  1. Hi sent you a pm this afternoon for a Mouchers tale.
  2. Sleeping compartment of my Kennel is insulated, roof, floor, and all walls, I have a heat lamp also with infra red bulb.
  3. I had a small Fergie tractor, when I had sheep, and my wife would run the two Collies behind the tractor, this went okay for Months, then one day the young collie who was just starting to work well, turned into the front wheel and broke a shoulder, and had a lengthy lay off, so I would say don't run them behind Motorbikes and tractors.
  4. I would not have any problem in using a Track bitch that was coming to the end of her Racing career, I would use a stayer, over a sprinter, and make sure she had good feet throughout her racing career, and had run in a decent class.
  5. If rabbits and ferreting is your game, I would use a nice Working Whippet sire, Whippet X Beddy X Greyhound. You are not putting in a lot more crosses, and there should be an interest in the Pups of this cross.
  6. I will probably get a bashing on here for this post, I regularly attended the Coursing at Annan, and the trainers would sometimes run Powderhall track dogs, these Dogs appeared to run really well and some put up a better show than the Coursing dogs.
  7. My Whippet X Beddy, best marking dog I have ever owned.
  8. Although I mostly ran Bedlingtong crosses, there was a local Lad who would breed the odd Litter of Collie X greyhounds using retired track bitches, most turned out good dogs, and on putting this cross back to a Track greyhound bitch produced a Bitch that was sold for a lot of money, none of the Greyhounds were coursing bred. I would just make sure that the Grew bitches had not had bad feet.
  9. I have been making Sloe Gin for a few years, and when finished I emptied the used Sloes on the compost heap, this year I have tried two new recipes, one I have filled the demijohn with 5 pts of cider, you shake for a Month then ready to drink, its supposed to taste of Sloes, and gin apples, and the stone of the Sloe a slight Almond taste, The other is a Bottle of cheap Brandy pored over the finished Sloes. it must cover them, you add a little sugar, and again shake for a month, then ready to drink, this it says produces a fiery tot, enjoy. Another I have heard is to put the Sloe mush in a bo
  10. A lot of Working owners say this that when feeding raw Stamina appears to improve.
  11. I worked Whippet X Beddy, and Beddy X Greyhound good Dogs but my Whippet X Beddy was the best dog I have ever owned, she would take fur and feather run her nearly ever day on my local shooting estate with a large population of rabbits, she would work any cover, 100percent marker when out with the ferrets and would Lamp, she also did Pheasant beating along side the Labs and Spaniels, she was kept mostly in the house but often in the kennel, she was never hyper in the house, and was dead easy to house train, a very clever little worker, On saying that, I do like a change and im now having a wel
  12. There you go Teddy Bear all the info you will need.
  13. All good posts, forgot to mention a feed of Sardines once a week.
  14. There are a lot of variations, but I would feed a young pup with a good complete, make sure the first ingredients on the bag say Meat, I would feed complete with Goats milk in the Morning, and afternoon, and then one meal of raw Mince teatime and some more later, small amounts four times a day, you can drop to three meals later, Theres lot of different ways to feed, you can give Egg mixed with rice pudding for breakfast some times, you can also buy cheap Chicken and boil it up, keep the juice to mix and feed the cooked Chicken, when a bit older you can also feed Chicken wings, you can break t
  15. Good stuff, cant beat salt water for the feet.
  16. Thank you for your interest in Tracer Lithium Battery packs. I have just checked with our service department and out of the thousands sold we have not had a single return due to a connection problem. We have had feedback that there may be a potential problem and have passed this to our engineers as we do all customer feedback. As far as I know there are no plans for any immediate changes. Received today from Deben.
  17. I know its a long shot, did anyone buy a Smooth black Patterdale Bitch from South west Scotland about 20 years ago, she was bred by Bill Brightmore.called Treacle.
  18. Never used a metal probe, plenty pieces of stick about, and you have collars, a metal probe is just something extra to carry.
  19. Just read on a Dog Forum that a piece of Deer Antler is excellent for Dogs teeth, better than a Bone, Could anyone sell me a piece of Red Deer Antler about six inches.
  20. Many years ago a friend who was older, I was eighteen had a wee bitch that was probably the finest hare catcher pre ban I have ever seen on small fields, anyway he said I could take her out, I kept her on the leash, and walked her 5 miles to good hunting ground that always had Hares, I let her of the leash, she took one look at me, and took off, On walking back I was worried sick what was I going to tell him, On return when walking into the house, here was the Bitch lying on his couch in front of a roaring fire sound asleep.
  21. Not a digging man have had Lurchers for 42 years, mainly been a Rabbit trapper, ferreting, snaring Longnetting, just waiting on new Whippet Pup. 63 young this year.
  22. Nothing to do with their equipment, but their sales department, I emailed debens, about their new lithium battery pack which I was going to purchase, and they couldn't be bothered to answer me,it was about the connection you plug the lamp into, as I read a few posts saying it was a bit dodgy, if you are buying a product over £150 in these troubled times, you would think they would jump to try and help.
  23. I would advise anyone looking for A Whippet pup to go on The Working Whippet Forum, and the Poachers Rest, lots of genuine Whippet owners on these sites, lots of info on different strains ect, and forthcoming Litters.
  24. Go on to the Poachers rest Forum and The Working Whippet Forum, plenty of photos on there, Owners usually post their Litters for sale on these two sights as well.
  25. Go on the Poachers Rest forum, look under Dog Health, and jump to number Two, there you will see Dislocated Toe by country Joe, lots of useful information, as well as posts from Skycat, who always talks sense, hope this helps.
