I've seen the dog socks when he puts his teeth to anything it's toast I'd a chat with the lad who has it he said the dog came out of England I have seen plenty of dogs that you could put in a room with anything and they would kill it ... But the same dogs didn't have the drive or heart to bust a gut to get to their quarry when an obstacle was put in front of them ... That tells me the dog is lacking something ......

The bottom line is that any dog that watches quarry run off into the distance is lacking something ........

Its not been properly trained to navigate obstacles,thats not the dogs fault is it?.Geez mucker you,ve some sharp and knowledgeable hunting companions. If the dog was truly game and really wanted its quarry it would have learned to get over round under through any obstacle ... IMHO if a dog won't bust a gut go get to what it wants then it can't be really that game ...... Gameness as nothing to do with a lack of basic training.I agree a dog should have the nous to work things out on its own initiative,especially when caught up in the excitement of the chase,it should make every effort to kee

The gamest and most resolute of mutts will never reach their potential if they lack a little stewardship and basic lurcher training,the ability to navigate obstacles and jump is as basic as training gets,yet some owners neglect what some of us see as standard,then their mates blame the dog. No matter the lack in early training or entering a dog that wants its game will bust a lung to get it ........

The kennel club sets the breed standard for each dog ... So in other words a pedigree dog registered by the kennel club will look like whatever standard they put down on paper for that individual dog ... Breeders then try and breed to match that standard ... So the kennel club decides what a dog should look like .......
