There's this little Welsh village. One day a fair turns up, they have this show that says "If you can make my donkey laugh you win £50" Taff goes up, says "I'll give it a go". Goes behind the curtain, next thing is the donkey's laughing his head off. Ho-ho, Taff comes out, the stall holder gives him his 50 quid, asks how the hell he managed it. There's this London Yuppie driving through Wales on his holiday. He comes up to a place in the road where he has to drive through a stream. He's in a drop-top BMW. He stops, looks across the road, sees a guy sitting on a fence. Calls out "Oy! You! Taff you bloody yokel. Is it safe for me to drive through here? Taff looks at him, says "Should be ok boyo". As said above, you must make sure the police and the airline are aware of your plans. After all, if some guy tries to walk onto a plane with a 270 in his hand baggage it might give the wrong impression. Then you see your mate and call out "HI Jack" and the s**t hits the fan! However you cannot take expanding ammunition abroad. You can arrange for a RFD to deliver ammo for collection at your destination, but I imagine that if you are using a popular calibre you will be able to buy ammo in SA without much hassle. RicW

using a .243 sound moderator for .22-250

Hang on a mo . . . If your dad has his FAC conditioned for a moderator on the 22-250 no sweat legally. Whether the 243 mod is safe to use on the 22-250 is another question. I'd say yes but I can't claim to speak from experience. Theory says yes but don't find out the hard way! Ric -

There was a thread a few weeks back about a cheetah on a wild life park. It was hand reared and was being trained to chase down rabbits so when it fathers cubs it can train them ready to put them back in the wild. It is perfectly legal! The legislation bans hunting with dogs. Says nowt about cats! Ric -

First make of choice in 22lr target rifles is Anschutz. No ifs or buts. CZ are great sporting rifles but if your main interest is target shooting then Anschutz do sporterised versions of their target arms. To get started you could still do a lot worse than pick up a 2/h BSA falling block. I started with one 45 years ago! Bloody good little guns, but being single shot not really on for field use. Ric

Another thing . . . These are the same people who pay over the odds for "organic " food and free range eggs. Have their dim little minds ever contemplated what a fox can do to their feathery friends? Bit more to it than that but you gotta larf. The really funny one is what they do on base. Where they're supposed to have say 6 rings around the middle they whizz round like, well like spiders on speed, and make about 60 rings. Then they crash out for 3 days and start again. PS just been listening to Dave Bowie "Ziggie Stardust and the Amazing Spiders from Mars".

But what about the rights of the bunny-wunnies and the poor ickle foxy-woxies? If howwible people like us keep shooting at them/ chasing them with big ugly dogs,/ little ugly dogs /netting 'em,/snaring 'em . . . they won't be able to exercise their wight to eat our food, fk up our farmers and generally act as PESTS. I'm at university (at the ripe old age of 61). I once "admitted" being interested in shooting and nearly got myself lynched. Apparently even pure target shooters are evil because they are just sublimating their real desire to kill innocent creatures. Mind, there is one guy I've met who is Ukrainian and ex-Spetsnatz. I get the opposite from him. Mention 22lr and he sneers at me and starts on about his Dragunov 14.5mm. Can't bloody win! Ric
