While waiting to get my FAC back (fingers crossed) I've been doing a lot of theoretical research, working out what guns to go for. I recently found that it is possible to handload the 22WMR. Not reload, the soft brass used in rimfire cases deforms too much, but handload new factory brass. The WMR takes the .224 bullet that all the 22 centrefire rounds use. Has anybody on this site tried handloading WMR? RicW

As Fin and Fur said, any soft fruit will work. Also any high proof spirits. Just that so far as I'm concerned it ought to be GIN. I like my GIN cos it makes me SIN. . . . Ahem. Yeah, any soft fruit, left to soak in a 70 proof spirit, will infuse loads of alcohol, taste WONDERFUL, and rot yer teeth. Like I said before, add sugar and brewer's yeast to the mix and it will be LETHAL come Christmas. But at least you'll die with a smile on yer face . . . Ric

Thanks very much Michael - any help will be most greatly appreciated pal. All the best, Grim. Stevens used to make a .410 bolt action with a 5-round magazine. I did a v.quick google search and apparently they can still supply spares for it. Might be the way to go. Just don't mutilate the Enfield cos if you do I'll hold a voodoo mass and put a major curse on you! Ric

Linked question. In the ordinary way you need a Natural England Wildlife permit to shoot game birds with a shotgun having a magazine capacity of more than 2 rounds. You can, however, get an FAC conditioned to allow the purchase, and use for control of corvids and pigeons, of a long magazine shotgun. Can you use such a shotgun to shoot geese? Armchair man again. NO. Fox are now classed as medium quarry, and you are very unlikely to get a condition to use rimfire "for the purpose of " shooting foxes. If you have a rimfire for the "purpose of" killing "pest species" you may also get a condition for "occasional fox" . . . ie close range head shots. Seems about right to me. Ric
