  1. LOL, I was saying something good. Your the one coming on knocking the gamefair. And there's a big difference between a game fair and a Terrier show. And that's no offence to Kevins show, excellent value at a fiver.
  2. LOL, lads a bad game fair even takes a couple of hours to walk around. How long would 15 euro last in a pub?? Each to his own I suppose.
  3. Partly true, they used to weave gold rings in to braids in their hair for the same reason. Probably camper than ear rings but that's what they did.
  4. Brian Jones is very popular with greyhound men and one of the top lurcher men uses him too. He has a clinic outside of Dublin and Newry.
  5. That is early Trappa. I think this year is going to be bountiful. I picked enough elderflower today for my champaigne in about a half an hour. Also there's a sloe bush near me that's ranking already that didn't produce a sloe last year. Better start buying my gin.
  6. There is such a thing as a stag hitch to put on a string.
  7. Your not catching my drift D. I've no problem with mongerals. I've had some great ones (lurchers). It's the sticking of a name on them for ££££££££££££££££ sake that I have a problem with.
  8. Terrier man I would question a spaniel that could be beat in cover by a terrier. Over the years I've seen plenty of folk shooting over terriers and sooner or later they usually make that phone call "can you give me a hand, my terriers in a hole". If a terrier went through it's life putting game out for a gun (or a lurcher) without going to ground then I'd question that terriers hunting instinct. Rescues to pet terriers are not that uncommon. It's what they do.
  9. I've no problem with the cross D, it's the name. You'll be telling me next you seen a Labradoodle picking up or a Whirrier catching rabbits LOL. There all mongerals.
  10. Jeez, I can't believe Fatman said "Sprocker". What's the world coming too?
  11. A terrier worked alongside your springers will quickly ruin any retrieving you've trained them and if the terrier you get is bred for what a terrier does then he'll probably dissapear into the first earth you pass. JMHO but working terriers are a specialist breed that should stay in the hands of terriermen.
  12. Hunt, good posts. Your last few words very true. Magners, I now dig 7 months a year anything between 4 and 6 days a week. But what Fatman is talking about is a time we dug every Sunday and a few Saturdays. Out early and trying earths just before dark. If I remember correctly those 2 bitches were part of a team of around 7 or 8.
  13. Ahhh, the boxing night. Let me put it this way, I didn't drink for a month after it.
  14. Well Dev, thought you would have been down for the puppy show and a few pints yesterday?
  15. If your season is six months long then thats 26 weekends. If your getting 2 to 3 digs a weekend then that's roughly 50 to digs a season. That should be within most folks capabilities. However, a hunt terriermans season is 7 months long and if his pack is out twice a week then he should be working his terriers 4 days a week. Some packs do 3 days and there's one in Ireland that does 4. That's a lot of terrier work. IMO there's lads not digging 40 a season who's terriers are better than most. With them it's quality over quantity.
  16. Best of luck with them Lowry. Nice time to breed a litter.
  17. mind neil you digging to soft meath foxes and not proper ballymacad foxes... LOL, the foxes here in Meath country Keith have a nice deep red colour to them. Yet you only have to go a few miles up the road to Bally country and the foxes are different. They're yellow, LOL.
  18. That terrier I showed you the other day TerrierManiac is what most folk would consider big. In 8 seasons she always reached her game.
  19. When that programme first came out on TV3 the anti's were celebrating and doing their usual text messaging and "tell your friends" it's on bullshit. After the programme they were sending texts out saying "please complain to TV3" as it's quiet pro-fieldsports. It's still up on their web-site asking to complain. It's worth watching.
  20. Nice write up Diverd, it sound like you boys were in the right place at the right time.
  21. P.S. The only dog I've ever heard of being stolen out of a quarentine kennel was an A.P.B.T. and the owner had a good idea who stole him and didn't bother his arse looking for him. So please tell?
  22. Neil whats your views on folk that pinch dogs out of quarentine? Is it the same as dog theft in general? At what point if at all does it become plausable? Alcapone I wasn't going to reply to any of the bullshit that you come out with but I get the feeling that your post is accusing me of something. If not then you're saying that I know something that your dieing to tell the world about. ANY stealing of a dog is wrong. So please tell us, what is it you mean by asking me about stealing dogs from quarintine ?
  23. Will you be nameing the thief Hepher ?
