For a start hunting, with dogs, ferrets, or guns, is legal. These scumbags were setting pitbulls and crosses against each other in pits which just happens to be illegal. Ibinson found one dog which looked like it had been shot in the face with a sawn-off. These folk heroes used to kill their losing dogs by plugging them into the mains with crocodile clips. Bad things happen even on the legal scene but we don't want that to happen. Well, I don't. I kill but I try to kill clean and quick. You may enjoy inflicting pain for the sake of it but most hunters feel differently. Ric

Borrow a JRT for a couple of nights. Then you get a load of tiny ball bearings, drop 'em in the water and boil it dry. You end up with a lot of ball bearings covered in sugar. Scatter 'em on the floor last thing at night. The mouses think they are sweets and swallow the ball bearings. Then you walk round next day with a bloody big magnet and you get mouses pinging out of their holes and z

Some of you guys should learn to read. Every country in the world that has set up "shooting galleries" has seen a massive reduction in petty theft, street crime, violent crime AND drug addiction rates. Switzerland used to be as right wing as some of you clowns. Since they decriminalised heroin and crack the crime rate has gone down by 40%. Like it or not liberal drug regimes save the taxpayers money. Just for the record I've tried a lot of drugs, never used a needle. Ric

Hi, thanks for your interest. Yes I mean target shooting. I thought that by going down this route to get my F.A.C. I would benifit by having the instruction, especially on the safety aspects of shooting rimfire and having the facilities to sight in and practice with competition. I live Northumberland and I will be seeking permissions and clearances but I am not sure about being cleared for the golf course where I only shoot after hours lamping with the air rifle. Maybe it would be suitable for .17 rimfire, I dont know as it all seems to be a bit of a grey area reading stories from around th -

My daughter bought me one of the funniest birthday cards I have ever seen. On the front was a picture of a bloke wearing a white coat, stethoscope round his neck, lamp on a headband. Strikes me as time to stand back and consider what we are, or may be, up against. First thing to realise is that we are just about to go off at half-cock. This is not a good idea for anybody, and as riflemen we really should know better! In his starter post Bobthefox said he had heard that there is a real chance that some legislation limiting night shooting may be passed. There is a lot more to getting legislation passed than the police expressing a wish list. A 223cz says, you must get your FAC conditioned for field use. If you were to be found using your rifle in the field with only target use conditioned you could lose your FAC for life. Talk to The Man, check if the land is cleared for rimfire but get your ticket altered before you even take your gun to the permission RicW

Kahles 8x56. Full stop. No messing. Wide field, fast target acquisition, designed for low light conditions, oldest riflescope makers in the world. Not cheap but you only buy 'em once. However, I have long understood that mining bees in brickwork are protected. Whatever, we agree leave 'em alone they are lovely little creatures and do no harm to anyone. Jack- If you're after coloured film try a camera shop! No, I'm not taking the wazz, you can get different coloured sheets of film to use over lights for SFX. Maximal light transmission so they won't dim your lamp too much. Ric

If the daft old bat has had her cat doing a lurk around her garden I'm not surprised the birds don't go there. The bloody moggy probably et 'em all. You clearly have a decent size garden, your family own the property so unless the dogs are causing a nuisance by barking all the time 4 should be no problem. I've had 16 in a terraced house before. Finings are derived from catfish swim bladders nowadays. There are, however vegan alternatives. So the silly buggers can drink themselves into a stupor with a clear conscience. Still have to take Vit B12 supplements derived from animals though. No way round that, that I know of. And before the Anti-spotters get going, no I'm NOT a bloody vegan. Or a vegetarian..... or an Anti..... You just know a lot about beer Droid and me both. We're bikers dammit! -
