Shorter version - "F**k 'em all bar one - And he can f**k himself"

Yes mate :clapper: I hope that isn't as in "Don't Crystal Meth with me . . ."
-
:thumbs-up: Remember boy`s what the initial post was about. For all the one`s that are lost in there own little world its the text above, lol. So no need for pasting the reloading charts pish in an attempt at trying to convince folk that its a more complex than what it actualy is :thumbs-up: Sorry Shotgun we're hijacking your thread. Remington or Sako in 243 will do the biz. Keep your 22-250 as a fox gun. If you're out with the 243 and you get a shot at a fox then it's goodnight Charlie. ATB, Ric the armchair man

Mr L - Like I said - I am quite prepared to admit that I'm a bit of an armchair expert. You say 1-in-10? I accept that as the view of someone who has, as they say, been there, done that. And hey - if it ain't broke don't fix it! Now 40 years back you and me with my .303 sniperised Lee-Enfield, heavy starred barrel, blueprinted action, Parker-Hale peep sights, 12" square targets . . .at 300 yards . . . Bugger the theory I'd have outshot ya! ATB Ric

Dead right. The Epie pens are the adrenalin injectors I mentioned. I don't know if you can buy them over the counter but if you explain why you want one I'm sure your doc would give you a prescription. 7 quid to save your life sounds like a good deal to me. Ric

Mr Logic - I like your logic! Even the Wiki entry queried whether there is room in the market for two such similar 6mm rounds. Theory bows to practical knowledge. Shotgun, I withdraw the suggestion. I stand by the idea of getting a fast twist barrel though, 1-in-10 or even 1-in-8. It will stabilise the longer, ie heavier, bullets which you will be loading for deer. Ric

That's the other benefit our dearly beloved widely admired government gets. If his appeal had gone to court people might have dug up stuff that would smell very nasty indeed. The deal was "Drop your appeal and we'll let you go". Read Robert Fisk in the Indy Ric

Wasn't Broad 'kin awesome? I've rated him since we played New Zealand two years back. Move over Freddy, let the new guy through! Ric
-
Fair comment. It hits over 4050 fps with 55 grain! I was thinking fast twist and stick to long heavy HP, as a dedicated deer gun. Ric

Anti-histamines help but if you are likely to be messing with wasps you really need to get an Adrenaline injector. Just slap the end on your arm, pressurised container blasts it straight in. Peanut allergy sufferers carry 'em RicW

Independent today (22/08/2009) Quote "British businesses are poised for a Libyan windfall as convicted terrorist is released." Well f**k my boots. Who ever would have expected that? RicW

As of now Australia 119 all out. Stuart Broad is a- fukken - mazing.

Shotgun - I note you live in Edinburgh. The Scottish section of the Deer Act calls for minimum figures, for Red, Sika, Fallow, of:- bullet wt. 100grain, bullet must have predictable deformation, ie SJHP not fragmenting accutip &c; MV 2450 fps, ME 1750 ft.lbs .243 acceptable, .270 Winchester recommended as heavier bullet gives better one-shot lethality. Me in my armchair again but that's what the law says. Ric
-
Since we're all being so rude I'll throw in my armchair expert view. Weatherby .240 Magnum. Muzzle velocity 3406 fps, ME 2576 ft.lbs. At 100yds velocity 3136 fps, Kinetic energy 2187 ft.lbs. Actually, any 6mm will be up to the job if the guy shooting it is also up to the job. Ric

In his initial post he bragged about shooting a fox in the eye with a sub-12 Home Office regs for FEOs. "No airgun is to be cleared for fox". They are talking FAC air not sub-12 popguns. Well out of order sonny boy I don't find anything funny about blinding an animal and leaving it to die in agony. What chance does the poor brute have of NOT getting gangrene?

OK. FORGET ALL THE CRAP. JUST PLAYED STEPPENWOLF. BORN TO BE WILD. I'M LIKE A TRUE NATURE'S CHILD, JUST BORN TO BE WILD . . .

Funny thing is that the "Levellers" were an anarcho-communist movement who believed in living off the land. Now New Model Army - there's a great band! Ric

Paulus - I would like publicly to apologise for my ill-judged post earlier on this thread. What I was trying to say was that, as someone with no practical experience of centrefires in the field, I was puzzled as to why you were looking at a smaller calibre for fox, rather than going to a larger calibre. This, I think, is a fair question, in keeping with the ethos of this forum. I wanted to get the benefit of your experience so that I can avoid mistakes in the future. Having re-read my first post, it is very clear that it came over as a finger-wagging rant from someone who, frankly, doesn't kn

Steph Truth to tell, I don't know. The Independent recently ran a series on bumblebees, and said that there are a few colonies of Violets in the south of England which could be self-sustaining, but they look so scarey that people tend to swat first and think later. I just want to meet one! I can send bumblebees to sleep on the back of my hand and I'd love to try that with a big furry purple swarm. . . . Ric UPDATE! I have just read that Violet Carpenter Bees are thriving in the Channel Islands! They are on their way . . . Roll on global warming! Ric
