  1. I don't usually post on this site I don't like living dangerously, but its a pity that the posts were not all like the recent Tripletree and Parkstone, instead of all the back biting and slagging, that goes on. time and time again a good post, ends up in a slagging match.
  2. The method I use, and its never failed yet, is walk the dog on a leash with a rolled up Newspaper in one hand, when he makes a lunge, a stern NO and a light smack on the nose with the paper, after a few times, he or she will get the message.
  3. Has anyone used the smaller Lansky sharpeners the ones you could carry in your pocket and use in the field.these are the ones I have looked at, are they any good? The Speedy Edge, Quick Fix, The mini knife sharpener.
  4. Totally agree, if making a ferreting dvd you have to be imaginative, if you just show Rabbits bolting, and a bit of digging, the Dog catching a few, your mind starts to wander, and you can feel the zzzz coming on
  5. Dvd by Chipper Smith given free in CW,thought the camera work was pretty crap, the thing about ferreting dvds, once they have hit the nets a few times, seen a locator used, and watched a couple of digs, you fall asleep, the best I have seen are P Lloyds, at least he tells a novice little tips, Getting back to this DVD I have never seen as many dodgy Rabbit punches, don't they know how to dispatch a rabbit, there is one sequence when Chipper chins a rabbit in the net, then when releasing it from the net discovers its still alive, and his mates rabbit punches are something else. On the plus sid
  6. I have tried both types of heaters, the tubes and the overhead heat bulb the heatbulb is the best.
  7. Don't think it really matters, ive seen coursing and track greyhounds used, and don't think there is much difference in the working abilities of the offspring, Interestingly I was at a Scottish coursing meeting a number of years ago, and some track Dogs from NGRC Powderhall took part, and some of these ran better races than the coursing dogs, and one or two had never seen a live Hare.
  8. A Dog of mine went to Ayr Scotland in the Eighties, she was easy recognised she was pure White name was Snowy, she was Whippet X whippet X Beddy, anyone come across her, or have any info on her?
  9. Tried this years ago Vet anaesthetised Dog, and cut back to the quik, sorry no happy ending, it did not help.
  10. Very simple, I always cook my Rabbit in a slow cooker, Cut up an Onion, you can add Peppers if you wish, one tin of Pataks Curry sauce there's a few varieties, Madras Tika masala ect, add the Curry sauce BINGO.
  11. Can you recommend anywhere to buy the best British Finch mix, and what name of brand.

    Cheers Laurie.

  12. I have seen some excellent dogs bred by Lurcher to Lurcher, but i have also seen some mediocre, and sires and Dams were both first class. Like i say its your bitch, its up to you which way you want to go.
  13. You want the litter to level out, so I would not go for terrier or more collie or saluki, If just for Rabbits I would go for a Whippet, if you would like something a bit bigger, I would go for a Whippet X Grey, but Breeding is never simple, and there is no guarantee you would have bigger pups, but its up to you, its your Dog.
  14. My memory not so good but years ago I asked Bill Brightmore why he wasn't in the Fell terrier book, I am sure he told me they had a row, cant remember how it went, but he did not have a good thing to say about the Man, I still think Bill should have been in the book.
  15. No one out there ever heard of this small coated black Bitch.
  16. I can make it, was shown by an old poacher mate, mines is like glass, beautiful some used to fish two hooks Mickey on the top and a worm on the bottom, this is crap if your stuff is made right you don't need worms, I fished a small treble, so your mickey does not fall off with a lead weight just like worming, best fished when water is low and cold, they can find it easier, I used to fish it right up to Xmas when its been hard frost, that is best for sea-trout and herling and broonies go mad for it, and no I am not going to reveal on a site, how to make it. its illegal
  17. A number of years ago I bought a black smooth coated bitch from bill called her treacle, she was sold on from a lad from Dumfries always wondered what happened to her, I take it she would have been bred from as she was a handy Bitch, did anyone come across her?, Im sure Bill told me a Dog of middletons was her sire, but who knows,Bill was a cunning old Fox.
