  1. Getting this thread back on track! I would suggest this particular cross works well because the bull cross makes up for where the saluki cross lacks and vise versa, crossing 2 very different specialists. If the 'mixing pot' is stirred right it produces dogs that lack in very little. But as with all breeding it matters ALOT on the strengths of the parents as individuals.
  2. "review the Hunting Act" those words are making me nervous already...
  3. A friend of mine has a bitch that aparantly has glen of imal in the breeding. deerhound/greyhound/glen is the way the dogs bred, supposedly... The dog came from notts, dunno if anyone can elaborate...
  4. Now that really put a smile to my face! A very moving video. cheers Callum That was my first reaction!! Tom Mine too, who ever that little lads parents are should be very proud to be raising a kid with such a good attitude.
  5. I would imagine alot of damage could be done with a decent multi shot air rifle and a NV sight...
  6. If i was after an 'out n out' rabbiting dog, i wouldnt be looking much further than these.
  7. 1/4 wheaton. About 11 months old in these pics
  8. bloody talented! thats the sort of art i like
  9. cracker mushroom! turn the screen upside down and ya really cant tell the difference, lol
  10. On paper yeh, in reality no. Remember each parent only passes on half their genetics, so in theory they could both pass on the greyhound halfs or the saluki halfs and end up with a very heavily saturated greyhound or saluki pup that on paper is still a 50/50 sal/grey.
  11. Crackers! Love the coat on your big dog. Not long now untill both ours will be getting their first taste of proper graft...
  12. I wonder if its because people either want bull crosses or wheaton crosses? Too snobby to accept a cross of the 2 types! If i was after such a lurcher currently, i would jump at the chance, especially having the reasurance of knowing its a reeat breeding, so i could see/hear how the previous pups are going.
  13. Same shit, different day... Untill the hunting world unites i dont beleive theres feck all we can do. So ill carry on with my business and so will everyone else while the silly little bunny huggers worry themselves stupid over what they think we all might or might not be doing. Keep ya heads down, be sensible and use whats between ya ears...
  14. Your a rare breed sir, unfortunately getting rarer.
  15. If that article is the worst that comes as a response to the cumbrian incident then we have been very lucky.
  16. Aston martin Vantage! hell fire they are beautifull! Lotus exige is just raw engineering and for the price will out match most things out there. And of course every countryman wants a landy, even if it does spend more time at the mechanics than in the fields, lol. At the mo ive got a VW Golf estate................. one day ill have my aston, lol.
  17. I for one would be interested to hear how they differ. SP gave his opinion a few months ago, as im sure you know he feels the wheaton lurcher wants the kill over asap whereas the bull cross often likes a bit of combat once having caught its quarry (of course neither can be faulted on their gameness just because of thier styles). We always hear the same old shit on these threads, very rarely does someone actually give their opinion on how the two crosses differ. Just tell me to feck off if you would rather not go into depth.
  18. Balistically, the bb shot is the best size for foxing, taking into consideration minimum required penetration for a humane kill and pattern density. Everybody has their preference, but ill stick to what does the job the best. Also a max of half choke is widely regarded to be the most appropriate for the larger shot sizes (and bb deffinately falls into the larger shot size catagory), as tighter chokes cause the pattern to blow up due to the tight constriction for the large pellets giving stray pellets and a f****d pattern. Ive used 36grm loads in my auto to great effect out to 35 yards (which i
  19. The dog isnt chewing because it particularly wants to destroy its kennel. Dogs chew to relieve tension and stress, the act of chewing releases calming hormones. If the dog wasnt stressed, it wouldnt chew. All dogs need something to chew for this reason, keeps them happy. Obviously however chewing up the kennel isnt good. As has already been said, sounds like the dog needs more training and exercise than its getting. But might also be worth getting it a big rope toy to chew and give it bones now and again. Like i said dogs chew to releive tension, how would you feel if when you were stressed an
  20. Also, you can order the fox grids ready made, i think they are about 60 quid for 10. We just make our fox grids by nocking up a rectangular frame out of 1.5" square lengths of wood and then drill holes through the horizantal lengths to slide these cheap metal rods we get hold of. Works spot on, takes 15 mins to make and costs f**k all. However a 6 quid a grid thats not bad at all
  21. bull x's aren't bred for speed are they................... Or brains Now youve opened a can of worms! A proper bull is a game bred animal............ So what do you think it will put into a lurcher?
  22. Second pic really is a cracker, not sure what it is about it but its a belter!
  23. Cant beat the old photos! Hows your pup coming on? I really like the look of the ones you had for sale and the parents.
