  1. I quite agree, use the right tool for the job and the appropriate tool will vary with range. If you cannot kill something humanely, don't take the shot. In my own case my certificate states - Additional conditions: (.17 HMR and .22LR) "...used for shooting vermin and ground game..." "use only in connection with the shooting of vermin or, in connection with the management of any estate, other wildlife." I read that as meaning ok for opportunistic fox but of course NOT deer or anything else covered by other legislation. Mine actully has the word FOX written on the cert. Only t
  2. Dont imply anything like that. Thanks Its actully perfectly legal when you have fox listed on your FAC for .22lr (like mine) If you dont have it listed dont do it, its a firearms offence. Cheers
  3. thats the kind of people they give SGCs to... shocking Just randomly fire your 3 shots off into the darkness
  4. Oh come off it The HMR is undeniably more accurate than the .22LR , I'm suprised theres even any discussion about this!! It has almost 3x as much energy (245ft/lbs) to (95ft/lbs subs) and much higher velocity (2550fps) to (1000fps) Its obvious that its gonna be more accurate lol , but then the .22LR is much much quieter, whisper quiet and also the ammo is about 3x cheaper for the .22lr The HMR is what you want mate
  5. you wanna get ringing them everyday you do lol you soon get what you want if you hastle them enough more than 2months and its up to you to make the effort and ring ring ring!! no effort from you and you deserve to wait!
  6. There is no pellet restriction, the pellets you shoot are the same as in a sub 12 ft/lbs air gun. Those references will be completely fine, the job won't matter. ATB!!! Good luck
  7. Good luck with the interview!! Hope it goes ok

  11. Good luck with your Firearms Application
  12. Only had the .17hmr with me. Still some good pics off my phone ;)
  13. I THINK THIS IS WHAT HE IS SAYING..... The fox is a clever animal, i found a young fox last year, i fed & trained it like a dog, it respected & acknowledged 1 word commands. pitty fox is persecuted in the uk, some times i see killing for no reason, because its just a fox ! what happens next, is polecat maybe chew him nose ? NOT SURE ABOUT THE LAST BIT... LOL LOL
  14. Give them a ring !! I was calling my firearms department every other day when my application was in. Must have phoned about 15 times Its the FEO you dont want to annoy, but by all means hastle the firearms department, no harm in that :)
  15. is the moderator loose? this is a common cause of bad groupings.
  16. good air rifle = 12ft/lbs .17HMR rimfire = 245ft/lbs So the .17HMR is 20 times more powerful, or 2000% more powerful) Is that only a slight upgrade? I'd like to see you take a rabbit at 150yards with a shotgun/air rifle. their max range is 30yards. With the knowledge of firearms you've displayed so far, getting a Firearms License will be a near miracle.
  17. Brilliant choice, they are excellent I have one, but in .17HMR
  18. I wouldn't do that. Just apply for the calibers you need : .17HMR and .22LR and you will have no problems.
