This place never ceases to ammuse me. Punters come on here asking for folks' opinions (its always a mates dog???). then the take the huff when they dont get the replies they want. there sure seems to be a lot of accidental matings taking place. In response to the original question, if i was looking for a lurcher i dont think i would take a punt on one of your mates pups. its quite simple if the breeding is unplanned, then termination is the only responsible option. this is only my opinion of course. Mate i dont want to come accross too blunt, but if your wife has the say in what type/size/colour etc of 'working' terrier you get, i think maybe one of the toy/pet breeds wouild suit you better. Yours in sport Pernod

its when they run into schools playground across bypasses railway lines your heart in your mouth even had then in the train station lolWhat railway station would that be ???? When i used to travel a lot by train, i saw foxes almost every morning at Johnston station. Every year there was a litter or two of cubs, just as you pulled into it coming from the Kilwinning side. Mind you mate its not all negative, discovery of these pockets of deer during 'casual' strolls, does allow for more controlled channelling and driving of these nuisance deer into areas where they can be discretely harvested.(if it were legal) yours in sport Pernod

Gaz you may think that now. But picture this scenario, walking along with your wife, just a casual stroll alongside your local power station, your 'well trained' lurcher puts out 2 roe deer out of a small patch of rough ground and proceeds to course one of them straight through a carpark (plenty of workers going about their business. It is no fun i can assure you. thankfuly the dog is pish and the deer made good its escape. I have never been so relieved.(the whole area is cctv'd. I struggle to get somewhere to let the dog off. Wanted Whippet Hound Bitch Wanted To Be Lined With Bedlington
pernod replied to brenner's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
Im sorry mate your posts are just too clever for me. Either that, or you just talk pish. Perhaps if you breed your pup you could end up with pish pups. Happy hunting whatever you chose to do. Yours, talking pish Pernod -
Wanted Whippet Hound Bitch Wanted To Be Lined With Bedlington
pernod replied to brenner's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
I've read some pish in my time, christ i've even wrote some. But when you find yourself tryng to justify why on earth you would breed from a pup, maybe its time you gave the idea of breeding 'working' stock a bit more thought. An believe me an end of the dig, chewed faced grandsire wouldnt instill my breeding program with confidence. The only statement you made that i agree on is the 'take up knitting' i think you could produce better mittens and jumpers than pups. Yours in sport Pernod -
Hi mate get yourself a crate/cage and confine the dog, then let it outdoors to empty, back in crate, out to empty etc etc. Unless its especially thick it will soon associate outdoors = empty. iv only done it with pups, but they learn in a week/ish Failing that i dont know. What i will say on the rehome issue, unless you can absolutely guarantee a good home, and if you have no intention of holding on to it. I would do the right thing by the dog!!! Yours in sport Pernod

Do you keep working terriers?? Please explain why it is stupid to put terriers into rock piles.(where necessary) I know the risks involved, but there are plenty of risks underground as well. With a statement like that you must have lots of experience, please, please pass some of your knowledge on to me/us. Yours in sport Pernod

he,ll never make a lamping dog but might excell along with the ferret,s and a bitta neting. Thank fuc@ for this place. I was thinking of getting a half cross for my next lamper.Nice to know they all wont make the grade. Ha Ha I think someone should tell the Don dog that, i hear he has a sprinkle of collie in him. Yours in sport Pernod

dont get rid of dogs youve had from pups FFS. Get out and find work for them. Gettin rid is the easy option. Not driving is no excuse. When we were younger we used to get dropped off, or get train/bus and hunt or lamp all the way home. Happy days. Yours in sport Pernod

Its a bit hard to give advice without a bit of information about the dog. Have you had it from a pup??, what age is it?? if bought in as an adult, did the previous owner try him and discover him useless?? has he seen another dog work fox?? there are far more questions that need asked before anyone can realy pass comment or advise. And please dont call a dog that pokes his head in a hole game, your doing a lot of genuine wee workers a discredit. hope all goes well with the wee dog, but put more info up. Yours in sport Pernod

If you have permission then you should have told him where to go, folk of that ilk do not deserve conversation. On the other hand if you genuinely feel threatened then phone the cops and explain the situation to them i.e. going about your lawful business and having some 'weirdo' taking snapshots of you. At the very least he will have to explain his actions to plod. An a personal note i dont think i would have been as controlled as you, i take these sort of actions far too personal. Yours in sport Pernod

Tell him to go fuc=k himself. Im sure if he feels offended then he wont be a member very long. Rightly or wrongly there are quite a few anti-muslim posts on this forum, so im sure he will find a lot more to offend him.. Yours Pernod
