SACS, I've just renewed mine and as a member of THL it comes out at 32 quid for the same cover as BASC.

A halfx collie/grey. He's been out with me from 12 weeks and he's 18 months now but still puppyish on occasions. To be honest I still don't know whether he's going to be any good, there have been occasions when I was very close to laying the shovel over his napper. My old dog knows the ferreting game but turns bunnys into soup so I had the pup in the hope I could get a gentler mouthed dog, which he is. Only trouble was he was so gentle to begin with rabbits were escaping the nets, and I'd be left with steam coming out of my ears. The last few outings though he held them well so we're getting

I took up biking again in my mid forties, and over the next 10 years or so me and the missus rode all over Europe each year and once across Montana for 3 weeks. I gave it up in my late 50's simply because I had a near 60 year olds reactions and a 17 year olds mind, I was terrified I'd have an accident with the wife on the back. Keep to the speed limits and you'll be fine, but sitting on a machine the can out perform most supercars to 100mph is soooo tempting if you have an attitude like mine.

I'll never understand it as long as I've got a hole in my a**e, the seasons finished and over the next few months you'll be able to get as many ferrets as you want for free. Instead these twats take a mans animals that he has looked after and grown fond of, I can't even begin to imagine what goes on in their minds.

How much are you paying Gaz ? My oldest dog is 7 now and they wanted £250.00 for him alone, I reckon by the time he's 10 it would have been £400.00.
-
I've just changed mine to accident only, which is costing me £150.00 for both dogs rather than the thick end of £400.00. but obviously doesn't cover illness. My thinking is they are both healthy mongrels so it's doubtful they will suffer from much until they are old, and I won't be able to afford the cost of insuring them fully at that age.

Surprised to see a lot more women than men have signed it, would have expected the other way round.

How can you even compare a lollipop to a stick of liquorice, let alone says it's better ? They're not even in the same league !! Liquorice all the way ! Well you can get 3 times the amount of sherbet on a lollipop for a start, and as long as you're not a greedy sod and don't bite the lollipop lasts longer. These things mattered when I was 6 or 7 and only got sixpence a week pocket money....
-
Sherbet dabs are better, the lollipop is nicer than liquorice, but beggars can't be choosers in our house, I just nick whatever the missus brings :D
-
Sherbet fountains mate, I'm always nicking them before the grandkids arrive.

What on earth has a rabbit taken in Whitchurch got to do with Hampshire or the Isle of Wight?
-
I should think he has permission on a nearby farm and is roaming a bit, getting caught somewhere you shouldn't be with a firearm is armed trespass, not many would just rock up somewhere and try it.

A beddy x ferret will take woodpeckers from the off

Had my dog in Had my dog in for stitches a few weeks ago and was quoted £150.00 if they could do it while he was awake and £200.00 if they had to knock him out, so I told them I would put it through my insurance. Picked him up the next day and was told by the young nurse he was as good as gold and they did him awake, and the bill was £225.00,

Piss taking sods the lot of ya

It makes up for all the times he's sniggered at me when I've gone arse over tit in the mud  The best part was when the ferret bit the horse, he was laughing and groaning with the pain at the same time...lol

A mate and me went out Saturday for a couple of hours ferreting at a riding stables, and in that time we had 4, the dog missed 3 bolters including one that he chased while having a net wrapped round his back leg, my mate fell off a fence and tells me this morning he's cracked a rib, and finally the icing on the cake, the ferret popped out of a hole near a horse, the horse bent down to sniff it and the ferret nipped him on the lip! i've never seen a thing that big move so fast, he was on the other side of the field in seconds.

Maybe get a hob and have him vasectomised? Only need the one op then plus it was about 50 quid to get mine done, mind you that was a couple of years ago.

When Is A Reluctant Ferret Not Reluctant?
tsteve9999 replied to Jax13's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
It's happened to me a few times now and I think the reason is as simple as there are no rabbits there. A couple of weeks ago me and a mate did 2 warrens that looked to be holding rabbits and my old hob never really looked interested, but the third one we tried he flew down and was gone for a half hour, resulting in four bunnys. -
We've had 2 or 3 with young in them since Christmas. I hate gutting them when they're like that it seems such a waste.
-
I've had 2 of the cheap ones in my hutch for 5+ years and they're still going strong, though I admit the algae thing is a pain in the arse in summer.
-
Flawed in many ways but still the greatest Brit of the century imo
-
Any chance you could give a dimwit like me a bit more of a description of how they are used mate?
-
My old dog is 60 odd pounds and not scared of owt in the field but he won't go near the ferrets unless we're out rabbiting. They've all nipped him over the years at one time or another playing about and it's given him a healthy respect for them. Better I think than the dog treating them as mates and playing about with them.

I think with whats going on in the world today you'd have a hard time stopping people talking about it, and anyway some parts of the threads have been ok imo.
