and cold before so it was hardly surprising when the pressure came on that he backed into the cage and halfheartedly fired out a kick , it was over in his own head at that stage I thought he was doing ok standing but then again he was taking the shots not me , he tried taking mcgregor down without much success and ended on his back shortly after that the fight went out of him, Still can't gauge where mcgregor is in relation to the top 5 but one thing that impresses about him is his ability to soak up the pressure of the occasion and use it to his advantage

What's the relationship like with the dog, these issues don't usually stand on there own

Do you give the pup much attention in the house? Some dogs develop this issue where if you are not with them or paying them attention they feel as if something isn't right , which in its worse cases lead to what normally called jealously problems , where they see another dog or person as the cause of you not paying them attention, There's a lot to be said for keeping a dog outside, basically your always the good guy, no correction for biting hands/legs tearing chewing or any of the other actions what are natural for pups but not acceptable in the home , Fussing , petting ,

There is a very interesting gun dog trainer in the US , he has a unique take on introducing pups to birds and hunting in general , his site is a real eye opener to alternative methods of entering pups , http://higginsgundogs.com/category/videos/ Interesting to see how others approach it,

Phil threw down what must be the most important issue when introducing dogs and pups to new sounds and environments, and that's the idea of Flow, If the pup can feel flow, as in, the shot going off leading to the dog getting to mouth and retrieve a prey item , then the loud noise of gun become instrumental to the good feeling of flow felt through the act of hunting , eventually the sound of the gun evoke a good feeling in the seasoned dog through association , Many years ago I had a half bred hound bitch, she was a strickly no nosense type, fussing , fawning or submission was of

The term tug training is in itself misleading, it's training in drive, it's easy to understand the owner misgiving about an interaction where you intentionally encourage a dog to bite down on an item when looking for a soft mouthed mutt but it's all about contrast, The dog is an animal bred to bite and shake it out, it's the ultimate canine objective from the wolf right down to every puppy born to a bitch but pups learn early that biting a puppy mate has consequences, so it's repressed , the same way pups are repressed by owners from biting in the following months , strong little ja

Is that the one you been scruffing and slapping ??

None of this is about sensitive ears or hearing it's about control, There is nothing about thunder or fireworks that a dog can control, we don't see wild animals , all with very sensitive hearing tearing round fields like lunatics during thunder , why, because they sit tight and by doing so, feel they control their environment , which is also why bunnys will sit tight even when they feel danger approach, it seems counter productive to instinctive behaviour but they have learnt to control their environment by doing feck all, Gun dogs associate gun shots with a driven frame of mind , t

It's the same as the young from any animal species, dogs are no different in fact they are worse, they have a higher prey making drive than most Drive is, when you break it down to its lowest point an Attraction, an emotional Attraction to whatever elements in its environment that fulfils its breed specific niche, The higher the temperament(heart) the greater the drive to make contact, All young are food driven until a certain point in there lives, it fills that emotional void but after that point every dog has a longing for a greater physical connection. On a primary level there

Desire is how fear is overcome in humans and animals , wild animals have to venture out every day to feed themselves and put themselves in dangerous situations because the desire to eat overpowers the fear inside One has to outweight the other and as one builds the other falls like a scales, your best tool to work with is the hunger in the mutt , throw out the bowl and only feed by hand on you , beside you and near fear full situations Nervous and sensitive dogs have a huge issue sustaining contact with folk a good test is to see how long the pup can keep its front paws on you whil

For me the only thing that matters is , is the pup processing the information given without efffecting the working relationship further down the road If you look at the retrieve, which is where the trainer extends his hands towards the pup again the pup reacts by prostrating itself on the floor and dropping the retrieve that to me is the seed of a growing problem of hand shyness and botched retrieving, I want a pup running straight into my space with confidence and trust and never found that making my hands a focus for a pup negative radar the best way of accomplishing this , that w

Penny makes some good points about bones and how they effect dogs Generally they allow a dog or pup to express fear and rage where no other avenue is available to do so it becomes a trigger for an emotional outburst, If a dog doesn't love to bite then he needs to bite , something, he is programmed since they first evolved to vent anger , rage , excitement and social contact , orally If we look at the protection world , handlers give pups focus for expression , start them off on small bite items , the pup can clearly identify how to express itself , when to express itself and through what
