  1. Rebel, no ones argueing. It's called debating, LOL. Dee you mention young terriers. Most of us hand pick the places we drop our novice terriers into, ie. handy spots. Do you not think you learn / hear as much about your terrier by listening at an entrance instead of sticking a bar down to where the terrier is ?
  2. Before the new finders I used to use the old debens. I didn't say I don't carry a bar, we carry 3 in fact. When a terrier's entered and the dig is a normal dig we never use one. It's always left in the vehicle anyway. The bars are there for rock, stone or locator failure. If a terrier is entered and is working and you've located him then why sink a hole with a bar? Do you not think your terrier is working? If the terriers stuck you have to dig. If he's working you have to dig. If he's dead you've to dig. There's one reason usually a lad sinks a bar. Because he's unsure what's going on
  3. IMO when a man starts sinking holes with a bar he hasn't a clue what himself or the terrier is doing.
  4. Well found Tom, a nice look at the past. Maybe not how it should be done but how it was done. Thanks.
  5. Thanks lads. How long will it keep for ?
  6. Well Spartan, what's the recipe ? I like jerky.
  7. Yep I'm with you Duckwing, the green legs. I'm going with full GL Hatch but if there was anything else in there some of the plumage suggest WH. IMO.
  8. From the picture I would guess he's a hatch or hatch cross. Possibly to a whitehackle
  9. I see Britain and Irelands not the only places that suffer fools.
  10. Mart about 10 years ago I took out a years subscription to "Full Cry" magazine from the states. No fancy pictures or anything but if you want to know about the American hound scene it's brilliant.
  11. Brilliant, that's what it's all about. They'll forget many but remember that one for a long time. Fine fox too. And well done the pup too.
  12. "and your half way there". If only it were that easy.
  13. I knew a fellow years ago who used a labrador to draw quarry at the end of a dig. I've also seen a collie do it . Sort of knocks the idea of a draw dog being a game dog doesn't it. They can all look game when their owners standing beside them. They belong in the past IMO.
  14. This thread's a perfect example of everything that's wrong in the terrier world.
  15. A few foxes would do that in a night. Forget about corvids because if the ewe was found in the morning and it's not bright 'till 8 or so then birds can be ruled out.
  16. Possibly Fazza. The Husky must have been for pulling a sleigh with all the game on it.
  17. I see on TV3 news that 5 dogs were stolen out of the ISPCA dog pound in Galway. Guess what ???? One of them was a lurcher and three were terriers (a lakeland, a black terrier and a jack russell) and the fifth dog was a husky type. Every one knows that one of the biggest dog thieves in Ireland lives in Galway and sends the "goods" down to the low life in Limerick who then sends them to Britain. The reason these dogs were in a shelter in the first place was because they were probably useless and their owner was too spineless to do the proper thing. So what I'm saying is, Anyone who buys work
  18. FFS Bryan, sorry to see that. Ring me if you's need a hand.
  19. I'd love to know how as the ingrediants are the same.
  20. Look at the ingrediants and the % of each ingrediant. Liquid life aid thats used for calves with scour is the same as recharge but 1/4 the price.
  21. I wouldn't use intermuscular myself. Sub-cutaneous under the skin. And Fatman that fox bite I took last week didn't even swell and is nearly healed already even though he bit me twice. So I wouldn't be to fast with the anti-biotics. A good healthy fit terrier will have a good constitution. The terrier that needs anti-biotics will usually let you know within a half hour after a dig. It's something that should be learned before letting a terrier go to ground, afterwards is to late.
  22. Funny enough, my daughters riding instructor has 2 weimaranar X red setters. The first time I seen them I was sure I was looking at 2 plott hounds. I couldn't believe it when she told me what way they're bred.
