  1. The control of cats is a sensitive subject amongst countrymen. It brings out all the macho twats as well as the 'almost an anti but I like shooting' types as well as the keepers, cat owners and dogmen. Theres certainly room for healthy debate on this topic and I have given my personal opinion early on in the thread. But ffs dont drop your ethics or act like a child just to piss off the 'opposition'.
  2. You really dont belong in the hunting world pal. No Shooting/hunting man I know actually enjoys killing, they enjoy hunting and everything that goes with it. If ya so keen on just killing, go buy some mice and drown em to get ya jollys because no one here wants shit like what you have just typed being quoted and tarred on the rest of us!
  3. Well im fecked then! I spend 8 hours a day sat at work + 1.5 hours driving
  4. Is it possible to legally run a wolf with dogs anywhere in North America Dan? Has anybody actually tried it in more recent years? I dont doubt what you say for a second, just wondering.
  5. Not so.. The red fox considerably varies in size throughout it's whole global range. The red fox populations in the middle east average at about 3 kilos, while the European average is around 10 kilos or over. This depends on various factors, population density, food availability and possibly Bergmans rule, which states that the same species of animal increases in size the further it gets from the equator. The average european fox is 22lb+! Makes that 26 pounder sound average...
  6. Is the working ability of the stud not of primary importance to you with this breeding?
  7. Your collar sales will plumet now! Just dont have the same rep walking a 'yorky' haha Little cracker
  8. She looks a cracker anyway. Well put together bull lurcher
  9. as said mate me really.this dog dose every thing to please, and has a hell ov alot the past week...i think most would be happy with her She sounds spot on then. Why do you think your struggling to bond with her if you dont mind me asking?
  10. I genuinely believe some dogs are just independant buggers that only tolerate being 'in the pack' because its beneficial for them. I think the type I am trying to describe will and do bond but its not the 'eyes for his master and his master only' type of bond, more 'your the boss but I work with you not for you'. Just my ponderings...
  11. Great read! Bet the young lad was buzzing having slipped the big dog. That waterworks sounds like a bit of a terriermans dream for foxing. Is it quite extensive? I would be making plans for them spare pipes... haha
  12. Thanks for that Penny, I understand what your saying. Seems schuck is showing more early promise then? Still very young yet though of course, wouldnt be the first time the apparntly more imature of 2 pups proved to be the better given time and a carefull handler. As for my bitch, I think I've got what I wanted in many respects but that all depends on how she fairs next season with the tasks I had in mind for her before I even set eyes on her. Be nice for you to see her again now shes not such a daft arse pup and see if you can give any more usefull advice. atb Ben
  13. I think thats the best description you have ever given of your dogs dan. Gotta say, really like that sort of temperament in a sighthound. Penny, from our chat a few weeks back you said how driven these pups of yours are. Actively hunting from a very young age. I dont know if you recall but I had the same, 'problem' if you will, with my wheaton/collie bitch and I as a result (also due to huge inexperience) really struggled to teach her the patience that ferreting demands and so now I have a dog that hunts like a demon and has to be kept on the slip while ferreting to stop her slying off beh
  14. Same. Works very well for me. Also i find the rabbit have far less damage once a hob is on the scene as the hob will bully the rabbit fast and get a relatively clean kill to the neck. My experience with jills is they often hammer the rabbits back end as they dont have the strength to push past to the head and neck area. Ive dug rabbits to my smallest jill in a hell of a state but perfectly alive, yet when digging to my hob or others hobs the rabbits are dead with minimal damage, usually bruising to a shoulder and heavy damage to the neck. Just my experience mind...
  15. There been a 30lb 20tts fox posted on here before. Cant remember if it was shot, dug or dogged with lurchers but im fairly sure it was shot.
  16. So not only have you told the world when your going poaching, youve also basicaly told the world where! Crack on fella
  17. These airedale lurcher pups are showing promise. How old are they now?
  18. why would any idiot want a terrier that only does twenty minutes in the ground and the guy who selling it is a even worse idiot no wonder there is so much junk about some idiot's need to work dog's like this where you cant dig to foxes be it a rock face or goes as deep as 40 / 50 foot these type of dogs account for more foxes and can be used to find out the depth of the places you work whats the point of putting a staying dog some where that it cant be dug too it worth its weight in gold Some people get too caught up in the "only terriers worth keeping are 100% stayers", th
  19. Unfortunately it really doesnt surprise me with some of the people that are invovled with lurchers. I would gladly take a tool to the cruel buggers
  20. Better luck than we had. Out all morning and found f**k all.
  21. HAHA, keep typing, your funny as feck!
  22. As far as im concerned a foxing lurchers true worth is during the day. So the dog has to have a good nose, hellish prey drive and desire to hunt. Also be in tune with dogs working cover, terriers working earths and yourself makes daytime lurcher work more productive. Give me a lurcher that finds, catches and kills during the day but may only be able to be worked once a week over the gamest point and fire type any day. However, nobody can deny how usefull a good bull lurcher is.
  23. Mine was just like that. Regularly just pissing off on walks from 4 months old for up to an hour at a time hunting, jumping the fence in the garden the second she knew she was out of reach to look for cats in the village, she even ran as fast as she could from me across a field because she remembered seeing a hare in the same field days ago so she went looking for it, problem being she decided to hunt the rough banking next to the A1 looking for her imaginary hare!!!! As hard as i tried me and her just couldnt bond, I took her everywhere with me and training everyday but she was such an indepe
  24. Depends how 'well' trained the dog is. Should still have a few years left in it yet and would be ideal for someone wanting a dog to work while they bring on a pup perhaps. Anyway the dog looks well put together and a nice type imo.
