    Like any world title its all about timing and the talent thats in the division at the moment it is hard to give him much of a case....that said Darren Barker being an old Repton boy i was over the moon when he won a world title......deep down did i think he was good enough....no not really. On saying all that i still dont think we have seen the best of what Billy Joe has to offfer.

    You make some great points and interesting reading im nowhere near the historian you seem to be so i,ll take your word for it regarding some of them names.......i think in a roundabout way we are in agreement........i think ......by rights top fighters today should be better than top fighters of yesterday....but they are not we know that,that doesnt mean they wouldnt beat them in a fight hence when we compare eras there really is no point saying well Klicthko would of beaten Frazier so Klitchko is the best its a silly attitude to take when there are so many factors to take into account.     They were slower smaller and weaker for that very reason.....can you imagine the Robinson/LaMotta series of fights with todays advances in training/nutrition ? They were unbelievable fights and they were men off the streets in physical comparison....................its like comparing Roger Bannister to Seb Coe......was Coe a FASTER runner of course he was......was he a BETTER runner not necessarily. Bannister was a sprinter, Coe was an 800metres specialist, but I see the analogy and its misleading.Track surfaces and different shoes have helped, and men are bigger , but running is relativ

    My view is pretty much the same as yours Bryson.....its so hard to gauge a fighter who has never taken a smack on the whiskers the Eubank kid puts me in mind of someone who has spent his life fighting in front of a mirror....but then from what ive heard he,s sparred some good fighters who think highly of him. Billys trainer is having to constantly reel him in regarding Eubank as he knows its a far bigger fight later on with a title on the line than it is now but as you say Billy would take the fight now and thats the mad gypsy thing in him i suppose its just as well his head is on right in as

    Back then fighters like Jess Willard and Primo Carnera were seen as freaks of nature that folk said had no place in a boxing ring......even in the ,s i remember sparring people like Jimmy Oyebola or Funso Banjo who also were seen as freaks,Oyebola must of been 6 ft 9 or 10 maybe....you could out muscle him and break him up on the inside IF you could get there....but getting past their jab was near impossible.....the difference between them and these lads like Fury/Price etc in todays times is these boys are much bigger naturally stronger men than the guys back then.....Oyebola was only around

    Yes i do remember him mate lived on a site just off the a127,thought it was a good move for him at the time but seemed to just fade i dont know where he is now...............but this is the point im trying to make Billy is no more sensible than the next nutty gypsy kid ......but with proven and experienced boxing people who have been their and done it around him its common sense that he has a far better chance of success.....................why Furys people didnt try and get him in with Joe Gallagher or one of the other top trainers up there i dont know.......its like anything if you want su
