yep .. robin hood prince of thievs the one with kevin Costner ....he has a sword fight under it with some of the sheriff of nottinghams men...lol bit far from home.... same film....he lands in England at the white cliffs...then says its a days walk home...lol.....and has a bath under a waterfall that's hardraw force in the dales..lol

its a hell of a sized tree....its been pollarded its not the best pic...but could be a poplar tree...

at some point in its life ...I think a human has bent it completely in to a loop ...on the 3rd pick the tree on the left of the pick is the same tree...its the end of the loop ..or what would have been the top of the tree if it was a regular tree...you can see on top of the loop ...the tree has compensated by sending up those branches....sadly its dead now the tree...see if I can get better pics in the winter

for the last couple of years I have meaning to put a pic up of a tree I go past on me dog walk....I think its an ash... its incredible whats happened to it and its still growing....I will get a pic later today and put it on for you lot...

I remember watching on the news a few year back about a tree in wales ..it stood alone on top of a little hill ...it wasn't an oak I don't think ...that blew over and all the locals were very upset ....think lots of them had proposed to the mrs there .....

I like that fireman....and its something I have told my mrs to organise when Ken comes knocking ...I would much prefer my mates collecting me boxing me up and putting me in the ground at the top of the hill above the village....looking over the vally..

folk in next village bought a portacabin plonked it in there garden....then put battons all the way round it with tiny gaps between looks really good .....think they have it as an outside office but the uses are limitless....good thing about portacabins they usualy have services installed ....just need to hook up to elecy water ect

lovely is that Arry ....we have a holm oak in our garden as well ...not planted by myself... with your pics and having one ..has just prompted me to google them and a quick look on wiki ....heres a few intresting things... the oldest one is thought to be about 1200 years old .....they are also one of the 3 trees that are good to find truffels under ....and the acrorns from them feed the free ranging pigs that make the iberico ham....

I used to live just a few miles from the major oak...and when I left school I ended up working in sherwood you could still go isnide it back then as the trunk is hollow... a great tree certainly.. estimated to be about 800 years old ...I think it's believed to have been pollarded in its early years

exactly...spot on ....now read my post again ... I was replying to max who stated Cooper droped Ali ....wich he did... Ali won that fight ..yes by cheating but still went on to become the best we have seen....he lost a few fights but was still the best

does sound a nice life on one of them narrow boats...some are done out right nice.. I would think it would be a nice way to get on to a bit of running ground with the dog as well....good luck with it
