  1. Flying to Turkey on Saturday morning to see my old man and get some warm weather training in with my bro who's boxing in a month. Forecast is 23c and sunny. While he runs up mountains i shall recline with a beer or two and probably read these forums like the sad case that i am
  2. Sums it up really. The speed difference in the first few rounds was huge, i was at the fight in good seats and it was really noticeable how much sharper Groves was early. The heavy knockdown and fact he was beating Froch to the punch every time probably did Groves no favours - he started to lose respect for Froch and in the mid rounds thought he could abandon his jab and stand and trade - forgetting that Froch is a tough tough man and that played right into his hands. I just can't see Groves making that mistake again, he seems to have everything in his favour - speed, sharpness, has o
  3. sorry mate i stalked you on that land today and i'm going out tonight with my dog and we're going to take 700 bunnies before you even get started
  4. Groves boxes his ears off (again) and fights smarter late on, unanimous points win, Froch retires after the fight.
  5. Nearly 12 month old deer/grey x collie/grey, really switching on now, can't wait until next season
  6. nice photos, nice dogs! I see the familiar plastic bottle being coursed to within an inch of its life, think my dog would rather have one of them on the go than a bunny sometimes
  7. sorry mate, just seen this. She's deer/grey x collie/grey, about 26tts now but still fairly light at 22kg, although starting to muscle up a bit. Hasn't seen a thing but caught sight of bambi the other day on a walk and went off like the clappers, ground too wet so couldn't get close but that's the first time i've seen her switch on and really put her head down, she's rapid, much more so than the beddy crosses i've had in the past
  8. Great shots and lovely hounds. How old is the pup and how tall are they both out of interest?
  9. hahahahahaha the music killed me off f*ckin hell
  10. sounds ok to me, mine get raw mince chicken + dry meal+ beef bones, and bit of pasta pilchards when lamping , shop around see if you can get meat cheaper than 60p ? how much does your big pup eat per day out of interest mate? i'm struggling to balance how much my 11 month old is eating, some days she looks a big fat unit, others a skinny rat
  11. strong looking pup mate, sounds like he'll make a quality dog
  12. 1/4 Deerhound, nearly 11 months old with the brains of a 3 month old. So in my experience it's a big fat yes to the question 'slow to mature'? Saying that just after this picture was taken today she coursed an empty crisp packet to within an inch of its life
  13. nice pup mate, mine is 10 months and very slow to mature too so know how easy it is for patience to be tested ...... Makes me sick seeing young dogs on here catching/retrieving perfectly etc that all seems a lifetime away for my daft mutt Aye...But it will all be worth it when when you have a steady dog that has good constitution. Any pics/info of said daft mutt? don't be fooled by the athletic poised stance and serious stare, there is literally nothing going on between those ears, yet (i hope..) she's ace though, love her to bits
  14. nice pup mate, mine is 10 months and very slow to mature too so know how easy it is for patience to be tested ...... Makes me sick seeing young dogs on here catching/retrieving perfectly etc that all seems a lifetime away for my daft mutt
  15. I'll be heading up to Muker on my bike with some mates, should be an amazing atmosphere, will hunt down the podium girls
  16. She's looking good mate. Are you in touch with anyone who had a pup out of the same litter? Are they all a similar size? sadly don't know how others are doing, although probably for the best as knowing my luck the rest of the litter will probably be dog geniuses taking all quarry, guarding the house like demons and cooking their owners a perfect roast every Sunday
  17. cheers, yeah i'm noticing a change in her physically pretty much every week now, definitely getting some strength in her now thanks mate cheers yeah that's what i'm hoping, she can be a pain in the backside but i can't begrudge her just being a pup, she's great one to one but any distractions and i turn into the most boring person in the world and she's off! I know she'll come good given time though
  18. 10 months old, bang on 25tts, around 22kg. Don't know if the 'deerhounds are slow to mature' thing is anything but a myth, but mine is still very much a pup and nowhere near steady enough for any work this season. Can't complain though as she's very calm and laid back in the house and around people which is important to me, although if she's still daft as a brush this time next year i'll be chucking her in a box and giving her away as a secret santa present
  19. 10 month old, deer/grey x collie/grey. Still thick as two short planks, hopefully she'll have grown a brain to go with her legs by next year
  20. not technically a rabbit dog yet as she's only had the dummy so far! but one day...
  21. cheers all, it's pretty difficult to know what to say to the lad, just a tragic accident and senseless accident. When i saw him yesterday at hospital and he described the poor woman's injuries it really brought home what dogs, especially some big powerful animals that many of us on here keep, are capable of. Just a shocking situation
  22. Horrendous. The lady that's died is the auntie of a teenage lad i work with closely and mentor, he's distraught as are the entire family. From what he's told me the dogs were loved family pets with no history of aggression. Apparently the woman had an epileptic fit which somehow led to the attack. Sad, sad news.
