We don't eat roasts past about 3pm. It's incompatible with our dialect! And I have to make my own sarnies, lol. To be honest, I say lunch a lot now but it bugs me that I have been converted. Maybe it's because the world's so much smaller these days with the Web and TV and ease of relocation. There's not so much regional isolation and dialects cross with some parts getting lost for whatever social reasons. Well that's what I reckon.

Homosexual yanks. And probably the french.

LOL, here you go, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_(meal) "Tea (also known as high tea or meat tea) is one name for the evening meal. It is associated with the working class and is typically eaten between 5 pm and 7 pm. In the North of England, North and South Wales, the English Midlands, Scotland and in rural and working class areas of Ireland, people traditionally call their midday meal dinner and their evening meal tea (served around 6 pm), whereas the upper social classes would call the midday meal lunch or luncheon and the evening meal (served after 7 pm) dinner (if formal) or supp

And midlanders don't like being called northerners! LOL. But yeah, it's a class thing. Traditional working class have dinner and tea. Traditional middle class have lunch and dinner.

What's happened to all these parental/mum come backs today? When having a mardy and frowning like f**k because of being forced to go somewhere I didn't want to go I'd always get; "Keep pulling that face and the wind might blow and it'll set like that!".

I don't really agree with that. I would agree that the EU is not a communist state/project by the true definition but it's economic policies are left leaning. Not quite socialists perhaps but social democrats..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurosocialism Our EU membership was opposed by Militant, and is still opposed by SWPand, the Communist Party of GB, other "hard left" factions, who condemn it as "capitalist". Why do they oppose it but Corbyn (a communist/socialist) supports it ? Because he ain't really a hardline commy is he. EU politics are dominated by social democrat
-
The 'honorable' Mr Corbyn quite explicitly loves the EU for it's ability to force the UK to fall in line with his socialist/environmentalist politics. He doesn't agree with the politics that are a result of our British democratic system but does like the politics of the EU and so looks to undermine our politics by way of EU membership! It's literally a strategy of using foreign forces to control your own country to undermine a democracy that you do not like! The only time he shows any patriotism is on EU policies that threaten his own politics, like TTIP.

What's the crack with everyone calling the last meal of the day dinner and the midday one lunch these days. When I was a kid, you ate dinner at 12-1 and tea at 5-7.

I don't know if this quite qualifies but I certainly hear it less, 'yon', in the context of; "Where's owd Jack live nah then?" "Ova yon 'ill"

mum wheres dad he;s gone to see a man about a dog Yep, got that all the time too.

"MUUUUUMMMMM, when's dad home?" "He's run away with a black woman!" WTF was that all about? LOL

Don't start that one again!

Fantastic post. It's a shame that this sort of grounded thinking is not the predominant line in today's sensationalist social media world.

I think I read the RN lost 14 ships in that one battle. That's more than our entire modern frigate fleet and over double our destroyer fleet!

Sometimes I do think that Australia and New Zealand are the last bastions of England. They're very much their own people but they seem to have held on to something that we lost a decade ago....

Anybody Make Yew Tree Bow?
Born Hunter replied to Lenmcharristar's topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
How good would it be to stalk and kill a roe or even red in English woodland with a bow? What a fantastic experience that'd be for a hunter...... -
Just read that article in full, so in reality he now leads Clinton (narrowly!) but still trails Sanders in other polls! Add to that the expected boost in support to the remaining Democrat when decided leads me to believe he still has a long way to go yet. With respect to Trump rally disruptions by Dem' radicals it reminds me of a great quote; "I'm told that Democrats are being paid to protest at my rallies!........ I'm not even president yet and I'm already creating jobs!"
-
But Trump's fecking narrow lead has come about as a result of him basically being the Republican candidate. The Democrats are still fighting over Clinton/Sanders. When one of them drop out is it not expected for the single remaining Democrat to suddenly take a leap forward?

Theresa May Says The Uk Fire Service Is To White
Born Hunter replied to kanny's topic in General Talk
Equality...... "because it's the twenty first century" the only justification necessary. -
I can see someone over drawing with an arrow and then releasing with the arrow now un-centered and skewering their fecking hand! Happens with bows and you can at least see the arrow with them!

But it's safer.................

I have a 10 plate TD4. Cracking motor, very pleased with it and that's all I hear from other owners. Those that say they're shite are talking bollocks imo. They're not without their litle problems, like all motors. The FL2 suffers from the bad rep of the FL1 and people just hear freelander and go off on one. They are two completely different motors!

I think so yeah, I read something about him being on some series as a guest and now getting his own show I think. He used to make a living trapping possum in the winter and doing rafting guiding in the summer round the world. He made his first video to show his Canadian mates what he gets up to and the world took an interest! Anyway, now he makes his living partly from his media fame. So yeah must be a ball ache but it puts food in his kids mouths so to speak and he genuinely seems to enjoy it, bit of a character.
