  1. That's interesting reading about the .22/250 as I always found it devastating on fox and roe , never lost anything and indeed never even had a runner. Shot a lot of roe in Scotland with it and they all dropped on the spot not like the .243 where you got runners.
  2. Seen some strange things , once shot a hare with HMR taking both eyes out and it just sat there still alive . Unreal but happened.
  3. Seen quite a few .22 rounds richocet off rabbits heads but not fox as we used to neck shoot them which always put them down , chest shots that I have seen always producers runners in my experience. I haven't shot many foxes with my HMR as always take .243 but the ones I have were chest shot and had a mixture of dropping on spot or doing the death run.....only person to decide is the man behind the trigger ,.
  4. It's a territorial thing , I've had loads of dog foxes come to dog fox mating call and vice versa vixens coming to vixen on heat call. Had a vixen other night come to vixen on heat call. No rule book I always say , just keep calling and change them about.
  5. Bradford Stalker at Ouston Chester le street just down the road from me. Where you located ?
  6. 17lb looks about right ?30 lbs for a fox is huge , I used to weigh a lot of foxes and believe me 20 lbs is big. The heaviest fox we have had was 23 lbs on the scales . People always guess without actually weighing them and often exaggerate. I stick to fact ?
  7. Much better with full neck caped back to shoulder ....
  8. Brilliant mate , really pleased for George , bet he was buzzing. I was with you every step of the way on that stalk as it was just the same as we did the week before. You will be taking a back seat now and letting George take up the ropes

  11. Man's best friend: Dogs are used to flush out the deer to the waiting rifles of the hunters. As always , journalists never get it right !! Bit some spectacular images.
  12. As I've always said " You will shoot nothing sitting in the house" I've shot many foxes and rabbits under the full moon , they dont read the rule book I've often found !
  13. Out again this morning and achieved my personal best ...............
