  1. This is a very simple leash made of leather, purchased of a Lad who wrote in the old Shooting News . must be 25 years old good as new.
  2. Does any one know roughly how many hours lamping I would get with a blue eye 2000 and a 12 volt 7 amp sealed battery?
  3. I worked a Beddy X Greyhound bitch years ago, decent Dog, bred out of Newcombes Blue.
  4. Talking about sitting tight my Whippet X Beddy learned how to catch Hares, pre ban in the den, I did not like this, but she became very adapt at this, also with Rabbits which I didn't mind.
  5. I now have a Whippet Pup, but to soon to say, but in the past worked Whippet X Beddy, Whippet X beddy X Whippet, and Beddy x greyhound, worked these Dogs hard, never had one foot problem.
  6. A friend of mine is looking for a cheaper source of Can Insulin, finding Vets to expensive, has tried the Web but no luck, can anyone help?
  7. Still have mine, and its in excellent condition, don't know how they compare to the modern lamps, but I took a lot of rabbits on this lamp
  8. Don,t think it pays to criticise some one who is a regular on here and is obviously very accomplished when it comes to lurchers, afterall she isn,t an anti like some of the so called authors in the CMW I agree, she is the best writer in CW, I have been in correspondence with her, she always answers your queries in a professional manner and is very helpful.
  9. As a regular reader of the old SN, and have started buying the CW again, it really does need a revamp, what are the admin thinking of, it needs a new Editor and the whole Mag sorted out, I would start my making it monthly, you need a good run of articles like Lloyd on Lurchers and some top terriers Lads I would do away with the silly readers photos, and try and get the Readers letters going.
  10. Slam as much good food into him till he is 12 months, you can never overfeed a pup, if you are looking for a training DVD Purdeys Progress by David Sleight should do the trick, I personally would not feed Pedigree chum, I look round Morrisons and pick up Lamb, Beef, and Hearts from the meat counter I feed raw that's going cheap because of Date. If using complete go for a good one, that the first ingredient is Meat, also the advice you have been given is sound.
  11. Hi Mickey, I used to work Beddy X Whippets, Beddy x Greys and now have a Whippet Pup all these are excellent ferreting dogs, for beddy crosses try the The Working bedlington Forum and for Whippets the Working Whippet Forum, decent bunch of Lads on these forums and should be able to point you in the right direction, if you go for these crosses.
  12. As I have not visited his kennels, those that have please enlightening me, how much work do the stud Dogs, and brood bitches see, how much exercise do they get daily,, and how much socialising do the pups receive?
  13. But lets face it, he is a puppy farmer, breeding off unworked animals who spend all their lives stuck in pens churning out pups at the highest rate possible for cash. I agree with ideation, especially with the above, The Collie X Greyhound used to be a very popular cross, there must be lads out there, breeding this cross, its just a case of looking around and being prepared to wait.
  14. Here we go again, another Hancock thread, if you are turning out the amount of pups as these breeders are doing, the law of averages, you will breed decent stock, and also some mediocre, But they would not be breeding if there was no demand, I myself prefer worker to worker, but that's just my opinion. The plus things I can see with Hancock dogs, is you get what it says in the tin, and pups are always available.
  15. 43 years this June, just taking charge of a Whippet Pup.
  16. Not seen many up here, Staffies and Bulldogs still seem in fashion.
  17. Just announced on Radio two Men from Cumbria have been banned from entering any field in Scotland. after attending court for Hare Coursing at Lockerbie Dumfrieshire, case is to be continued.
  18. Still got mine the blue Eye 2000 good lamp never had a problem took out a lot of rabbits.
  19. I was also wondering what the benefits of this piece of equipment, as I also just used to let the dog run behind the bike, was thinking of a cycle path, but a lot of loose Dogs about, and if one went for my Dog,it would not be able to make a quick escape.
  20. Can anyone help, I saw a post on THL that mentioned an attachment for a bicycle, that helps running your Dog behind, it gave you a link to the product, tried to find post but no luck.
  21. I used to keep Sheep, I could buy all medications and administer them my self all kinds of injections same with Cattle so a Dog is no different, but I would worry if buying meds, you may not know the shelf life ect, I used to keep Pedigree sheep along with a Vet who was practising, they just love Cat and Dog owners.
  22. I was out for a mooch years ago with Phil Lloyd's Aus Cattle Dog X Greyhound, Speckle, excellent cross.
  23. I had a Whippet X Grew that knocked up a toe I took it to Alf Pennicook who was an owner of Open class Greyhounds, he had a hand held ultra sonic machine that cost a lot of money, the Dog had a full course of treatment, and unfortunately I cant say I noticed any difference.
