  1. x 2 !...........Gets better and better this lad. When you look back at the great fighters through history most of them had " a rivalry ".....another opponent/s of the same magnitude Ali/Frazier/Foreman......Robinson/LaMotta......Pep/Saddler.....Hagler/Hearns/Leonard/Duran.....Benn/Eubank etc etc........they made each other.......thats why its so vital during your era at the top to fight the other big names at the top.....by Calzaghe not fighting Hopkins or Jones in their prime and putting more importance on an unbeaten record he waved goodbye to the possibility of a historic rivalry.......
  2. Gary was one of lifes good guys he was plenty aggressive enough but there was no badness in him at all......he had a jewellers in Wandsworth High St but made a few bad investments over the years ended up as a Security Guard in Hammersmith Hospital.................never lost his love of fitness which cost him his life in the end......lovely fella, big beaming smile he had an infectious personaility that was fun to be around...............................and i still maintain he hit harder than Bruno.
  3. Moxy thats it.....didnt he change it to Brendan after he went over the wall....seem to remember him dossing in a ditch at some point. I think we can all relate to those characters or at least know someone whos like a few of them....an old pal of mine from years back was just like that Wayne, not for looks but thought he could rump anything in a skirt...... Who was Ally Frasers pal the one in Spain he played golf with even he was a good sort.....thats a bit more tricky aint it
  4. what was the sc sc sc sc scousers name the one who st st st stuttered ?
  5. Ol gawd what now...............how many murders am i supposed to of committed this week ?.........have i bought Gold and Sullivan out yet ?.............." crank " is just about the perfect description really
  6. Blindin series that was i used to love Auf Wiedersehn.....nothing like it these days no such thing as entertaining shows...... Didnt like that new series they made that was crap but the older ones were great......Oz was a crackin character they all were except that Neville he was a bit of a dry lunch.......even Barry was good they all just clicked.................Dennis man Dennis
  7. Its a fair shout Tuffty when you look at the era he fought in and the names he overcame.......he fought and beat at least 4 OTHER all time great fighters that would appear on any all time great lists...........thats the measure of what is needed to be spoken of in " all time great " terms......id put Leonard around 4th or 5th but certainly wouldnt argue too strongly against your choice.
  8. You already said that mate......and i say again,i am probably biased to my own area and fighters ive known.......but im not completely blind..............what does it take for people to see Calzaghe is ONLY spoken of in all time great terms in Britain...............but im the biased one If anybody can find an authentic list chosen by respected bodies The Ring mag and the likes...of all time boxing greats that places Joe Calzaghe in the top 20.................i,ll eat my hat !.....Its such a silly naive thing to even suggest.
  9. And it really is that simple.
  10. is he still alive he was a joke ffs I went to his funeral last year you prick who the f**k are you to call anyone a joke after some of the bollocks your coming out with..........he was British champion what have you ever been British champion at ?.......I think your a wind up merchant mate, although ive had a nibble im not going to take a proper bite..
  11. Will do mate.........just for you to be getting on with heres the Espn list which is generally accepted as being a pretty popular choice.......... Calzaghe is number......................................................oh dear. http://garageboxing....g-entry-12.html Have fun
  12. Only a complete fool would get drawn into a debate about Joe Calazghe being the greatest fighter who ever lived...............and im not a complete fool, not today anyway. But you chaps crack on
  13. I think its disgusting................................................................................................ Stains on the shirt, top button undone, tie all over the place...........some dogs just have no pride in themself these days.
  14. .....The only better sporting quote i think ive seen on here was Steven Gerrard is the best player who ever lived !!!.................Right up there with Joe Calzaghe being the greatest boxer who ever lived !!!! I love some folks humour.......please tell me it is humour
  15. Im no expert on mental health....but having known Frank since teenage years id be as sure as sure can be that boxing didnt play a part in the problems he,s having now.......the minds a complicated bit of kit and the thing that sent him on the wonk is nobodies business but his own.

    Arsenal..

Fans can blame Wenger all they want ultimately the club make the big decisions and the fact is no other top club in England would put up with it.......when you realise that their SECOND biggest shareholder is a far wealthier man than Roman Abramovich........it doesnt take a clever person to see the basic ethos of the club is not football at all its creating wealth.......and who better to do that with than a manager with a degree in economics !
  17. Saying Frank was petrified is just being silly................no man reaches the pinnacle of the boxing game through being petrified of other men !..............Frank was scared of no man in a physical fight......scared of the occasion, scared of letting people down, maybe. Sometimes when your backs against the wall the natural fight in you has to come out......Frank was not a natural fighting man hence when his back was against the wall he usually came apart................he couldnt swap it out in a slugfest it wasnt in him......and he knew that.
  18. Best would be no better than Craig Bellamy .................what a fantastic start to the day thankyou chief When comparing the different generations mate we have to take evolution into account............if you think Best in todays times of fitness/pitches/boots/defenders would be no better than Craig Bellamy.........i think i,ll bail out now while im still a vaguely sane person
  19. And im contradicting myself .............................. I never saw Georgie Best in the flesh so like anyone else im merely going on what ive seen on the telly and what the older generation tell me.....i dont have facts and stats to back it up and its not something im going to delve into the archives for....if you think Maradona was the greatest player ever thats cool no problem
  20. As a boxer he won everything there was to win in the sport from an aba title to the world heavyweight crown and made himself a multi millionaire ! As a bodybuilder he wouldnt even of won an area title or earned 10 bob from it....... He wasnt the greatest no as he simply wasnt a fighter in his heart......but he had enough power, ability and determination to succeed to reach the pinnacle of his sport.......for me that is to be admired not mocked.

    Arsenal..

Apart from Coquelin whatever his name is....they had a full strength side out...............................didnt have a shot on target till the 70th minute.......the guts and character Wenger rants on about, they had none.......................and the technical ability he loves,a 2nd division side in a test of technique.....beat them ! Clubs the laughing stock !
  22. Your not seriously suggesting Steven Gerrard is the greatest player of all time .......Did i read that right George Best would not get a kick against Gareth Bale and Ashley Cole Certainly agree with your last few statements.
  23. I had 4 different people message me for that book .......so i,m sending it to the chap who messaged first with a list of the other 3 names and i trust he will do the same and so on We are talking about the same one i take it.......i dont know if he,s had more than one but this is the one im on about anyway. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Charlie-Lister-Greyhounds-Julia-Barnes/dp/1904439241
  24. Mental Qualities and Desire ? He played nearly 600 games scoring nearly 300 goals over a 20 yr Career !! you don't get where Maradona did without them , Every time he stepped on a pitch since the age off 17 he was under pressure from fans to Perform , the Media and Hatchet Men instructed to Damage him , messi handles the previous 2 ok but the 3rd im not so sure as in the Challenges or should i say Assaults on players Where in some cases horrific in them days and as i said before , he went to Napoli the Strongest League in Europe at the Time and was a major part in them doing the Unthinkable Wi
  25. Beautiful motor....if im not wrong it replaced the Murciealago ( spelling )......under 3 sec 0-60 and 220+ top end !!...............no good if your more than about 9 stone wringing wet but still.......fantastic car.
