  4. I was out lamping last night with Ratch on a new spot we havent lamped before , only a small place but still worth a look. We havent been out for ages due to the weather etc .... I had the .22 and Ratch his .243. I started off with a couple of rabbits , leaving one in a gateway to collect later on. When we came to pick it up it had vanished on inspection with the lamp in the next field there was a fox busy feeding on the bunny As Ratch got ready for the shot it slinked under a gate and away across the next field. After collecting the rabbit which was minus its head and heading back

  6. Popped out this afternoon for a couple of hours and had a nice mixed bag. Shooting really well , missed nothing. Had a lovely right and left at pheasant. Shot a squirrel with no tail !!!!
  7. What rounds was he using? That's some pretty impressive shooting! 105 grn A-max
  8. That is some awesome distances there Foxhunter...... What was his shot to kill ratio? 5 rabbits for 7 shots. 1st shot missed about 1 inch to the right . He was dialled for a 7mph wind from 1 o clock. 2nd shot connected. The rabbit at 570yds was missed extremely close , elevation was always spot on its just gauging the wind , especially shooting across a valley. 612 yd rabbit shot with 1st shot.
  9. Out yesterday with my mate doing a bit of long range rabbiting . He was shooting his .243 and I was very impressed. He started off on a couple at 425 yds and 437 yds no problem at all . Then took a couple at 570 yds and 575 yds and ended on the furthest one at 612 yds. AWESOME SHOOTING Here is a pic of the distance involved , if you look at the snow at the top of the opposite bank that is where the rabbits were situated !!!
  10. A big heavy doe in great condition . Look at those gorget patches ....
  11. Yesterday morning saw me and my mate out first thing to try for a doe. As I ventured up a track at the side of a narrow strip of trees a doe suddenly stepped out onto the track about yds from me but unfortunately it was skylined. I froze and watched her waiting to see which way she would go and fortunately she headed in my direction. I quickly got ready on the sticks as I could see her advancing through the trees. There was a rhodedendron bush between me and the doe . I expected her to appear right handed but she came out left handed of the bush , at 20 yards I gave her a whistle , s
  12. Hi Artic Have a good one and may it be injury free. Are you still up for a look out ?? Send me a PM Cheers
  13. Well I havent been lamping foxes for about 6 weeks due to this crap weather but seeing as it has just thawed I decided to have a look out last night. Reached the farm at about 7.30pm and did the usual route, I spied a fox in the 3rd field and was gladly surprised that it just sat. I shot this vixen at around 120 yds . Shoot captain was chuffed as they shot 2 vixens off here on a pheasant day a couple of weeks ago. 3 vixens less that wont be having litters !!!!
  14. Job well executed mate . Always good when a plan comes together.
  15. Well done JD , I take my hat off to you shooting squigs with an air rifle , where I go you cannot get near with a shotgun. I had a wander out yesterday and bagged 3 with the shotgun ...... Still eating a nut ....
  16. Tikka T3 is a very accurate factory rifle. I have put quite a few people on to buying this rifle and they all love it. I know I love mine. Plenty deer in Wiltshire , good luck with your venture whichever you choose .... Tikka T3 and Wiltshire roe courtesy of my good mate FD .....
  17. Had a walk out this afternoon for a few hours in search of squirrels now that the snow has thawed....... Very sporting quarry , cannot get close to them at all but still managed a few.....
  18. Now now mate , you know you have it easy down South . All the game down there is semi - tame not like the quarry up North You are tripping over deer and they have nowhere to hide except a few hedgerows Quarry up North is well educated and has to keep its head low to survive. Anyway have you got nothing better to do than shoot deer while some of us have to go to work Not that Im extremely jealous of course mate  Anyway dont shoot them all and save some for me
