Only recently found out mine is Hancock collie cross (with deerhound x other side). She's coming up 20 months, spot on temperament, very keen, slow to mature but put that down to the deerhound, she's more switched on these days when there's stuff worth chasing. My only experience of Hancock bred dogs, but i can't complain

oh mate i'm absolutely gutted to read this, she was a lovely dog and it was obvious how much you thought of her. If your beddy whippet wants a run with my bitch anytime for some company, just give me a shout. RIP Blue

Great show, well organised and nice turn out of quality dogs. Anyone know where the photos taken on the day by the official photographer bloke can be viewed?

looking forward to the show, any 26"+ rough dogs stay at home so my bitch can get a pretty rosette, i've promised the missus she'll win one if she lets me go

couple of up top date pics of mine, 18 months old. Tore both stopper pads badly going after a couple of bunnies up in the Yorkshire Dales the other week, somehow managed to find the only tarmaced ground within a 10 mile radius to run on Not great timing but healing ok, hoping she's good to go in a few weeks

Speak with a reasonably succesful trainer of a certain age who has trained fighters through the generations and ask them if fighters today are physically fitter......all else being equal ( skills/ability etc ) .....The thing we do when comparing like this is we look at the highest level to compare......but if you take the average journeyman pro of today and compare fitness levels to the average journeyman pro of even only 30 years ago it is like chalk and cheese.......apart from the obvious nutrition side of things, think of things like sponsorship......years ago pro fighters were not sponsor

that's my point though, the 'old school' ways are still being used! - roadwork, bag/pads, sparring, bodyweight exercises. Some fighters lift weights but many don't, actually stuff like wood chopping, picking and throwing up big rocks, odd object 'functional' training that the real old timers did has now come back into fashion somewhat in a lot of gyms. I've got a couple of great books which detail the exact workouts that many former and current champs used - Archie Moore, Ali, Hearns, Hagler, Buchanan, McCallum, Norton, Duran, Mayweather, Pacquiao etc What's striking is all their routine

Thats your opinion I'm referring solely to boxing btw, my opinion is that todays fighters are inferior skill wise to the previous generations I mentioned. I've asked several times for examples of improvement in skills,so far no one has answered my question. If your premise is correct then todays champions and contenders would beat yesteryear's would they not? It's therefore strange that no historian or accredited boxing writer holds that viewpoint. Wonder why that would be? I never claimed modern boxers were technically better. just that they're much stronger, faster, fitter

17 month old, ready for action -
mine comes to work with me and has done since she was 4 months old (17 months now). I work flexibly but she's out and about in the car with me for a 3/4 hours occasional days, has to stay in the boot (estate) for the odd half hour on her own but on the plus side i'm able to walk her multiple times a day. Like you mention it's great company if you work on your own, i couldn't do without her now, even just as a companion
