  1. Hi Daz Yes I have owned a HW35 for a few years now. .22 It is a classic gun, 11fp + accurate and I have never had a problem with it. Its on the heavy side but as I shoot from a rested position whenever possible its not much of a problem. I tend to use it for hunting vermin out to about 30-35 yards, and that is more my limit with this gun rather than the guns limitation. Like all springers you have to have a gentle hold and a good follow through to get the best results. It also has a great trigger that can be adjusted to suite your preference. I would certainly be happy top recommend
  2. Hi Guys I just thought that I would share this with you. I have a small permission only 4.5 acres that are horse paddocks that back onto a small housing estate one side and a disused railway bank on the other that is almost impenatrable with brambels and thorns. The owner also rears prize/rare bread hens that have been sharing their feed with some wild pheasants and ferral pigeons. Any way I have had a few attempts to pot a few of these free loaders but to no avail until today. I asked the owner if I could shoot from inside an old horsebox that sits nice and close to where the chickens f
  3. Hi, Ditto to the previous response. I have a 3-9X40 on a HW 35. Have used it extensively (18 months), for rabbiting at circa 30 yards and insome pretty mucky weather including freezing conditions. No problems, good scope, good service. ATB Dave
  4. where about in the peak district are u from im from chesterfield

  5. Sorry Andy I don't fully agree. Yes if you hit them in the head and drill through them with a .177 then it is lights out almost instantly. However, if you drill through almost any other area of the body the pellet is failing to transfer its energy and thus your quarry may escape to die a more slow death. Please remember a 40 yard flight may put it over someone elses land where you can not retrieve, or worse complete the dispatch. My experience with a .22 is that they transfer more energy and thus do more damage for anything that is less than a perfect shot. Enough said, we all have our oppini
  6. Hi Mate, Good luck with your experimentation and let us know how you get on. Just got a tin of Bisley Magnums and intend to try them on Monday, I had a word with the local gunsmith in sheffield, he seems a damn good guy and provides advice which is honest rather than putting money in his pocket. I explained my concerns regarding over penetration and he advised the Bisley Magnums, and has he is the second person to recommend them. They get the next slot for testing. ATB Dave
  7. Hi Guys Well I have now put three different brands through the AA S410 .177. The results so far: Air Arms Field Diablo : 30m Zero, unaided prone 10 shot group, 1 contiguous hole with an approximate 9mm diameter. JSB Exacts: 30m Zero unaided prone 9 shot group, 1 flyer, but about a 12mm diameter. RWS Super Hollow: 30m zero, unaided prone, all over the place, I cant believe it, must have had 4 or 5 flyers. These pellets works so well in my Weirhauch WH 35 Springer, and they are so good for pest control. But in the AA S410 they are next to useles. Next step is to try a few
  8. Hi Dogger The HW 35 is still going strong, it is a classic, fantastic reliability, engineering and accuracy for a full powered springer. A new one these days is about £225 from a traditional gun dealer. My now uses my HW35, I have had it for about five years and never had any problems with it. I use RWS Super Hollow Points for hunting and I have to say it it very effective up to 35+ yards. That is more my limit than the guns. I can manage groupings of 12mm prone at 35 yards almost as good as my PCP. My son and I use it mainly for vermin control and its ceretainly taken care of mos
  9. Phantom, Congratulations mate. Its hard enough getting permissions, but even harder loosing them. But your not going to!!!!!! Well done!!! ATB Dave
  10. Well done mate, you did better than me. I hope your enjoy your duck. It always tastes better whern you have personaly added a bit of lead. Enjoy your duck supper. ATB Dave
  11. Thanks, Phantom, Edgar, Lee85, Maty J and andyfr 1968, I have just got back from having a go at them. I have to say they are going to be harder than I thought. Got to within about 50 Yards of them, and they took flight. Didn't come back either. I want to get within at least 30 yards before I take a shot as I realy want to nail them with a head shot only. A body wound on a bird that size will be a slow death. So the plan is to get up tomorrow before first light and get into position before they even flight into the pond. On the positive side, I nailed two squirells this morning, I h

I'm not about to start taking liberties with the law, good way to loose licence These ducks have not been hunted for years, can get to within 20 - 30 yards. Love duck: yum yum Trying with an air rifle appeals, rather than shotgun. On leave tomorrow moring, rifle charged. early start [bANNED TEXT] sun-up I will let you know how I get on. ATB Dave
