  1. Yah. Bolted to a solid wall out of sight is what they want. Rawlbolt it to the back wall and you're well legal.
  2. First read your post I thought you meant you'd got 37 mink! Now that would be a day out . . .
  3. Whoops. Missed! Put my last reply on the wrong strand. See above. PS they were J.J.Coppock Marine.
  4. Thanks people. Glad to have my prejudice against zooms confirmed! Probably settle for the Aldis and start saving for some class glass . . . RicW What a helpful bunch of people there are on this site! All useful advice. My old binos belonged to my father and he bought them when was demobbed in 1946! He always insisted on the rule of five: the diameter of the object lens in mm should be at least 5x the magnification, so 8x40, 10x50 and so on. He was a bomb aimer in the RAF so he knew a bit about optics. The Leupold range appeals; they do several 8x42s which would meet the rule, and there
  5. I found two interesting sites on FACs, put up by the West Midlands Police. Google in "west midlands police deer" and you will get links to their sites on "Vermin Control and Deer Stalking" and "Good Reasons." To some extent they may reflect the views of West Midland FEOs but still worth a look. They won't give you a variation to use a .303 for shooting bunnies!
  6. Not surprised. It was the Labour government that banned private ownership of 22 pistols. Nanny knows best. RicW
  7. Would a Humane dispatch tool be acceptable? I know they require FAC. I've used a Hilti attaching tool with .32 ACP cartridges and it had no problems with 1/2" steel plate! Might be worth asking your FEO RicW

  9. Looked at the remington site. Smallest (ha!) calibre is 17 remington fireball. 4000fps 710 ft pnds. Zero at 200 yds gives PBR 50-250 yds. RicW
  10. you could use it close up but it more where you put the shot head or neck, cheers sounder cheers sounder IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE ANY RIMFIRE TO SHOOT FOX RicW Dear Mr Newbie...... I don't know who you are but best not to shout until you know what you are talking about. I and many others have my .22LR, .17HMR and .22WMR specifically conditioned with the word FOX!!! Fair enough guys. My apologies. I got the impression from the pinned site on FACs that only centrefires could legally be used on fox. Just reread it, I'd read more in than the author intended. RicW

  13. As I understand stainless resists wear better. Tends to be used in barrel burners - small calibre high velocity steep twist rifles. (.220 Swift leaves barrel at 155,000 rpm). b*****d to machine so not used in actions. RicW
  14. Any advice on spotting binos? Low mag wide field? High mag narrow field? Zoo-o-om? They'll be used with 17 HRM but maybe later with 22 centrefire. My old 10x50s were good in their day but they're bloody heavy and crap optics by today's standards. RicW
  15. Any advice about spotting binos? Wide field low mag? Narrow field high mag? Zoom? Rangefinders? They'll be used with 17HRM but maybe a 22 centrefire later -I hope! RicW
