it wouldnt be a group as such but family and only close family, i dont bother with alot of people as it is so choosing friends wouldnt be a problem. as they say blood is thicker than water :yes: well in some cases as i could happily right 1 or 2 off first things first i would keep the group to around 10 - 15 people / family members safety in numbers and all that i would raid the closest doctors / chemist ect for all the drugs / medicines that you are likely to need you would have to keep atleast 2 dog for early alarm for canibles or other animals, and for hunting and

He's bloody fast over sprint distances, no doubting that. But I am always left feeling a little dissapointed with him as an athlete. His attitude to his training and racing is very amusing and loveable but equally I just expect more. He has this amazing natural tallent yet admits to not training that hard and only being 85% fit. He always starts to pull up when he knows he has won. Why not train for the 400 as well which has been mentioned before but requires a more technical run and a fair bit more training. The man really has the potential to leave an untouchable legacy but he's happy ju

What are you gibbering about now.....you'd be dead within 3 days with lack of Irn Bru or McDonalds ffs.......... If there was wild animals still roaming the place then a few snares would be handy, if should be looking to eat once every 2 weeks with them set... I'd like a dog that could catch game as well as find it and the rest i'd make up along the way. Probably be dead quite shortly after............ I wasn't suggesting that at all Scot. I used the word 'towny', as it's a generalisation for someone that is far removed from the countryside and nature. There are probably just as many people in towns/citys that could survive as there are in the countryside these days.

Moral dilemma Penny. Hard times require hard decisions and hard men/women. My instinct would be to f**k off on my own so I have only myslef to consider. But logically survival would be increased in a smallish group. Naturally people would want to support their loved ones, but what happens when those loved ones just aren't cut out for a 'wild life'? I suppose even the biggest 'towny' could be given jobs to do as long as they were willing. Simple fact is I would bust my gut for an individual if they showed willing and heart but if one just didnt even make an effort then they would have to be fec

I guess the dogs you kept would be dictated by the quarry hunted. The way things stand a brace of decent lurchers would certainly be beneficial to a savvy hunter. They would obviously have to be a very tough sort and you couldn't possibly expect to keep your entire blood line, too many dogs for a survivor. If pigs and cattle turned wild and were a quarry a whole different animal would be needed. Big bully hound type I suppose. For a lone nomad a small but handy terrier type thing would be ideal. Hunting makes me feel content and forfilled. It's such a strong basic instinct that I couldn't possibly live a healthy life without feeding that instinct in some way. Some folks unknowingly feed it with some sort of sport or hobby, wildlife photography for instance, but for those of us like myself, only the real thing truely satisfies the ancient hunter within. And that's the crux of the issue right there Cleanspade. To see two women/girls compete with blood & guts in combat just goes against a very basic feeling in males. That's not to say it's wrong or they don't deserve to have the right. There's a fine line somewhere.

That girl never fails to amaze me! She makes the other competitors look like they aren't trying. Sir Chris Hoy is in the men's keirin today as well. Hoy won't race for a Gold until tommorow though assuming he makes the final. Pendleton is great BH if it wasn't for being disq in the sprint she'd probably be a triple gold medalist. I was gutted for her and her team mate in the sprint. But particularly for Pendleton as it's her last Olympics. You might be right mate, maybe they should stop spending money on scientific advancement and chuck it all at Africa eh..? no, carry on with useful scientific advancements, mars etc is only being explored to satisfy our curiousity imo. It's a fecking good job some of you don't make the decisions because we would have feck all to protect nor the knowledge how to attain it. I bet you all have sat navs, mobile phones etc etc. The people that make such things didn't just have a premonition one night. Such things are just a few examples of tech developed from years of seemingly useless scientific research. Einstein's theory of special relativity any use to any of you lot? Genuine question.

There are always causes that are more worthy in terms of short term benefits. Why should Billions go into scientific research when all that money could go towards buying struggling pensioners a hot meal everyday or better equiping hospitals? It's a hard decision to justify but the difference is clear when you look at the long term benfits of such research as well. In the future pensioners will be better off and hospitals more effective because of such aparantly useless science and not inspite of. There's never a 'good' time to fund research with the view you take lab, but there is a bigger pic

I bet one of your ancestors said the very same thing when America or Australia was discovered. Exploration is one of the pinnacles of human achievement. Look at all we had to discover to get to this point through all the different technologies, from basic maths to discovering materials and new ways of using them etc. Slightly different as we already had life on Earth when that happened so not so much of a unrealsitic view that somewhere there would be other people. These planets have been watched for years....dont they have mega telescopes seeing right onto them and have seen nothing.

The US government don't pour Billions of dollars of funding into NASA and the like because they want to write a big science book, they do it because of the technology that comes back out for use in everyday life and for other areas of government. The books add up pretty well and they recognise such research as very worthwhile adventures. It's a difficult thing to see for the average Jo who hasn't had anything to do with research but it's there in black and white for those who are actually interested to see.
