Why have SbS shotguns gone out of fashion.
Born Hunter replied to Meece's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Nothing in it for me. I've selected which barrel I want before the gun is in my shoulder and it happens at the same time the safety is flicked off. It's easier to change your mind once mounted with double triggers but personally that never happens for me. So I don't really think one has any advantage over the other in this respect. Switching between double triggers or operating a selector becomes second nature in both cases I think. -
If you can somewhat easily get permission from a farmer/landowner (through someone you already know/family) to shoot small vermin on his land then definitely get out and buy an air rifle. I'd still recommend beating mind you simply for opportunity to meet other folks and broaden yourself. We're in the thick of the shooting season now, move fast and find a local shoot, otherwise you'll be waiting until next Sep/Oct. Ferreting is basically where you use domesticated ferrets to chase rabbits from their warrens into nets, no need for an air rifle for this. It's another great way to start off

That's fair enough but it's dead in the water if the DUP won't accept a border between our two islands. The only solution is for Britain to accept the same terms. Thanks for clarifying that. Though now I'm not sure anybody knows exactly how this will work. It all seems a bit speculative.

The reuters article I posted along with the quotes mate. Reposted below. Britain’s Daily Telegraph and Financial Times reported that London had agreed with Dublin, which has the backing of the European Union, to maintain regulatory “alignment” with the EU on both sides of the border to avoid a possible flare-up in the violence which troubled Northern Ireland for decades. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker spoke to Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar by phone. EU lawmaker Philippe Lamberts, who met Juncker earlier on Monday, said the draft text on Ireland would commit Bri

I'm not sure I follow. My understanding is that they have agreed that the WHOLE of Britain will keep "aligned" with EU regs, not just NI. Please correct me if I have misunderstood. If that's the case, then I'm not entirely sure how much we have 'left' the EU....... Depends what they mean by "aligned with EU regulation". Are we accepting the supremacy of Eu parliament? Are we simply accepting trade standards and regulations to ensure fair competition in their respective markets?

IMO that's the best way. A newbie needs to be mentored and meet people that can point them in the right direction. I started with an air rifle, beating and a couple of ferrets. Beating is the best way to get involved and is good fun in itself.

I've been asked multiple times by FEOs. I think they're more concerned about the house being left unattended than the certificate holder not being present though which means if the gent in question has family at home while he is away he might be alright with the issue.

Nothing looks as in keeping with field shooting as a SxS. Frankly I think I'd prefer to have one over my Silver Pigeon. Only reasons holding me back really are OUs will handle recoil better and I'm not really that bothered to go to the hassle of chopping. Multi chokes and single triggers I don't see as an advantage. To be perfectly honest, given the freedom I'd use a half choked semi over either for everything. -
Oooo we can tag people in posts!

Sooooo my recommendation was good for you??? They're f***ing brilliant aren't they. Youll have to forgive me, i'm a bit evangelical with this it shouldn't but it really does matter to me. This must be how Francie feels about God.

So long as it doesn't take funds from the military then fine, great. I worry that these 'causes' end up forcing the military to reduce their effectiveness to appease political pressure.

It does say re-established next to Little Egrets. I've also seen quite a few of them. I'll get excited when they're reintroducing Irish Elk and Woolly Mammoths!

It all really depends what deal we get doesn't it? 40B, 50B, 70B (plus whatever they want for us to access their market, don't forget that. "Free" trade ) is f**k all if we walk away with several 100B in trade that we otherwise would lose. That's the bottom line. The problem is simple, they want our money, we want their trade. They have refused to sit down and discuss the matter in those simple terms because they want us to commit a wedge incase we can't come to an agreement on trade later. IMO it's a transparent strategy by the continentals but with the demands of (or is that risks to th
