    It was between my old hob and a new one I was trying to introduce. I'd split the pen thinking to give them time to get used to each other but the old guy kept finding ways to break in and get at the young one, resulting in the worst fights I've ever known. The old man ended up pulling both his top canine teeth out on the young one one day and it was him that bit me luckily, but the pain even from that made me realise that most people who say they've been bitten by a ferret have only been nipped.     My old hobs were as daft as a brush and so is the new one, in fact no ferret I've ever had has ever shown aggression to people. The only time I've ever been bitten properly was last year trying to break up a fight between hobs.

    Buy property and rent it out. Be careful with students though, they tend to move on quickly meaning you will be forever having to redecorate and such. Far better imo to find someone who will stay for years.

    I've had a couple of hanging baskets in my run for a while now but the lining is always wet and rots quickly, that seems a remedy to the idea.

    I've sprayed my pen every time I clean it with diluted Jeyes for the last 10 years or so without a problem.

    I've got 2 here that I'm frightened to let other dog walkers see, they're both covered in cuts and scratches. In actual fact ones had a couple of tousles with barbed wire and the other caught the bruce lee of squirrels, I've just counted 7 nicks on his face from the little fecker.

Yes they are happiest with other ferrets around them Yes, males and females live together quite happily I've always been told that jills need to be brought out of season each year, but others seem to get by letting their jills come out of season on their own.     Full insurance for my 2 was getting just too much for me, my old dog is 8 now and the policies go up in price by loads as the dog gets older. I've now got accident only on my 2, and that costs 150 quid a year, I figure they are both mongrels so hopefully they'll stay fit well into old age.

    I went to 3 vets when I had to get my new hob done, one quoted £120,00, one said he'd never done it and didn't want to know, and the final one did it for 60 quid, it pays to shop around.

    Cat food is ok at a pinch but raw meat is best. Mine get rabbit squirrel or pigeon when I've got them. if not chicken wings from asda or such. Make sure you freeze wild game for a couple of weeks to kill off any parasites they may have.

    All ferrets are going to come across rabbits in stop ends so what can you expect? Imo you've just got a good working ferret, especially if it kills and comes straight out

    If you can buy in bulk and are prepared to travel try Betteridge the butchers, just off jtn 9 of the M6, 40 quid will get you 100lb of mince. He only does lamb beef chicken and tripe though, no carcasses. Landywoods is great for variety, my dogs love the veal ribs, but a bit expensive imo.

    I can see Cushtys point, a deer can wander miles, no one feeds or looks after it in any way so it's difficult to argue that someone owns it.

    I changed my vet recently because of a number of things. It started when my old dog needed stitches for a tear on his chest, the vet quoted 150 quid if they had to knock him out, so I said I'd run it through the insurance. When I picked the dog up the nurse let slip that he had been so calm they had stitched him with just a local, yet a few weeks later it turned out the bill they'd sent the insurance company was £225.00. The next was when I took my 7 year old hob to be PTS, it was pretty obvious to me he'd had a stroke or something similar as he'd gone off his back legs. Against my better jud

    I don't need ice to fall over, there's rarely a day goes by without me going a over t on something. Luckily I'm still bouncing rather than breaking bones but it's a pain in the arse getting old.

    I watched the news last night and there was a piece about Cologne, a woman and 2 kids murdered by her husband, and a long piece about gangs in Britain and how knife and gun crime was on the rise. The common factor in all of them was that they were done by ethnic minorities. The argument that it's only a small minority is beside the point, the same people saying this are the ones who preach that "if it only saves one life it's worth it" as they try to ban gun ownership or anything that the average person takes pleasure in.     Went out last night to feed the stinkers and it looks like my old hob has had a stroke. The vet has said to give him till Monday but I'll be surprised if he's any better, so I'll be looking for another, preferably this years and white as I'll be getting it snipped to take my jills out of season each year.
