You appear to have Owners who only feed BARF and nothing else, and vice versa, some only feed complete, I know owners who feed, a complete in the morning, and Raw at night, but also boil up Chicken and Veg, and once a week Sardines or similar, which is what I would do I know they are not Human but whose to say they don't appreciate a bit of variety.

If you do want to go down the complete route, I would look at the feed for Greyhounds, The two that are currently getting good reports are Australian, and Gains.

How does the free flow mince, and chicken, and Tripe in 2 kilo bags compare from pets at home, Is it worth using Daf if you only have the one Dog. Think its about £4 for 2 kilo of Beef Mince but is free flow.

cheers ill have a look Go to the Working Bedlington Forum, good bunch of Lads that work their Dogs, Some get approached by Whippet owners to use their Beddys as Stud, Lads on there should put you right.

I ran Beddy Whippets for years they will kennel up with other Dogs no bother, Go on to the Working Bedlington Forum, the Lads on there work their Beddys, and some get approached by Whippet and Greyhound owners to use their Dogs, I am sure someone on there will no of forthcoming Litters.

Forget about lines, G Newcombe has been dead a number of years, and Gutchcommon being a great working strain was just a myth kept going by the KC clan who wanted to sell pups, If your wanting to use, or buy any working dog look into what Parents and grandparents have worked, and if possible see both Parents working.

Wats the big obsesion with killing foxes with some of these young lads that get lurchers [bANNED TEXT] we were young it was all about catching stuff to eat or get a few bob for. I was brought up the same, would rather have a few Bunnies than a Fox, With the amount of Fox catching Dogs on THL im surprised there are any left to hunt.

IF I had ten grand to spend on a Dog, I think I would buy an Open Class greyhound.

Maybe you were just unlucky with the rip, as you say you don't know what did it, when the Dog is healed, take it to the ground again,, your Dog might receive the usual nick but nothing serious, run it a few times there, and see how you get on.

Breakfast: scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast OR several spoonfuls of natural yoghurt plus a couple of chicken wings. Skycat I know a lot of owners have fed chicken wings to young Pups with no bother, but there has been cases of pups chocking or the bones jammed in the mouth, some say when feeding chicken wings to young pups they would not leave them alone, Others will not feed them till the pup is at least six months old, and some would never feed them,if the Pup still has its baby teeth. Forgot to mention some owners recommend bashing them with a hammer before feeding.

Some of the best dogs I have seen stayed in the House. Also with the amount of posts on dog thefts, keeping them indoors will become more popular.

What Age Would You Breed A Bitch Up To?
Country Joe replied to northantscourser's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Ted Walsh in his Book The English Whippet gives the following advice, Breeders vary as to when and how often they mate their Bitches. My own practice has been to have a first Litter between eighteen and twenty four Months, which serves to mature and fulfil the Bitch, it also ensures that you will be less likely to have trouble later on. It can be difficult to get a Bitch in Whelp for a first Litter after three or four years old. The Showing and Coursing can then be enjoyed while the Bitch is in her prime(from two to five years old)and have a second and possibly third Litter at five and six ye -
Regarding noise from your end pins clicking together, I used to wrap plastic electric tape around the handle part of the pin, and down a bit of the main shaft, but not to much, when doing this if you do clink them you only get a very dull sound.

Looking for a whippet or whippet cross
Country Joe replied to Durham(kev)'s topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I live in Scotland and my Pup will be coming from the Midlands, if you see what you want, distance shouldn't be a problem. Lots of Dog transporters running up and down the Country if you don't wish to travel. -
are you bothered about the greyhound blood in your line???/
Country Joe replied to a topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I use to attend all the Scottish coursing events that were run in my area, and I often saw track greyhounds from powderhall NGRC running, and these dogs would sometimes run better than the coursing strains, Years ago most Lurchers here were bred from big hill Collies, and I have seen these first crosses bred out of a Coursing bitch and track dogs, and the litters were no different, I saw Dogs out of both Litters and they evened out about the same. -

Funny how SS keeps coming up,I have never met Mike brown or spoken to him,I suppose there will be lads on here that know him, what I have heard is that SS mainly ran on the lamp, now I don't know if that is true, so don't quote me, as he was born on August 1991 that was 20 years ago so maybe someone saw him work, or perhaps mike is a lone hunter I do not know, There are stud dogs out there with no SS breeding or very little.

Breaking lurcher to sheep and cattle
Country Joe replied to Amateur's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Watch out with the Ram, I have seen Collies getting trapped in a corner in a pen, and taking a hammering, I was put on my back with a tup I was feeding in the field when it came for me butting me in the stomach, putting me on to my back. -
if you are calling me one of the idiots, i was only pointing out its good to keep an eye on your ground, and therefore help the chance of not getting an injury, I know a dog can injure itself at full tilt, I have been involved in running dogs for 43 years, but have found if you say something on here, that some disagree with, you get called a moron and a idiot, from now on I will just look , and not post.bye
