Where Do Whites Get All There Money???
Tiercel replied to cookiemonsterandmerlin's topic in General Talk
My next door neighbour on one side is on the sick, alcoholic. White and sits growing his hair all day. Next door on the other side is a 1/4 cast his father is a half cast works 12 hours a day 6 or 7 days a week. Drives an old bmw diesel. Next door to him is a 25 year old white that has never worked a day in his life, drives a brand new invalidity car, and plays with his remote control car if it is not raining. I think out of the whole street of 9 flats and 8 houses there are only 5 houses that work. The rest on incapacity. Makes my fcuking blood boil. TC -
Your entitled to your opinion, but you do not know the circumstances that lead him to think about selling the reels. None of us do, so to come out with an opinion like that, is in my eyes the "wrong attitude" and just another wanna-be jumping on the bandwagon. TC

Here are the sold reels on ebay for the last few weeks. And here are the ones that did not sell as well. TC

Long Netting, whats The Longest You Have Used At Night
Tiercel replied to perthshire keeper's topic in Longnetting
How very remiss of me I put it down to my age, and the cider. I have heard a rumour though, that another company is planning to usurp Netrigger & Co's sprint set. I cannot go into details at the moment but watch this space. TC -
Long Netting, whats The Longest You Have Used At Night
Tiercel replied to perthshire keeper's topic in Longnetting
Sprint set nets are only available from Messers Netrigger & Co, they are not cheap, (but if you want the best you have to pay) the net also comes with a pair of spiked running shoes (One pair per customer sizes 10 to 13 only) so that you can get the net out at the speed it was designed to be used. They also do a 5 day course (at an extra cost) just to teach you how to sprint the net out. TC -

Long Netting, whats The Longest You Have Used At Night
Tiercel replied to perthshire keeper's topic in Longnetting
Personally I don't think you will get an answer to your question PK. This section is one of the few sections where dick measuring does not apply. As stated this is just my own opinion it does not matter how much net you have out, how may rabbits you catch, all that matters is that you get out and do a bit. I am not knocking you, I know where you worked there were a lot of rabbits and you probably caught more than I have in my life, in the time you were there. But, there again just my opinion, your catches were no more valid than the chap who goes out now and again for a couple of rabbits. -

Thats it Mal it's not the lumisity of the moon more the gravatiational pull. TC
-
Well thats it, it was on the telly so it must be true. TC
-
Theres nothing new in that report, the moon can cause a tide in a teacup, and seeing as the brain is mostly water it follows that it would effect the brain. To what extent is impossible to say at the moment, but we do not get the word lunatics for nothing. TC

Many years ago I was given an old salmon seign net that had served it's purpose and was only fit for the bin. I cut the net up and used it for various things from cargo nets to pea nets. Last week I was rummaging for some bundles of pegs that I knew were at the back of the shed somewhere, when I came across a bag containing the pea netting that I had cut. I had been thinking what I could use the net for this week and this morning I tried out one of my ideas. The net had been cut in 18 mesh wide strips so I cut some off. First I added an extra row just for it to sit tidy on the ri

After being a long netter for over 25 years, I have had my fair share of disatsters and will probably still have more to come. I have found there are just two "rules" that have to be adhered too. Rule one. There have to be rabbits that will travel where you set the net. Rule two. You have to be able set a net without getting seen, scented or heard by the rabbits. All the rest is personal preferance, it does not matter what type of net you use, how you set the net, how high it is, what angle it is set at, follow the two basic rules and you will catch rabbits. TC

You've hit the nail right on the head, we can theorise all we want, but none of us really know if any tactic is going to work untill you try it. There are some situations where long netting just does not work, then there are the ones where it should not work, but does? I think that the fact it can be so unpredictable, is what really makes it so appealing. There are very few "rules" when it comes to long netting and sometimes those "rules" go by the board. I think it's fair to say "If it works, don't knock it." TC

As Smithy stated you could wait tull the rabbit are feeding further afield. If you are watching the rabbits during the day it is no real indecation of how far they are travelling at night. As a gerenral rule rabbits tend to travel out into the prevailing wind, that said if they have a good bit of feeding near-by you can forget about travelling into the wind they will head for that. Do some homework, have a look at the runs coming from the warrens and see where they travel too. Rabbits will sometimes travel quite long distances if there is the right food there for them. If the warrens are t

Funnily enough, We have some black birds in the bottom hedge, and they are regually stalked by the local cats. I have always intrepreted the pink pink as a call when danger is imminent or the bird is surprised, once the fact that there is danger about is transmitted by the pink ping call, and they feel they are at a safe distance, the call seems to mellow to the less frequent poot or poot poot call. That is how I have intrpreted it. TC

do you think sliders an a hare net are benefical? i have been thinking about this on and off today since i have seen the pictures. like most i have had sliders on purse nets but i have not had them on any other net . the reason i ask is because with the line up on the pegs and the slider sat between the peg and end pin it looks like the slider could restrict the closing of the net because maybe it wont close fast due the the hole centres on the sliders.. then maybe as the top line drops of the pins it makes no differance.. im not critisising or picking holes in the way you do things as cle
