I totally agree i think it devalues what should be a great honour............no man/woman should be awarded such an honour simply for being good at their chosen sport......the prestige and glory of a trophy/medal and everything that go,s with that trophy/medal is reward enough...... Nobody will of heard of him but i was glad to see an old fella from the area Steve Hiser finally recognised this year for 40 odd years of service to boxing he,s been training young boys at the Fisher Club lads like Honeyghan and many others started with Steve a lovely ol boy..........perfect example really,an unkn

Dont know much about Rees how did he manage to get a shot at Broner in front of Ricky Burns.......personally i dont think Burns could beat him but id give him more of a chance than Rees .....only seen him box a few times and he has some good qualities but its a big ask i cant see him beating Broner......certainly wish the lad all the best of strength luck and safety though

I got 9/2 for a Taylor v Van Gerwen final before xmas.........looking good so far......whether its a sport im not sure but i think its a fantastically pure form of competition i was completely engrossed in the Van Gerwen/Lewis match tonight it was great.

What and thats a good thing ?.....your admitting the biggest clubs in England could not compete if they didnt have little Hiroki Yokoyashi buying a Man Utd shirt in downtown Tokyo !!........doesnt matter if he never sees a game of football just so long as he buys a shirt.....what a sad thing to have to admit ! It really is amazing the amount of shit people stuff in their faces without giving a second thought to what its doing to their bodies.....ive said for years now how unbelievable it is that people will do studies and research till they are blue in the face when it comes to gaining knowledge on the latest ipad or xbox game................yet when it comes to silly little things like maintaining health and fitness they really couldnt give a toss !

I dont really know mate i doubt theres much in it.....for me a genuine big puncher can carry their punch up through the divisions like Hearns did he was knocking out middles and light heavies same as he was knocking out welterweights........I wouldnt swear to it but i dont think Mayweather has ever ko,d a light middle.....where Leonard i think did ko a few heavier guys.......i dont think punch power would of come into it anyway i just think Leonard would of known too much for Mayweather i think they are both very good at adapting to different styles and making the necessary adjustments during

I dont either mate.....partly due to the fact that i just dont think todays game has the quality of trainers these fighters had Hearns had Emmanuel Steward....Leonard had Dundee and Duran had Ray Arcel......3 of the greatest trainers the games ever seen...........not only did they have unbelievable individual talents and qualities but they also had greatness in their corners.

Socks you sound like a proper stand up fella..... and its great to have the values and morals you have................having been in situations of this nature ( not over women ) but standing up for weak people.....i know only too well what its like to take on certain responsibilities that put you in a position you really shouldnt be put in..........where you can easily end up letting folk down through no fault of your own when weak people come to rely on you.........i wont go into detail on my own learning curve of the subject but i swore to myself that where this type of situation is concerne

I presume you mean Watson/Eubank........the referee that night was Roy Francis one of the best and most respected referees in Britain.......what happened to poor Michael Watson was proven in court to be entirely the fault of the bbboc......not the referee,the corner or anyone else.

Its worth keeping in mind Leonard didnt just beat Hagler he completely dominated him......dominated one of the greatest middleweights in history who had cleaned up the entire division and who was a massive favorite to win..................and having been out of the ring 4 years and jumped from welterweight to middleweight to do so.......id say if ever there was a fighter who at his peak was unbeatable......Ray Leonard was very close to it...............personally i dont think Mayweather could of dealt with Leonard or Hearns........infact i think Hearns would of beat him even more convincingly

An oap is for life not just for xmas .....For a number of years now one sunday a month me and a few pals drive round scooping up a few of the ol boys of the area and taking them to a well known boxing pub where around 20-25 of them will just sit there talking to us about sport and life i sit there like a big kid mesmerized.....even with all todays luxuries and places to go things to do etc its still one of the things i most look forward to.......it probably looks funny a big group of supposedly rough tough blokes sitting their in awe of a bunch of old boys sipping pints of mild and telling th

Probably Hagler/Hearns......Ali/Frazier.......maybe Castillo/Corrales.........in recent times...............although i love some of the old fight rivalries Robinson/LaMotta.....Zale/Graziano etc....not everyones taste but i just love the pureness of those old battles.

He only actually gave me a couple because my ol fella was on them but after i continually pestered him for more he gave me the lot just to shut me up i think .....tried over the years to get some more of the ol man but didnt have much success a few good chaps off here tried to help me a few years back with little joy that was when i decided to pass them on to my lad....dont think he,s ever looked at them but might be worth something in a few hundred years !

He might of been smiling but he had nothing to do with that win i always said it was maybe the best win of any British fighter abroad in history.....and it was all down to Bobby Neil....Lloyd was a hard man to train as he was so headstrong but Bobby got him in the condition of his life.......one of the nicest Jocks ive ever met he gave me a big collection of fight films years ago as he knew my ol fella well......Duff took a lot of credit where it wasnt due him that fight.....familiar story with him !
