Yes one was a Hancock bred about 93 don't remember what the parents were the other was bred by them from a half cross they had not Hancock bred and a collie they often took ferreting and digging was really game dog the lad who had them was from near leyburn
-
I've seen good 3/4 collies catching on the tops down the dales day and night little bitch caught 34 one day working sedge grasses out and 22 was the highest on the lamp I saw her do she was often out run by bolting rabbits but as a dog for finding and catching her own stuff she was hard to beat
-
My mate had a reverse 3/4 bitch years ago was a really good dog for the ground we were running in on was outclassed on golf courses or big arable fields but she was rarely outclassed on moorland or woodland she was pretty good with teeth as well
-
I think I would try one the ground in running now would suit me and there bred worker to worker as well
-
Mine is like that pic as soon as she gets in a van sleeps all the way think someone has turned on a switch as soon as we get there my mate's wines all the way there and back in the box stopped once or twice thinking it was his van squealing lol
-
I've seen a few good dogs of this cross I bred a litter about 9 years ago pup I kept back was excellent at most things but had to be pts at 4 I didn't breed them for any other reason than they were both good workers
-
The first lad I ever saw with a bull cross went lamping and mooching about with his mate and 2 whippet they always got big bags when I saw them they worked well as a team lamping was always a whippet and the bull daytime they were all loose but every one of them dogs would work single handed it was there choice to work them how they did was always exciting to watch them don't know the wrecking crew lads but seems to be they were using the method they preferred end of

I've never owned a lab but have seen loads work and the ones I've seen on grouse moors have always seemed more athletic than dogs just used for picking up, the only drakeshead dogs I've seen were picking up pheasants they did look a bit heavier than the ones on grouse moors never seen them do much apart from picking up at the end of a drive, I would personally only use a dog that works moors or in a beating line
-
I've seen a couple do it one was from Richard Jones but it wasn't a irritating stalk if that makes sense she caught some big hauls day and night but I wouldn't of kept the other he wanted to stalk right up to the rabbits the bitch took everything and never stopped at hedges
-
No never stalked anything on the lamp run straight down the side of the beam really nice dog to own was just bred collie grey to collie grey no idea of the percentage just worker to worker bred
-
She ran everything I asked her too she was just line bred collie grey never any problem would have another if I got the chance
-
Why would you want a heavier slower whippet size bull cross to me they would have the bull cross attitude without the size or weight to do the job fast and efficient havnt seen any but seen whippet doing them and they can catch rabbits as well so why slow a whippet down
-
I had a bitch with alot of beardy in her she was really good at most things i found her very easy to live with aswell but i don't know if i was just lucky never stalked anything always flat out only problem i ever had with her was overheating on a night lamping so knew where all the cattle troughs were
-
thats sick what they did, should be caned in public and taken from there homes parents not doing much of a job my step daughter was bullied for 2 years thrown in front of a car one day school did nothing said it was not really bullying or down to them as it was outside of school she was stabbed in the shoulder with a pen when her mother refused to send her back the school took her to court it only stopped when 3 other girls said they were also bullied school tried to cover that up aswell, went to school with my wife the h

I thought that was what he told me he said the heads on some of ward's dogs were huge
-
Didn't churchy use Graham ward's stuff when he started
-
think thats who he meant
-
What size do first cross usually make does it depend on the size of the greyhound used
-
Why a Irish bred greyhound
-
Certainly done alot with his dogs and it's the first time I've ever seen the man kick off there's more people on hear spouting shite than anything else give the man a break
-
he sent me the write up he did about derry when he lost her so i could print it and pass it on to dom we message odd times just to see how were getting on he seems a nice lad
-
derry was really full on with everything she did she started lamping up the dales about 8 months old and was ferreting from 6 months the ground we were working most of the time wasnt really suited to her style of running she hit a few stone walls and im pretty sure she lost some teeth before she was a year old hitting a rock as she struck a rabbit. when we were local she did hares single handed quite easily really but dom wanted a dog he could run most dark nights and she often got knocked about with her running style thats how mike ended up with her and i think she did we
